RUST FREE CALIFORNIA TIME CAPSULE. THIS GORGEOUS IROC Z28 T-TOP COUPE HAS THE 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES, FACTORY POSI-TRAC REAR END, TUNED PORT INJECTION, AND SPECIAL HANDLING PACKAGE THAT MADE THE IROC Z-28'S AMERICAS MOST COLLECTED LATER GENERATION CAMAROS.
THIS CAR IS A BLAST TO DRIVE. THE INTERIOR, BODY AND GLASS ARE IN NICE CONDITION - UNLIKE MOST FOUND OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA, NEVADA, OR ARIZONA.
CHECK OUT THESE UNDER-CARRIAGE PICS.
THE MOTOR RUNS GOOD, AND THE TRANNY SHIFTS EXCELLENT. THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WHICH WHEN TROUBLE-SHOT DESCRIBES A FAULTY M.A.P.
(MANIFOLD AIR PRESSURE) SENSOR. I'M SURE GAS MILEAGE AND PERFORMANCE WILL BE ENHANCED WITH A PROPERLY FUNCTIONING SENSOR.
AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE ATTACHED PICS, THIS IROC IS A REAL HEAD-TURNER! IT SOUNDS AWESOME, AND THOSE WHEELS LOOK GREAT. THE 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES ENSURE SAFE STOPS, AND THE SAFETY BELTS ARE FULLY OPERATIONAL.
THE BODY WAS REPAINTED ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND DOES HAVE IT'S SHARE OF MINOR ROCK CHIPS AND SOME SCRATCHES. THERE IS ONE DEEP SCRATCH WHICH HAS BEEN "SEALED" ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR. MINOR GROUND EFFECT CRACKS WERE ALSO MORE RECENTLY REPAIRED AND THE OVERALL LOOK OF THE CAR IS GREAT.
ON THE INSIDE, ALL THE GLASS IS EXCEPTIONALLY NICE. THE REAR HAS BEEN TINTED, AND THE HATCH IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRICALLY ASSISTED LATCHING MECHANISM. THERE IS ONE SMALL RIP ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT (SEE PIC) BUT THE REMAINDER OF THE INTERIOR IS WELL ABOVE AVERAGE.
THIS IROC WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT FATHER AND SON RESTORATION PROJECT. BESIDES THE SENSOR, I WOULD RECOMMEND ADDING FREON TO THE A/C SYSTEM, AND POSSIBLY INSTALLING A HEADLINER BETWEEN THE T-TOPS (SEE PICS).
YOU JUST DON'T SEE THESE CARS IN SUCH SOLID CONDITION BACK EAST ANY-MORE.
PLEASE CHECK MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH CONFIDENCE.
HAPPY RESTORATIONS!!

Genovation Cars readies all-electric Corvette prototype
Tue, Jul 14 2015Chevy runs the full spectrum from some of the most environmentally friendly cars to the least. At one end are EVs like the Spark and Volt. At the other, performance models like the Camaro and Corvette. But one American company wants to bridge that divide. That company is Rockville, MD-based Genovation Cars, which reports that it is almost done building its prototype for an all-electric Corvette. Dubbed the Genovation Extreme Electric (or GXE for short), the prototype is based on a previous-generation 2006 Chevy Corvette Z06, but ditches its enormous 7.0-liter V8 for an array of inverters, batteries, and electric motors said to be good for over 700 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. That promises to deliver a 0-60 time of about 3.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour. Those are supercar benchmarks for performance if we've ever seen them, and ought to leave even the top-spec Tesla Model S P85D in... well, not a cloud of smoke, but whatever the electric equivalent is, in a non-polluting cloud of that. The GXE is also supposed to be able to travel for 150 miles on a single charge, and handle well while it's at it with 50/50 front-rear weight distribution and a low center of gravity. Sorta like the Power Wheels 'Vette pictured above, then, but bigger and faster. Look for the GXE to debut at the Electric Vehicle Technology Expo this coming September in Michigan, after which Genovation says it will put the GXE to the test on the track to back up its performance claims. Genovation Cars Nearing Completion of High-Performance All-Electric Corvette, the GXE ROCKVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Genovation Cars is nearing the completion of a prototype high-performance all-electric Corvette called the Genovation Extreme Electric or GXE. Assembly of the GXE will be completed by the end of July, followed by a three-week testing phase. The GXE is based on a 2006 Z06 Corvette. Several contributors to the GXE effort have helped design and build record-breaking electric vehicles. They include an MIT electrical engineer and a mechanical engineer from Cosworth. "We are using state of the art inverters, batteries and electric motors that will produce in excess of 700-hp and 600 lb-ft of torque," said Genovation CEO Andrew Saul. "We expect the car to achieve 0-60 mph in around three seconds and have a top speed of over 200 mph.
Hagerty kicks back with Ringbrothers for a look at the Recoil
Sat, May 2 2015Over the years, Ringbrothers has shown the ability to mix a meticulous eye for style and serious amounts of horsepower with customs like the Pantera-based Adrnln. The company's recent project, a tuned 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle called Recoil, is some of its best work yet and already has Jay Leno's denim-clad stamp of approval. Now, Hagerty is taking a look, while digging into the history of the actual Ring brothers: Mike and Jim. The two guys grew up in a small town where owning a car was practically a necessity, and the brothers were already wrenching before they could even legally drive. Eventually, that passion grew into a business, which led to wonderfully customized performance vehicles like the Recoil. Hagerty gets a fascinating look into Ringbrothers tuning philosophy in its interview. Of course, the real interest lies in this custom Chevelle, and there's a chance to hear the absolutely ferocious sound from the Recoil's supercharged V8 in this clip.
Would you pay $17 a month to give your older Ford connectivity?
Fri, Mar 30 2018When it was first introduced in 2007, there was nothing like the original Ford Sync system, since it allowed car owners to connect and use a portable device better than anything that came before it. And because it was a brought-in/tethered and software-based system, Sync leveraged a device's connectivity and was easily updated. It took competitors awhile to catch up: Toyota Entune wasn't available until 2011, and Chevy MyLink didn't roll out until 2012. But now Ford is the one playing catchup since it stuck with the brought-in strategy while most other automakers were quicker to add connectivity via an embedded cellular modem. Ford initially installed 2G/3G modems in its small fleet of electric and plug-in electric vehicles starting in 2012 so that owners could keep tabs on charging. Embedded connectivity came to Lincoln in 2014, and Ford began adding onboard 4G LTE via Sync Connect to select cars starting with the Escape in 2015. To get more cars connected more quickly, last week the automaker rolled out its FordPass SmartLink solution that plugs into the OBD port of 2010 to 2017 model year vehicles. This lets owners retroactively get onboard Wi-Fi, set up a "geo-fence" to keep tabs on a car's location, receive vehicle health reports and allows remote engine starting and door locking/unlocking using a smartphone app, among other features. But to connect older Ford vehicles will cost owners $16.99 a month for two years, not including installation. Ford throws in 1 GB of data or a 30-day trial, whichever comes first, after which owners have to add the vehicle to their Verizon shared data plan, which supplies connectivity for SmartLink, or establish a new account. (Disclosure: Autoblog is owned by Verizon.) By comparison, GM's 4G LTE data plans start at $10 a month for 200 MB and goes up to $30 for 3 GB, and owners can also add a car to an AT&T shared-data plan. But OnStar doesn't have a separate monthly subscription for the embedded modem or an installation charge, and standard features via the RemoteLink Mobile App are free for the first five years of ownership. FCA's Uconnect Access service also uses an embedded modem to provide similar telematics features for $20 per month following a free one-year trial, while a la carte in-car Wi-Fi is offered for $10 per day, $20 per week or $35 per month.
