1976 Chevrolet Camaro Lt Time Capsule Original Survivor 32k Miles Stored 20years on 2040-cars
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, United States

This is Barn find fresh so to say but it does run and drive. I am located In Oconomowoc WI 53066 Thats just off hwy I-94 between Milwaukee and Madison. Car is for sale locally so the listing may end early. Call text or email me for more pics if you like. 262-490-3759 I have done very little to it to keep the cost down to the next owner. If I had it portered out tuned up and new rubber rims and exhaust put on it the next owner may have rather done the work themselves to save on the money or just to do it for fun not to mention wheels and tires I like may not be the same choice for someone els. If I was going to keep it I would remove the side pipes but you may love them? Car starts right up runs and drives quite well for sitting as long as it has It has a New battery in it. Car has vintage real HOOKER HEADERS with paired LOUD HOOKER side pipes, they look like they are from the 70s. Interior looks terrific no cracks in the dash. Very little to no fading on the rest of the interior, seats show no signs of wear with the exception of the previous owner was a big guy so the drivers seat cusion is squishy, don't really notice once your in the car. Also the only tear is a tiny slit from somebody sticking a screwdriver in the back pocket and sitting on the drivers seat. Headliner looks perfect. Carpets great also. Dash has some sticky areas on it but I have not tried cleaning it up. Both front and rear spoilers are there. Front and rear bumpers are super clean and straight as are the rubber impact moldings. Window seals and felt sweeps look like new. Car was covered up with stuff and was exposed to the sun very little. I can NOT find any rust holes in the entire body anywhere! maybe some surface rust if any it is very light. Floors and trunk are perfect almost like NEW SOLID! I dare you to find another original 76 Camaro thats as solid as this one! especially a WI car. There is no radio. However there are 2 speaks in the door panels and rear deck. Even the rear deck looks GREAT with little to no sun fading there When I drove it home the the heater core blew out, my guess it got to cold and split due to the anti freeze being so old. I had that replaced right away because we are in Wisconsin and its still COLD here. Since than it has not leaked any antifreeze at all. Brakes are good it doesn't leak anything runs nice and cool (still has 20 year old oil and antifreeze in it) So I would not drive it far plus the tires are shot! it also comes with another set of tires and keystone rims that are all shot also. Car is still covered with dust from where it was found. Looks to be all original paint with the exception of the right rear quarter panel. I was told he got key scratched there. I looked real good and could not find any sign of body damage or major repairs but there is some paint lifting by the bumper. That body work was done in june/1992, the dated touch up paint can is in the trunk. That was also the last year up until now that the car was on the road. |

GM exploring ways to raise half-ton Duramax diesel tow rating
Sun, Nov 3 2019Lots of truck owners cheered when GM announced fuel economy numbers for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with the 3.0-liter Duramax diesel inline-six. Even after Ram let loose its EPA mileage ratings for the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, the Chevy oil-burner still took the trophy. The victory was years in the making, GM engineers spending an entire four-year development cycle refining the LM2 Duramax to increase mileage. The tradeoff, as well all know by now, is towing; the Duramax in half-ton duty pulls a maximum 9,300 pounds in the Silverado. Rivals across town can do more, the Ford F-150 PowerStroke rated at 11,500, the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel game to pull 12,560. GM engineer John Barta told Muscle Cars & Trucks that more hauling chops could be on the way, explaining, "We’re actually looking at upgrading some of the materials around (the engine bay) to see if we can maybe raise our tow rating." Engine bay materials are at issue due to thermal complexities underhood. John Barta, GM's assistant chief engineer of diesel engine controls, said the Duramax's inline-six configuration allowed engineers to get emissions hardware like the combined selective catalytic reduction, diesel oxidation catalysts, and diesel particulate filter unit closer to the engine, where it heats up quicker, getting emissions down quicker. But that filter puts another heat source in those confines, enforcing a cap on the tow rating to keep the engine and other systems from overheating. "If you look under the hood," he said, "youÂ’ll see a significant amount of silver ‘moon tapeÂ’ around to make sure things arenÂ’t getting overheatedÂ… if we were to go up in higher towing, which we can, we start impacting the possibility of deteriorating some of the components.” There isn't much space for more grille, so swapping for a better grade of "moon tape" or a different kind of material could reduce engine bay heat, extracting a higher tow rating in the process. It's important to note a point Barta's been making for months about the Duramax figures, though. "Even though itÂ’s nice to brag about big numbers, in reality, light duty customers are not towing that large with their trucks," and, "We do know that (95 percent) of our light duty customers donÂ’t tow over 9,000 pounds." On our First Drive of the 2020 Silverado diesel we called out the tow rating, but emphasized that the Chevy and GMC have more important challenges to overcome.
Ford Police Interceptors dominate Michigan State Police testing
Tue, Nov 1 2016Once again, Ford Motor Company builds the fastest police vehicles. The Blue Oval touted the news in an official release following Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department testing. Ford did very well. Except for one acceleration metric – zero to 10 miles per hour – the Blue Oval's Taurus and Explorer-based cop cars were the quickest, with particular praise coming for the EcoBoost-powered models, which bested Chevrolet and Dodge's V8-powered variants. Dearborn's products also posted the fastest average times around MSP's vehicle dynamics course. But it wasn't all positive for Ford. The only four-cylinder in the contest, the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost Ford SSP Sedan, had both the lowest top speed, 120 mph, and the slowest acceleration figures. It was also the slowest in track testing. Ford's products also failed to match the braking and top speeds of its rivals from Detroit and Auburn Hills – the rear-drive Charger Pursuit posted the best braking stats of the entire test, while the V8-powered Chevrolet Caprice hit the highest top speed, at 155 mph. Ford did score a top speed award, among SUVs, but at 132 mph, the naturally aspirated Police Interceptor Utility had to share its award with the equally fast, rear-drive Chevrolet Tahoe. The LA County Sheriff's timing isn't publicly available, but according to Ford, the EcoBoost-powered police cars put on a similarly impressive show for cops on the West Coast. We've assembled a spreadsheet on Google Docs that offers an easy to browse comparison of the different stats assembled by the Michigan State Police, and divided the vehicles between standard V6-powered sedans, high-performance sedans (EcoBoost and V8 models), and SUVs. Hot Wheels Camaro to make big debut at Indy
Fri, 05 Apr 2013Chevrolet handed over the keys to 33 Hot Wheels Camaro Convertible Indianapolis 500 festival cars this week. Race directors get the luxury of driving the droptops around Indianapolis in an ongoing tradition with roots all the way back to the 1960s. The stunt is supposed to remind area residents that the Indy 500 is right around the corner. The cars are our first look at the special Camaro Hot Wheels Edition in convertible form, and they are slated to head to dealers after a one-time production run. The cars also represent the first time in history full-size Hot Wheels have been offered for sale by an automaker.
The cars will be available in both the previously seen coupe bodystyle and this convertible configuration, and will feature metallic blue paint and special wheels with the iconic redline accent. Buyers will be able to choose between the V6-powered 2LT trim and the V8-powered 2SS guise.
Hot Wheels says the original Custom Camaro toy was one of the original 16 1:64-scale diecasts, and it remains one of the company's most valuable collector items today.
