I will attempt to describe and disclose the condition of the vehicle to the best of my knowledge, but remember this is a 26 year old car.  Hopefully my pictures answer your questions.  This is a survivor, so it’s not perfect, and all the “patina” was there when I bought the car.  It’s an excellent candidate for a fresh coat of paint to make it look perfect, if that’s what you want, but I prefer the untouched look.  As the pictures show….There is NO rust.  The paint still has a nice glossy finish and looks great in the sun.   In the almost 7 years I have owned the IROC, it was always stored and covered (cover included) in my heated garage and only saw rain once.  It has the look of a 26 year old car with 90,000 miles.  The car is very straight with a few minor dings and scratches (scrape on the passenger mirror, small dimple in the hood, and some divots in the front air dam).  It obviously has all the original stripes and badging.  The original wheels are like new with no pitting or corrosion.  The tires are old but they still have tread.  I am including a new set of tires for you to install when you’re ready (see picture, not installed on the car).  Brakes work great.  The convertible top is in good shape, some wear on the driver’s side but not worth replacing and the back window is very clear.  The interior is in great condition with no rips or tears.  The leather wrapped steering wheel shows signs of wear but not serious.  The heater core is bypassed (not sure why, it was when I bought it), but I am including a new core (pictured, not installed).  The driver and passenger windows are tinted.  The engine, drivetrain, and exhaust (no cat with Flo Pro muffler) are in great condition.  As the pictures show the engine compartment is very clean.  The following components were replaced in the past 4 years:  spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel injectors, IAC, Throttle position sensor, radiator, recovery tank, windshield washer tank, Mass airflow sensor, coolant sensor, air temp sensor, alternator, power steering pump, muffler, and EGR.  The components were probably original, so it was time.  The vehicle is sold As-is with no warranty.  The IROC is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the listing early.  Shipping cost and arrangements is the buyers responsibility.  $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of end of auction.  Balance due within 7 days of auction close and must be received prior to shipping or pickup.  Thank you

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.

GM recalls 638,000 U.S. SUVs, trucks for unintended braking

Sat, Nov 2 2019

WASHINGTON — General Motors is recalling 638,000 U.S. sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks because a wheel-speed sensor could fail and cause unintended braking, it said Thursday. The recall covers 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and Yukon and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. The sensor failure could result in unintended activation of the driveline protection system, and cause unintended braking of the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor. That could cause the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash, the Detroit automaker said. GM said it was not aware of any crashes relating to the issue but found 150 field claims alleging the condition caused unintended braking or lateral vehicle motion. A GM dealer in May submitted a warranty report relating to the issue in a 2018 GMC Yukon, and two days later, a GM brand quality manager submitted the report to GMÂ’s Speak Up For Safety program that tracks potential safety issues, which prompted a GM investigation and testing. Sinkhole Opens Up In National Corvette Museum, Swallows Eight Cars

Wed, Feb 12 2014

More cars are being moved inside the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Ky. to avoid falling down the same sinkhole that swallowed eight classic sports cars early this morning, Autoblog reported. Museum officials said the hole was discovered when motion sensors activated around 5:45 a.m. The rescue mission can be viewed on the museum's live feed cameras, which weren't working after the sinkhole emerged. A 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 "Blue Devil," both on loan from General Motors, were among the cars that fell into the sinkhole. The museum owned the other affected Corvettes, which included a 1963 Corvette, a 1984 PPG Pace Car and the 1 millionth Corvette ever produced. The state of the cars at the bottom of the hole isn't known, but trial lawyer and sinkhole expert Ted Corless said the cars may be a total loss for the museum and GM. "Most states, including Kentucky, exclude damage caused by sinkhole activity," he said. "There will be, in all likelihood, a claim made, but a lot of policies would specifically exclude these kinds of damages." Corless has 15 years experience dealing with sinkholes. He said that typically neither the building, nor the cars themselves are protected under their insurance policies. "I would have to say, more likely then not, they're going to have an uninsured loss measured in the hundreds of thousands of dollars." The museum is closed Wednesday while a structural engineer assesses the damage.
