Pro Street - High-end, High Performance , or straight out Pro Dragster. This was my son's "hobby" car, he was a GM Mastermechanic, was lead technician at ( Ar. G.M.-Buick) GM dealership, with 15 years experience. He had custom built many GM engines on the side over the years for his own and others projects (see pics of a 350 put into a street legal 4 X 4 "semi-Monster" Truck). He had spent about a year purchasing the parts ($9K+, like the GM 1T HiPerformance Heads @ $1,100 w/o valves) and building the engine, 454/450+ HP (see pics), and was in final stages of setting up the car he wanted, a Camaro F body Z28. The car has a lot more in parts in it than what we are willing to sell it for (HAS $9,150+ HI-Performance PARTS in it -w/no labor charge ($150+hr) or cost of Z28) . Can drive it as is; comes with another flywheel that, due to compression, should be installed. Finish it out with new wheels/tires; paint. Other endless add-ons from there are up to buyer; make it a $20-30-50,000 car. If I spent $2,500 on new wheels/tires, hood-scoop finished out, and painted; I'd want at least $20,000. Email is best or call me for serious questions or to discuss shipping/pickup/delivery options (501)353-0732, 9am - 8pm CST only.
***The Basics***:
*Pro Street Hi Perf 454/450+ HP (see pics. crate prices from $5,000 to $12,000 - GM hiPerf heads are $1,100 alone, no valves or set-up),
*Mighty Demon, DeMon intake/carb.($600) etc.
*Race ready 4L 80E Rachet Shifting 6 SPEED Transmission with reversed gears, ($3,500 - 7,900 with shift kits and reverse gear-kit)
*Custom 1,000 H.P. rated drive-shaft and rear-end($1050)
All gauges and lights; the Camaro Z28 is still street legal and Ar. registered. The Camaro Z28 has a matched set of Z28 wheels on it, fair rubber.
ready to sell it. He still wanted to get it out himself and "show these kids what
"old-school" could do"; a pretty close quote to what building it was
about for him. Has built several off-road / 4WD type (Monster)
trucks/jeeps as his "hobby toys", he had GM Master Mechanic status and
15 years GM dealership "technician" experience

Can Fernando Alonso win Indy? Here's why and why maybe not
Sat, May 27 2017SPEEDWAY, IN – The month of May has been a joy ride for Fernando Alonso at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The two-time Formula 1 champion came to Indy having never turned left in a race car without also turning right. But he acquired such a feel for Indy's 2 1/2 -mile rectangle during a month of practice and qualifying that he's considered a strong contender to win the 101st Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, rookie or not. "You're not trying to bring somebody on who has very little experience driving very high-performance cars," said 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil deFerran, who this month has helped Alonso learn the nuances that make the speedway such a tough place to conquer. "I suppose it would be a little bit different if you were dealing with a younger, much less experienced person." Driving a McLaren Honda from the potent Andretti Autosport team, Alonso was consistently near the top of the speed charts in practice, he qualified fifth fastest at 231.300 mph, and he handled runs in heavy traffic like a driver who'd done it many times before. But those were the prelims. The race is another creature. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks. I was making some moves, taking some different lines. I am extremely happy." Other drivers say the speedway looks different on race day when the crowd, expected to top 300,000, fills the grandstands and makes an already narrow track seem even tighter. The three-wide rolling start is something Alonso has never experienced, and he will see the green flag from the middle of the second row between Takuma Sato and J.R. Hildebrand. And the space he'll be given by his competitors in the first 180 laps may disappear In the last 20 when it's every driver for themselves. Can a rookie like Alonso win this race? Absolutely, as Andretti driver Alexander Rossi showed last year when his team used a fuel-mileage strategy to win in his first taste of Indy. We're talking about Fernando Alonso here, who easily could show his rookie stripes to the rest of the field most of the day. His best lap in Friday's final practice, 226.608, was fifth fastest in the field and, more important, he said the car felt comfortable in heavy traffic. "The car felt the best (it has) in the last two weeks," Alonso said. "I was making some moves, taking some different lines.
Star Wars Car Drives To The Dark Side Of Comic Con
Tue, Jul 22 2014When it comes to designing coveted collectible toys for sale at Comic-Con, the annual celebration of pop culture lifting off Thursday in San Diego, the sky's the limit for the designers at Mattel. Fittingly, the building where Mattel's dreamers conceive of their limited-edition playthings is just down the street from the Los Angeles International Airport. Inside the colorful design center - a Hot Wheels-themed shuttle bus transports employees from Mattel's parking garage - the designers have spent the past year working on 10 toys created especially for the Comic-Con crowd, including a replica of the Batmobile from the upcoming game "Batman: Arkham Knight" and a 9-inch-tall action figure of Superman killer Doomsday. "We don't have to worry about retail. We don't have to worry about margins," said Doug Wadleigh, Mattel's senior vice president of global brand marketing for boys and entertainment. "We don't have to worry about operational efficiencies. We only have to worry about creating the coolest toys for our fans. Period." It also offers some escape from Mattel's reality these days. Like other toy makers struggling in this digital, video-centric age, the company is trying to remain relevant in the retail world. Core brands like Barbie have seen less of a demand, with a 14 percent drop in sales in the first quarter of this year. Mattel had a net loss for the first three months ending March 31 that totaled $11.2 million. But things will at least seem rosier at Comic-Con, where eager buyers for the toys await (the only other place they will be sold is on the Mattel collector's site). Mattel's exclusives this year run between $20 and $85, but elite toys can fetch much more when they're put up for auction. The crown jewel for Wadleigh and his team this year is a Darth Vader die-cast car, the first official collaboration from Hot Wheels and the "Star Wars" franchise. The car - imagine if a Chevrolet Corvette C5 and the villainous Sith lord's helmet had a baby - comes in a sleek black box and encased in a replica of Vader's lightsaber, complete with a swooshing sound effect. "We've been trying to partner with Lucasfilm and Disney on this property for a long time," said Wadleigh. A full-size working replica of the Vadermobile will be on display at Mattel's booth at the massive San Diego Convention Center.
Watch a 2015 Corvette Z06 run the quarter in 11.7 seconds
Sun, Dec 28 2014We're not writing about this because it's an amazing run, we're writing about it because it appears to be the first run. Someone took a 2015 Corvette Z06 to Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas and blasted it down through the quarter mile. It's still wearing the dealer number in wax pen on the windshield and dealer plates, so this example is fresh from the mold. It's also a seven-speed manual. General Motors said the row-your-own Z06 can do the 'strip in 11.2 seconds, and they undoubtedly had a professional driver and more than one run to set that time. To have Just Some Guy show up at the raceway and do an 11.7 at 120.54 mph on his first run means we expect good things to come as Z06s get delivered to their owners. Check out the run in the video.
