If you are looking for a perfect looking car with no blemishes, stop reading. This car was produced back when car companies were trying to save money and used inferior paint products. The clear coat has begun to peel.
So, what do we have here? A true muscle car. Over $15,000 has been invested into this car, mostly between the motor and transmission. A custom made 3 inch catback exhaust has been installed. This is a car for a true enthusiast, not a cheap beginner car for teenagers.
25th Anniversay, Black, 1992 Z28, Automatic, 5.7 liter engine with MPFI. 173,000 miles.
The good:
5.7 liter motor rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago, easily 400+ HP
BBK throttle body
Edelbrock heads and headers
a more agressive cam than stock
Rebuilt transmission w/shift kit, less than 1,000 miles
Clean interior, non smoker, minor wear/tear on Driver's seat(see pic, from getting in/out), carpet is complete
Solid body, no undercarriage rust
Power windows, door locks, seat, steering, brakes
Cruise
The bad:
A/C need recharging (brand new compressor put in last year, system prob has a small leak)
Clear coat starting to peel in places
Minor damage to driver's front fender
2 small rust bubbles on roof (end of driver's door rail and passenger's side top of windshield)
Speedometer needs work (odometer works normally, wrong speedometer motor installed)
Computer eproms need to be reflashed to accomodate motor changes
I bought this car while I was in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii, and after retiring I moved to Iowa. The car has been stored winters since I brought it here, so it's not been exposed to the rust causing salts they use on the roads. I am guessing the previous owner had the windshield replaced as the one rust bubble looks like it was from a careless installer nicking the paint (see pic).
On the speedometer, it had started jumping 20-40mph and the shop replaced the motor on the instrument cluster. The speedomter started reading high (and the shop was bought out), so after a lot of research, I believe the motor they used is what they call an 8-pulse motor and the sender on my transmission is a 12-pulse, so the speed showed ~1.5x actual speed. It's currently set up to be accurate at 60mph, so it reads low <60 and high >60. As stated, the odometer works normally, it has a separate motor.
This car is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction with no notice.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. GM extends production cuts, affects Cadillacs, Camaro and Acadia
Thu, Apr 8 2021General Motors is extending production cuts at some of its North America factories due to a chip shortage that has roiled the global automotive industry, the U.S. carmaker said on Thursday. The move's impact has been baked into GM's prior forecast that the shortage could shave up to $2 billion off this year's profit. GM's Lansing Grand River assembly in Michigan will extend its downtime through the week of April 26. The plant makes Chevrolet Camaros and Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans. It has been out of action since March 15. GM's Spring Hill assembly in Tennessee will shut down for two weeks starting the week of April 12. The plant makes the Cadillac XT5, XT6 and GMC Acadia. The company said it has not taken downtime or reduced shifts at any of its more profitable full-size truck or full-size SUV plants due to the shortage. The news was first reported by CNBC. Kurt Busch suspended indefinitely after losing appeal
Sun, Feb 22 2015NASCAR has officially suspended Kurt Busch indefinitely after he was found in violation of two specific clauses in the stock racing rulebook, specifically "Actions detrimental to stock car racing" and a "Behavioral Penalty." Earlier in the week, the State of Delaware issued an Order of Protection from Abuse against him after a case detailing alleged domestic violence committed by Busch against his girlfriend, Patricia Driscoll, reached its conclusion. Busch and his legal team have exhausted all of their appeals options, meaning the indefinite suspension is official and final. Busch will not take part in the Daytona 500, which kicks off the 2015 NASCAR season today. Regan Smith will drive the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Chevrolet today at Daytona. It's not yet clear if Busch will face criminal charges over the domestic abuse incident. A Commissioner for Kent County in Delaware found that a "preponderance of evidence" led him to conclude that Busch did indeed commit "an act of domestic violence" against Driscoll, but that is a separate matter from the police investigation into the incident that is now in the hands of the office of the attorney general. NASCAR INDEFINITELY SUSPENDS DRIVER KURT BUSCH Daytona Beach, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2015) -- NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Kurt Busch for actions detrimental to stock car racing following the release today of a supplemental disposition setting forth the findings and conclusions that formed the basis for the Family Court of the State of Delaware's decision on Monday to issue an Order of Protection from Abuse against him. Busch, driver of the No. 41 car, was found to be in violation of: • Section 12.1.a: Actions detrimental to stock car racing • Section 12.8: Behavioral Penalty "Given the serious nature of the findings and conclusions made by the Commissioner of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Kurt Busch, effective immediately. He will not be allowed to race nor participate in any NASCAR activities until further notice. "Kurt Busch and his Stewart-Haas Racing team are fully aware of our position and why this decision was made. We will continue to respect the process and timetable of the authorities involved."
