This is a restored with love 1978 classic chevy stepside that I call BUCK THE TRUCK after a deer theme. I decided a year ago I wanted a daily driver real truck. I had 2 new vehicles that broke down for reasons as little as the gas cap wasn't tight. So I decided to build my own reliable classic. I started a search for a perfect chassis. I found and had shipped to me a great K-10 it has a no frills 350 that when I purchased last year the motor had been rebuilt with 1000 miles on it and I haven't put more than a hundred since so you'll get a engine that will start every time and has such a wonderful sound as it runs. So no need to do any engine work.  It has a cast iron transfer case so again the most desirable durable case. Next look at the number of springs on the rear end and you'll understand the extra hauling ability. So I started with a wonderful truck. I then took the truck completely apart and repaired any areas of rust.  Not with bondo  I  replaced a few rust areas with new metal. So now I knew I wouldn't need to worry about rust for years. Then I primed and painted the truck with a single stage paint this is not a showroom paint job it has some orange peal a bit and a few scratches that I did oops but I wanted a daily driver. I spent a fortune as you can see with the camo accents.  I also stripped the inside it had no rust problems there but I had to see before I put new carpet in it.  The seat needed some help so I put in a slider on the driver side and some new springs then had it professionally covered with a mix between a tan vinyl and the center was made of actual tanned cow hide the back and sides of the seats were done in camo. The inside of the cab was painted black. The rubber was all replaced in the windows but the rear glass leaks a little so it needs to be replaced or repaired.  I may even do that before it sells if I get to it   The door panels were custom built with 2 sets of new speakers and the armrest are made of real oak hardwood.   The dash was covered in real tanned cowhide. So fading shouldn't be a problem as my wife informed me she has never seen a faded cow lol. But for a modern touch I mounted a brand new gps built into the dash. With the theme of deer I custom made a 4wheel shifter made from the antler base of a real deer. The gas gauge doesn't work and the heater fan has been put on a toggle switch to fix the fan switch.  The tires are a mixed set of 33-12.5-15. There is some dry rot on the tires but they hold air and drive fine.  They are an all terrain tire that I had plans on replacing with mud terrains. The front brush guard has 2 brand new fog light that are toggled inside. The rims are in pretty good shape the pics won't due them justice cause I've never cleaned them lol.  The tailgate is the old style chain with new chains.  Everything works perfect with the tailgate.  The bed was completely redone with new hardwood and what a great look it is. The deer print on the cab wall of the bed has two bed lights that shine in the bed with the dome light.  It has a heavy tow hitch with a drop down with ball and also pictures shows the antler hitch cover that comes with it. The bed sides where completely painted but I decided the Crome overlays looked too good to not add.   I have way more money and labor than I'll ever see but money is tight and I have to pay some bills so I can start a new project.  But I won't give it away. So if your wanting a real truck one that starts and runs great and can be worked on with ease this is the truck for you.   You could always start from scratch but you will be surprised how much money and time it takes and realize how cool it is that this one is ready to drive without doing a thing.  It just passed a  Missouri  inspection. The winning bidder will need to pay a 500 dollar non refundable deposit within 24 hours of the auctions end and the balance within 5 days. I won't ship so pick up her or winning bidder will have to have a curb side shipper to  Sullivan Missouri.   I've had several shipped that and they all went great.  Good luck  also duel tanks with duel exhaust

Weekly Recap: Lincoln Continental serves up the style, Cadillac CT6 delivers the substance in New York

Sat, Apr 4 2015

Lincoln and Cadillac grabbed the spotlight this week at the New York Auto Show in a dramatic fashion that evoked the brands' glory days. America's two luxury carmakers went toe-to-toe with their glittering reveals and plans for ambitious expansion. Both were selling their technology, style and the promise of a better future. Cadillac vs. Lincoln. At the Javits Center, 2015 seemed a lot like 1956. Neither company was interested in drawing comparisons with the other, which is fair, and accurate. They're in vastly different places in terms of sales and the pace of their turnarounds, but they hope to reach the same eventual destination at the pinnacle of the luxury-car world. Lincoln used the element of surprise to great effect with the Continental concept. A production version is still at least a year away, and the company was vague on details. Officially, we don't even know if it is front- or rear-wheel drive, though speculation abounds. Who cares? The seats can be adjusted 30 ways! The Continental also showed off a bold chrome grille that will be the new face of Lincoln. The blue bomber also rolled on blinged-out 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, used a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine and had huge LED head lights with "laser-assisted" high beams. All of this resulted in almost blinding attention. The concept drew rave reviews, stirred controversy with Bentley designers who argued Lincoln ripped them off, and most importantly, pointed a way forward for the newly determined brand that hopes to compete with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Lexus. View 32 Photos Meanwhile, Cadillac showed the CT6, a finished product that will top its range and is loaded with the best and latest technologies General Motors has at its disposal. With production starting late this year, Cadillac had more specifics at the ready. Engines? Cadillac has a couple V6s and a turbo four for sure. It's working on a hybrid, and has considered a V-Series variant. It's based on a new rear-wheel-drive, aluminum-intensive chassis called Omega, features an advanced collision-mitigation system with automatic braking and has a cabin that's laden with "leathers, exotic woods and carbon fiber." It will be assembled at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck factory and goes on sale next year. At this point, Cadillac is more than willing to talk about every except for the price. The devil was not in the details for Cadillac, as evidenced by the CT6. But it wasn't for Lincoln either.

EcoCar2 is on the hunt for a better, cleaner Chevy Malibu [w/video]

Thu, Jun 12 2014

The students spent three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. Not far from the building where General Motors once invented the Chevy Volt, a dozen or so college students are standing on the blacktop alongside a test track, watching a professional driver push the limits of a plug-in hybrid car they've built that's far more radical. These students, from Colorado State University, have spent the past three years transforming an ordinary Chevy Malibu into a revolutionary vehicle. At first glance, it still looks like a regular sedan. But under the hood, they've installed a hybrid powertrain that contains both hydrogen and electric power sources. Even by the standards of the Department of Energy competition they're participating in, it's an outlier. That's exactly what they had in mind. "We didn't want to come here and tell them how to build a better Volt," said Tom Bradley, faculty adviser for the Colorado State team. "They already know how to do that. We can tell them how to think about these possibilities in a whole new way." After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The Colorado State team was one of 15 that came to GM's Milford Proving Grounds last week for the final stretch of the EcoCar2 competition, which challenges regular college students who have no automotive experience to do nothing less than reinvent the American car. The teams have come from across North America, and include schools like Ohio State and Virginia Tech that have a long history of participating in similar competitions, and schools like the University of Washington and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University that are here for the first time. After three years of work, it all comes down to this. The teams have operated 24 hours a day for almost two weeks here at the Proving Grounds, running a gamut of tests that include a 310-point safety inspection, emissions and energy-consumption tests and road tests, in which professional GM drivers ensure they're road worthy. The winning team will be announced tonight in Washington D.C. Revolutionary cars, ordinary package While other green-car competitions encourage extreme designs, this one comes with a somewhat constraining twist: Yes, students must improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, but in the end, they still have to have a car that would appeal to mainstream customers. In practical terms, that means they must keep conveniences like air conditioning and trunk space.

Recharge Wrap-up: EV torque secrets, UC Davis maps future of biofuels

Fri, Jul 25 2014

A UC Davis white paper maps out "Three Routes Forward for Biofuels," balancing investment risk with carbon benefits. The first option is "incremental," in which we tinker with the existing biofuel manufacturing infrastructure for small improvements over time. The "transitional" plan suggests integrating cellulosic production and other innovations with existing operations. The third route, called "leapfrogging," would mean building refineries based on new technology such as cellulosic and algae-based biofuels. The paper suggests ways the US could use these three routes together in different areas, and predicts the payoffs in terms of carbon emissions could be significant if the right people are willing to risk the capital. After all, financial advisers are always telling investors to diversify their portfolios to manage risk and rewards in the same way. Read more over at the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies. The Formula E Long Beach ePrix will offer free admission. The seventh round of the inaugural all-electric race season, which was moved from Los Angeles to the streets of Long Beach, will offer fans free grandstand and general admission. The race, which takes place on April 5, 2015, will use a 1.6-mile portion of IndyCar's Grand Prix of Long Beach. Read more at LA Times. Polaris is now offering its 2015 GEM electric vehicles, including the new street-legal eM1400 LSV. The passenger and utility vehicles come in two- to six-passenger configurations, many of which are street legal on roads with posted speed limits of up to 35 miles per hour. The eM1400 LSV utility vehicle seats two, offers 1,250 pounds of payload, 1,250 pounds of towing capacity, a top speed of 25 mph and a range of up to 45 miles. Its on-board charger plugs into any standard 110-volt outlet. Read more at Hybrid Cars and check out all the different configurations yourself at the Polaris website. In EVs, more torque does not always equal faster. Green Car Reports found this out when driving the Fiat 500e (with 147 pound-feet) against the similarly weighted Chevrolet Spark EV (with 400 pound-feet). The secret is, at least in part, in the gearing. The Fiat has a 9.6:1 reduction gear, making it quicker at lower speeds despite having far less available torque, while the Chevy uses a 3:1 ratio. The trade-off though, is in top speed. Furthermore, Chevy electronically limits the torque delivery at low speeds, as 400 pound-feet is a lot of launch for the little Spark EV to handle.
