This is a 1997 Chevrolet C1500 2WD Crew Cab Short Bed pick up. Yes, a 2WD crew cab 1500! According to the VIN number, this truck rolled off the assembly line as a regular cab 2WD short bed. From 1988-1998, the only way to get a crew cab full size pick up, was to buy either a 2500 or 3500 series...which had a bigger frame and 8-lug axles, amongst other features. You could not get a 1500 in crew cab form. In 1997, Chevrolet sent out about 27 select trucks to a company called Centurion Conversions. They professionally stretched the frame, dropped on a crew cab body, and GM made them available to purchase. It is a very rare truck and there are not a lot of them out there. Half of the 27 or so trucks were 4WD's, which makes this one even rarer.
We bought the truck from it's original owner out of Texas in 2009, had it shipped to us here in Maryland, and immediately put it in my shop. The drivetrain is all stock with 184k miles. It starts, runs, and drives excellent, and everything works. From the end of 2009 through the summer of 2011, I completely dismantled the truck down to it's shell (leaving the interior and drivetrain intact), and overhauled the paint and body. The truck was a turquois green from the factory and is now a 2000 Buell motorcycle pearl purple. The right fender antenna and third brake lamp are shaved, and the rollpan is completely welded in place. The door handles and tailgate handles were left as factory. There is an LED third brake lamp mounted inside the cab at the top of the rear window (can't see it from the outside until the brake is depressed). The truck is lowered using Belltech suspension components and rides great. The wheels are Boss 20" wrapped in almost new tires. The interior is stock gray cloth and is in great condition. Remote start has been added as well.
We love the truck, but don't drive it as much as we'd like. We would rather see it go to a good home and enjoyed, then sit. I encourage any interested buyer close enough to come by and take a drive! Please do not hesitate to contact us anytime with any questions or concerns. Thanx for looking!

GM recalls Colorado, Canyon, and Malibu for airbag problem
Wed, Mar 9 2016The Basics: General Motors will recall and issue a stop sale on 1,740 total examples of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, Malibu, and GMC Canyon. This includes 1,579 units in the US and 161 in Canada. The Problem: The second stage of the driver front airbag inflator might not be present. If this happens, the airbag won't fill as quickly as it should in a high-speed crash, which could increase the risk of injury, according to Reuters. This is not related in any way to Takata's inflator problems, and these parts come from a different supplier. Injuries/Deaths: None reported. The Fix: GM will replace the vehicles' airbag assemblies. If You Own One: GM spokesperson Tom Wilkinson told Autoblog he wasn't specifically sure when recall repairs would begin but said it would be "shortly." He expects the fixes to happen "quickly" because of the small number of affected vehicles, and many of them are either in transport or already in dealer stock. More Information: GM recalled the 2015 Canyon and Colorado in 2014 for a completely separate airbag issue. In that case, a manufacturing error improperly wired the connectors. Related Video: GM Statement GM is recalling 1,579 MY 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Malibu vehicles in the United States and 161 in Canada to replace driver-side front airbags. The second stage of the airbag may not deploy properly in certain high-speed crashes. During a routine quality inspection, it was determined that a component required for a second-stage/high-output deployment was not loaded during the inflator build. Dealers will replace the driver-side front airbag assembly. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing Takata recalls.
Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
Camaro driver clocked at 171 miles per hour
Wed, Apr 13 2016Chevy's 2016 Camaro SS is a fantastic piece of automotive engineering. It is also, apparently, very, very fast. This latter fact was perfectly illustrated when, on April 8, a Camaro SS driver was nailed in Two Harbors, Minnesota for doing 171 mph. According to WFAA, the unnamed speed demon was flying down Highway 61 near Two Harbors when Hermantown, MN Deputy Police Chief Shawn Padden clocked him at an eye-watering 171 mph. He then recorded the speeder at 168 and 141. At the time, Deputy Chief Padden was working with Minnesota State Patrol on an anti-DWI program called "Toward Zero Deaths". Padden, who was interviewed by the Duluth News Tribune, said he was surprised at the driver's sheer speed. "When he went by me, it was a blur," Padden told the News. "You get used to seeing people going 65 or 70 and what that looks like. But I've never seen anything like this. It's like a rocket on wheels." Fadden chased the Camaro down eventually, but it took some doing. To catch the Camaro, he pushed his Dodge Charger Pursuit to 135 mph just to get into range so the Camaro could see his emergency lights. The speeding driver was ticketed for careless driving, but may lose his license due to a Minnesota law that gives courts the option of revoking licenses for drivers caught doing more than 100 mph.
