1988 Chevy Camaro Z28 Iroc on 2040-cars
Caldwell, New Jersey, United States
I am selling my 1988 Iroc Camaro Z28, it is in partially restored condition and runs and drives with no problems! The car has t-tops ,fresh rebuilt original auto trans with warranty, and a very healthy 5.0 liter V-8 TPI. The car also has power windows, power locks, very clean grey cloth interior, and air conditioning that blows cold but could use a recharge. The car only has 112,000 miles on it and the car has zero rust; the car is really clean and drives super tight as it has all new suspension parts and Hotchkis lowering springs. I switched the rear out to a 9 bolt Posi Disc brake unit with 3.27 gears. All new brakes, car stops on a dime. This car turns heads and looks good and drives down the road awesome. Fresh tune-up and emission electronics, ECU and sensors so the check engine light went away. New flow master cat back exhaust and Magnaflow cat along with welds. The wheels are factory 16 inch iroc wheels (Professionally painted graphite), the tires are brand new Faulkens. The car has all new weatherstripping, so the T-Tops don't leak and the outer door felt ones are not all cracked. Additionally, the paint has been freshened up and all new decals were added. The gauges all work except the tach is a little off. This wasn't a show car paint job, the clear coat was faded and peeling so I had that stripped off and repainted. Here is a complete list of new items:
Rebuild Trans - $2,535 includes new torque converter and shift kit Paint and bodywork - $1,500 Exhaust &Cat - $550 Tires - $500 Disc rear end - $450 Brakes & calipers - $450 - includes new master cylinder and proportioning valve Hotchkiss springs - $350 Lakewood trailing arms $100 struts & shocks $200 ECU, MASS airflow & other sensors - $400 Weatherstripping $450 Decals - OEM $300 Gray seats $200 Total $7,935 The only things that could use some attention at some point are the carpet, the radio, and the rear hatch motor, other than that its good to go, anywhere you want to drive it! I love, love, love this car but now I have a kid on the way in January so the Warden (wife) says she has to go. Email me or feel free to call or text me 973-615-4504. |

GM opens official investigation into C8 Corvette transmission leaks
Mon, Nov 1 2021In March 2020, a month after Chevrolet began customer deliveries of the 2020 C8 Corvette, a GM dealer technician created a Reddit thread about a leaking gearbox in a Corvette with 32 miles. That car hadn't even been sold yet. Since then, as a search of "C8 Corvette transmission leak" shows, it's been tales of woe for some owners. Something in the Tremec TR-9080 transaxle in the back of the mid-engined Corvette doesn't work as it should, the fault able to cause codes that the transmission needs service, or that the driver needs to shift to park. In some cases, the battery would die because of follow-on issues after the initial transmission code, that code preventing the car from powering down. As Autoevolution reports, GM filed paperwork with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in August to look into what's going on. Between forum threads and GM's investigation document, there are several issues mentioned. The most common appears to be the dual-clutch transmission leaking fluid due to gasket failures like the one suffered by one owner at 858 miles, and another for an owner currently enduring a second leaking transmission. The Midengined Corvette Forum reported that Chevy engineers redesigned the TR-9080 pan, fitting Corvettes with the new unit at some point in the 2021 model year. The original pan was stamped steel unit affixed to the engine with two studs and 13 bolts, plus "reinforcement plates." The updated pan is said to be a cast aluminum unit affixed with two studs and 17 bolts, omits the reinforcement plates, and gets a new machined new groove around its edge to seat the gasket seal. The GM paperwork now at the NHTSA mentions a P1789 code, and says one reason for it could be "debris on the park position sensor magnet causing an incorrect position reading to the TCM." This might be caused by another issue mentioned in forums, which is clogged transmission filters. GM gives instructions for returning transmission filters to the company, and a poster on one forum said the Corvette tech at the dealer where he bought his Corvette told him the automaker "requires every used transmission filter to be returned to GM."Â Whatever's going on, the problems haven't stopped, and they go beyond the P1789 code. Over the weekend, a 2022 Corvette owner posted on Corvette Forums that he got a check engine light on his car after just 850 miles.
Why does Chevy want to trademark Camaro Krypton?
Mon, Jun 1 2015The Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang have the type of long-lived rivalry that is often found in the pages of comic books. Is the Camaro the Kryptonite to the Mustang's Superman, though? We might get to find out soon, if two recent trademark filings are any hints. On May 5, General Motors filed trademarks in the US for both Krypton and Camaro Krypton (not pictured above). While the move seemed potentially timed with the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, engineer Al Oppenheiser shot that theory down to The Detroit Free Press. "I think that's just Internet buzz, which is great," he said to the newspaper about the alleged connection. "It's another thing about this segment of cars: there's always Internet buzz." Rather than a special edition connected to next the superhero film, Oppenheiser speculated something else. "Sometimes when we come up with a new color in our studios, they just apply [for a trademark] in case we ever use it," he said to The Detroit Free Press. "We never said we're going to do anything with that color." Still, as Superman's home planet and part of the name for the mineral that can harm him, Krypton undoubtedly has a superhero connection. To maintain the link to the comics, such a color would likely be a shade of green. Although, depending on the depiction in the books, the exact hue can vary between bright neon and a darker tone.
