1993 - Chevrolet Camaro on 2040-cars
Wilsons, Virginia, United States
For 1993, Chevrolet sent three brand new Z28s to assist with the 77th Indy 500and created 645 replicas for the public to enjoy. This 1993 Camaro Z28 is one of the those 645 and perhaps the most well preserved in existence. Driven just 900 miles, the car is in new in every possible way. For the Indy 500 Pace Car Package, Chevrolet added bold graphics with a black over white split that accentuates the car's wedge shape. Between the two primary colors, multi-colored stripes reminiscent of streaming ribbons flow below a 500 graphic on the fenders, Official Pace Car logos on the doors and small Indianapolis Motor Speedway badges on the C-pillars. Under the hood, the Pace Car continues the Camaros performance legacy with a 5.7 liter LT1 V8. The foundation is a cast iron block with aluminum heads which utilizes speed density fuel management, batch-fire fuel injection, and a dedicated engine control module to achieve 275hp and 325lb-ft of torque. Behind the LT1, a 4L60 four-speed automatic takes care of shifting duties, spinning power back to a limited slip performance axle with 3.23 gears. Around the drivetrain, the suspension remains in its stock configuration with double A-arms up front and a live rear axle located by a torque rod and trailing arms out back, assisted by power steering and power disc brakes. The interior matches the exuberant look with multi-colored fabric and amenities such as A/C, a Delco-Bose sound system and more! The original plastic from the factory is still on the floor, along with plastic on the radio face, and emergency brake. It has all it's original parts, along with the original floor mats. We have an extra GM belt, air filter, and some extra Indy badges to go with this car. The car is in excellent show condition shape, as you can see from the pictures. I still have the original oil filter from the first oil change. The tires are the original F1s as well, and they are in great shape, no dry rot or cracking. You can see in the pictures. This car is stored in a temp controlled facility, with no drastic temp issues. We also have a custom cover for the car available as well. The cover is SuperWeave material from CalCarCover, and was $400. Perfect for indoor or out. Original Sticker is available, and will also be included.

GM, UAW poaching Nissan workers in Tennessee
Tue, Sep 8 2015General Motors and the United Auto Workers are going on a recruitment drive at the Spring Hill factory in Tennessee, and they're hoping to poach some skilled workers from Nissan's nearby plant in Smyrna, TN. The General and the union even bought a billboard advertising for industrial electricians near the Japanese automaker's facility, according to the Daily News Journal. The reason for the billboard was simple. "GM was short of electricians," said Tim Stannard, the president of the UAW local at Spring Hill, to the Daily News Journal. The factory currently builds the Chevrolet Equinox but has a contract to assemble the next generation of Ecotec engines and the Cadillac XT5, which replaces the SRX. Thanks to the $185-million deal, employment there is expected to double by May 2016, according to Stannard, with roughly 1,800 additional union jobs. Beyond just several billboards, GM has job postings online for the Spring Hill plant looking for workers with specific skills. There has already been some interest in the positions among Nissan employees, Stannard indicated. According to a recent study by the Center for Automotive Research, the average GM worker currently makes $58 an hour, including benefits. Comparatively, Nissan pays an average of $42 an hour with benefits. The General's number could change in the coming weeks because its contract with the UAW is about to expire, and higher wages are among the major negotiating points.
Nissan Leaf has outsold Chevy Volt by 50% so far in 2015
Tue, Sep 1 2015We know, we know. The Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf sales numbers for mid- to late-2015 aren't all that meaningful because of the impending arrival of the next-gen Volt and the expected but not-yet-totally-confirmed debut of the second version of the Leaf. Nonetheless, tracking the sales of the first two major plug-in vehicles is something that remains interesting to us, if for nothing else that the all-electric Leaf remains slightly more popular than the plug-in hybrid Volt after all this time. If we just look at August, the numbers were basically tied in the US. Chevy sold 1,380 Volts while Nissan moved 1,393 Leafs. But when we take a 10,000-foot view, the differences starts to appear. So far in 2015, GM has sold 8,315 Chevy Volts while Nissan has sold 12,383 Leafs. That means that the Nissan has outsold the Chevy by around 50 percent (to be specific, it's 48.92 percent). Since the two vehicles went on sale in the US at roughly the same time at the end of 2010, 81,672 Volts have been sold, compared to 84,705 Leafs. That's a difference of only 3,033 vehicles, so proponents of both powertrains can hold their heads high. Looking just at last month, Volt sales were 45 percent lower compared to August 2014. So far this year, Volt sales are down 36.7 percent. The Leaf didn't fare any better. Month-to-month, Leaf sales were down 43.7 percent in August, while year-to-date, Leaf sales are down 65.3 percent. Those second-gen models can't come soon enough. As always, we'll have our broader wrap-up of monthly green car sales for August up soon. Stay tuned. Green Chevrolet Nissan Electric Hybrid ev sales
Chevy Volt has worst sales month since August 2011, Nissan Leaf also down
Tue, Feb 3 2015January is traditionally a time when new car shoppers take a break. For the last few years, if we isolate our focus to just the first two major plug-in cars in the US market, we see that the first month of the year was lower – often dramatically lower – than the 11 that followed. So, when you see the Chevy Volt dropped and Nissan Leaf sales figures for January 2015, don't be too surprised. The Volt sold only 542 units last month, that model's lowest since August 2011. That also represents a 41 percent drop from January 2014, and it reinforces the thought that if anyone out there is interested in a new Volt, they're going to be waiting for the new model to drop later this year. While we do expect sales to climb in February and into spring, we won't be surprised if the general Volt trend remains quiet until the second-generation arrives. On the Leaf side of the ledger, January's low sales numbers were still about twice as high as the Volt's – the Leaf sold 1,070 units last month, the lowest since February 2013 – but it did break a streak for the Japanese automaker. Usually, each month represents at least an increase over the same month a year ago, but that wasn't the case this time. In January 2014, Nissan sold 1,252 Leafs. Still, Brendan Jones, Nissan's director of electric vehicle sales and infrastructure, issued an upbeat statement: "We saw a significant increase in demand in December from Nissan Leaf customers looking to take advantage of federal and state incentives at the end of the tax year, which pulled some sales ahead. We're confident that EV sales will continue to rise over time due to increasing emission regulations and other reasons for purchase of EVs such as lower operating costs, reducing dependence on foreign energy sources, environmental concerns and a great driving experience." The numbers will tell us soon enough. News Source: General Motors, Nissan Green Chevrolet Nissan Electric Hybrid ev sales brendan jones
