Ok, I will try and not ramble. I just want to pretend as if I'm the buyer looking for the information to help me best make a decision on the purchase price. I purchased this truck because it was rust free other than a spot behind the rear passenger wheel that is minor and very common on these trucks. This truck came from Arkansas for it's entire life until 2012. The frame is not pitted and the floor and all other body parts are rust free. This is an exceptional find in the midwest! It has a very sound 350 with a mild cam and a 4 barrel carb. The engine is responsive and will chirp the tires when shifting from 1st to 2nd because of the shift kit in the th350 transmission. The brakes work great. The truck starts and runs like it should. The exhaust doesn't leak even with headers. The exhaust tips are ugly, other than that the dual exhaust is good. The rear end is quiet. I believe it has 3:08 gears which would be good for mileage. I don't have a clue what it gets for mileage. The pictures tell the rest of the picture.
This truck was going to be a street rod project. I am including with the sale of this truck some parts that cost me over $1,000 dollars to purchase. I have a lowering kit that includes the drop spindles for the front, the rear lowering shocks, and the new spring perches for the axle flip. This would drop the truck about 6" with a coil cut in the front springs. Nothing else would need to be purchased to finish this job. The front shocks are like new and are not changed when lowering with the lowering spindles. I am also including a 2" cowl hood!! This hood was over $400 and is painted black. I also am including a complete $250 full set of window felt and door seals, weather stripping etc. I also purchased some very nice seats from a 92 chevy that fit really well in this square body truck. The truck has brand new Goodyear Eagle ST tires with the nubs still on them! I am also including two spares with good rally wheels. I am going to miss this truck and will kick myself when I go to try and replace it someday. It is really hard to find a rust free truck like this in the midwest. I bought a new Jeep and don't have space for both this and the Jeep. This truck is ready to drive wherever you want, or start stripping it down and get ready for paint or your street rod drag truck project. It is a great candidate for whatever you are looking to do. The frame and underside is in such great condition, it will be easy to work on or modify. I also have but am not including, a fully built Dana 44 posi rear end that is set up for this truck. It is ready to bolt right in. It came out of another 82 short box that was run down the local track a couple passes, and then was swapped out for a daily driver rear end. I would sell this for the right price and help you load it up in the truck when you pick this up. I also have a th400 tranny that is good that I would part with. I also have for the right offer, a very solid 406 sbc and a four core radiator. The 406 has a .480 Isky cam with solid lifters. It has some head work done to it and comes with new intake, carb, headers, and valve covers. Let me know if you areinterested in any of these. Maybe we can work out a deal. Maybe not. Please call me with any questions. My number is 319-231-8974. Thanks for looking. I priced this truck according to trucks that are similar that HAVE SOLD on Ebay, not based on what people are asking. It is a low mile truck that has a ton of potential. On May-21-14 at 04:31:56 PDT, seller added the following information: The Dana 44 that I am selling has 4.10 posi gears in it. I have the title in hand. Please feel free to call or text me with any questions as well. I am not advertising this truck locally at this point. It will sell right here on Ebay. I will work with any shipping company you choose to use. Have a great day! On May-21-14 at 04:36:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the air cleaner in the picture is one that i had on another car. I put this on to tune the carb for easy access. It does need a new filter....this one is really ugly, like someone sat on it ugly. |

Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe
Wed, Aug 23 2023Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in latest Head 2 Head
Fri, Jan 30 2015"Olympian" is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria's Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That's how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend's latest episode of Head 2 Head. The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that's a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there's a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That's not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, "One of the most incredible cars ever made," and says, "It changes everything." Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how. Related Video:
Optimus Prime and Bumblebee head for auction
Wed, Jan 6 2016This month at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ, the customized 1992 Peterbilt 379 of Optimus Prime from the Transformers series and director Michael Bay's own 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS for Bumblebee will cross the block. The company will sell both with no reserve, and they'll come with letters of authenticity. This specific Bumblebee is the mean-looking restomod from Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth installment in the franchise, and Bay apparently liked it enough to hang onto the aggressive coupe after filming. He even autographed the car for this sale. The Camaro would make a great star in a Hollywood chase scene with its LS3 V8, six-speed manual gearbox, Wilwood brakes, and custom suspension. Bumblebee also wears a menacing satin black body with yellow accents and custom carbon fiber fender flares. Optimus Prime's Peterbilt appeared on-screen in the first three Transformers films, the auction house's spokesperson Aaron Cook told Autoblog. An Autobot emblem sits proudly on top of the grille, and the truck wears a flame paintjob. Barrett-Jackson's description says that the semi is fully functioning but no longer street legal and is now for display only. It would likely be the ultimate piece in anyone's Transformers collection.
