I am listing my 1974 Z28 Camaro that I purchased in 1987 again due to a buyer default on the last auction. I am the third owner and when I purchased the car, I purchased the body and a 10 bolt rear end. I then put a 12 bolt rear end in it with 4:10 Richmond gears. The transmission is a 400 turbo with a shift kit and a 3000 stall converter and the trans was worked on by a local professional. The engine is a 454 bored 30 over with a steel LS 7 crank with dimple rods and 11:1 TRW Pistons. The intake is a twisted torker intake with a Holley 780 carb. The cam is a Competion hydraulic cam (305/ 575), and it has a Pete Jackson gear drive. The heads have double valve springs and Cam Dynamics roller rockers. I don't remember the exact size of the valves in the heads, but they we're ported and polished in the late 90s. It has an HEI ignition with an MSD 7A. There are 2 half inch aluminum fuel lines that run to the front one for the carb and one for the Nitrous. It also has a cheater nitrous system and a B&M ratcheting shifter with the nitrous button on the handle. The headers are new two inch headers and the photo is of new Flow Masters which are three inch and the pipes are three inch also that go with the car and never installed. I never really got the nitrous and the plugs dialed in right, but the car ran consistently in the mid 12 s in the quarter mile with the Hoosier Quicktime d.o.t tires on the back which are screwed to the rims. There is also a new aluminum three core radiator that was just installed this year.
There has never been any metal taken out of the car and the LS 7 scoop on the hood is a mold in type and is cracked around the mold and was like that when I purchased a vehicle. There is some paint chipping on the hood, roof, and trunk deck near the fender wells and rusting on the passenger side and some underneath. The paint job is from the early 80's and has not been painted or touched since. The metallic in the paint is the type that changes colors in the light.
I have not raced this Camaro on the street or strip since the late 90's but have driven it to car shows including this year. It has been in my garage on a cement floor since and starts and runs great. If you live close, we can go for a spin and through the quarter mile on the back road where I still shift it at six grand. I'm selling because I do not have the money to play with it or restore it. Got a sone going to college and others growing up too. This is my baby so let me know if you have any questions.
If you check out the vin, it came with the high horse 350 with the munci four speed and is an LT/Z28. The fifth digit being a "t" signifies the LT/Z28 (1S87T4N172068) The clutch peddle is still in the car wire tied out of the way. If anyone would like a video of the car running or additional photos just let me know.
THIS IS A LOCAL PICK UP ONLY AND IF YOU WANT IT SHIPPPED, YOU'LL HAVE TO ARRANGE THAT ON YOUR END. $500 IS DUE WITHIN 48 HRS AT THE END OF THE AUCTION AND THE BALANCE DUE WITHIN SEVEN DAYS BEING CASH, OR A CASHIER'S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER FROM A U.S. BANK WHICH WE WILL CLEAR BEFORE THE CAR LEAVES.

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm
Thu, Jan 8 2015Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
Nissan Leaf sales drop, new Chevy Volt climbs in November
Tue, Dec 1 2015This is probably just how things are going to be from now on. With the second-gen Chevy Volt available in some states and Nissan dragging its heels on getting a true new version of the Leaf onto dealer lots, it's no surprise that plug-in vehicle shoppers are turning to the Volt in a big way. Yes, we know that a pure EV and a PHEV are not the same and that the Volt and the Leaf are quite different cars, but after all of this time tracking the two plug-in sales champions, we feel obliged to continue our monthly look at who's selling how many of what. Here goes. We'll start with the mediocre news. That'd be the Leaf sales, which came in at just 1,054 units last month. That's the lowest monthly sales total for all of 2015 and, in fact, the lowest month of Leaf sales since February 2013. It's also a 60.8 percent drop from November 2014's sales of 2,687. This despite the fact that you can now get a new Leaf with a longer range of 107 miles (vs. 84) for a higher cost. The new Volt (along with the first-gen Volts that are still being sold out there), on the other hand, was up 49 percent, to 1,980 sales. That gave the Volt its best November ever, "on both a total and retail basis," GM says. The Volt beat the Leaf in October, too, and we suspect this is going to be the story until Nissan figures out how to get people excited about a five-year-old model or introduces the second edition. As always, we'll have a fuller wrap-up of US green car sales in our By The Numbers report soon. Green Chevrolet Nissan Electric Hybrid ev sales
Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay slated for Chevrolet lineup
Wed, May 27 2015Long awaited, the race among automakers to keep drivers connected to their smartphones has officially entered a new era. Hyundai said Tuesday it would be the first manufacturer to put Google's Android Auto into a production car, the 2015 Hyundai Sonata sedan. Not to be outdone, General Motors said today it'd offer both Android Auto and Apple's CarPlay on several Chevrolet models set to hit dealerships this summer. By giving car buyers the choice between these rival phone-projection systems, Chevrolet hopes to quell concerns from prospective customers worried about the compatibility of their smartphones and vehicles. "It's about providing choice," said Alicia Boler-Davis, GM's senior vice president for global connected car consumer experience. "No two customers are alike, and we cannot expect a single solution that works for every driver in every situation." Across the industry, automakers are rushing to add both to their cars as a growing base of customers seek an array of connected features. Estimates from automotive technology research firm SBD indicate smartphone-integrated content is available in 36 percent of current vehicles, and the company expects that penetration rate will grow to 84 percent by 2025. For Chevrolet, the systems will be available on select 2016 iterations of the Cruze, Camaro, Volt, Spark and Malibu as early as next month, and appear on 14 Chevy models overall for the 2016 model year. They're available on all trim levels, but they only work with the company's MyLink infotainment package installed in the cars, and the first to hit showrooms will only work on the seven-inch touchscreen models. "CarPlay and Android Auto, these are things that are addressable to the broad market, and I think it makes a lot of sense for GM to put it into Chevys first," IHS Automotive senior analyst Mark Boyadjis said. Via physical connections, both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow users access to smartphone features like turn-by-turn directions, phone calls, voice-to-text messages and music streaming. Interfaces are similar to the ones found on the respective smartphones, but on the dashboard, they're redesigned for a simpler, in-car experience. Fonts are larger, for example, and easier to press on a touchscreen. CarPlay relies heavily on Siri so that drivers spend more time staring at the road instead of their touchscreen. That sounds good, at least in theory.
