Up for auction today I have a 1998 Chevrolet K3500 Crew cab long bed 4x4. The truck is in pretty decent shape for its age and mileage. It runs and drives just fine. The engine and transmission operate without problems. The truck has a current Louisiana inspection on it and I have driven it hundreds of miles on occasion without a problem. Brakes, radiator, exhaust, steering components, tie rods, plugs, rotors, fuel pump, and numerous other items have been completed in the last 3-6 months. Tires will need to be replaced soon. There are a few lights inside the cab out. Please study the pictures and feel free to contact me if you should have any questions. The truck is rust free, it shows decently. There a couple dings and dangs, scratches etc. Hood and roof are heavily faded. Sides are decent, bed is ok, all I have is the grill tailgate. I have a set of factory steel wheels if you would like one set or the other. We were going to use this truck for hunting only but plans have changed and I figured I would release it back into the wild. It does drive well, heater and A/C work and I would not be worried to hop in it and drive it most anywhere. This is a Used vehicle and I am selling it AS-IS. I dont really have anything to hide about it. I did not wash it or juice it up, it is what it is. If you are looking at this auction you know what it is. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, If you would like to see it in person come on down, it is located in Houma, Louisiana. I would like cash in person for payment or a deposit of $500 dollars paid via paypal if you are going to be more than 3 days to pick it up. I reserve the right to sell it at anytime during the auction. BUT if the auction runs and you are the high bidder, you just bought yourself a truck. If you would like I may be able to assist in delivery within a reasonable distance. I am also open to trades plus cash or direct trades, for boats, trucks, cars, tools, etc. Just let me know the worst thing I could say is no. Thanks for looking.

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson
Tue, Sep 25 2018Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?
Mon, Feb 9 2015An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes
How easy is it to rebuild a Chevy small block V8?
Sat, Mar 21 2015Chevrolet's famous small block V8 stands as one of the workhorse engines in American auto history, with its variants going into vehicles from hot rods to pickup trucks. But do you know that you can fully disassemble and completely restore one of these mills in just under four minutes? Well, as long as there's some assistance from time-lapse photography, that is. Hagerty created this short clip showing a dirt-covered small block turning from a frog into a prince. Thankfully, the time-lapse doesn't speed the process up too much, and it's still easy to see how all of the principal parts fit together. With all sorts of sensors and software helping to drive the modern automobile, viewing the internal combustion engine in its purely mechanical form is still fascinating.
