For sale is my never ending 1970 C10 project. This truck started life in Texas as a long bed. Through the donor program, it now has short wheelbase frame, 1985 Chevy 1/2 ton front suspension (in order to easily convert to front disc brakes). The cab is the only remaining item that has not been changed (VIN plate goes to cab). The 12 bolt diff is out of another donor, of which I have no idea if is road ready or not, cover has not been pulled. New trailing arms and rear springs. I had the truck in the body shop and had the drip rail removed and was in the process of smoothing the fire wall when I trailed off to another project. I have new sheet metal ( front fenders, core support, cowl induction hood, the doors are new, new door hinges, new bed sides (short bed), new tail gate and rear roll pan. I have also the bed wood kit, but it is in long bed format, as the truck was when I started. I was going to cut those down to fit the short bed. I have all the chrome bed strips and mounting hardward for the wood bed kit. New rear cab corners and rocker panels have been welded in, just need to be ground down and clean up. The seats are out of a late model GTO, they are not bolted in truck and I have not build the mounting brackets to do so. I also had started an install of power windows, the driver side is in but needs to be adjusted to raise and lower smoothly, I have the remaining kit to install on pass side, think I bought this kit from Brothers. The cab is mounted to body with a new bushing kit, put in about 2 - 3 months ago. There is a 350 4 bolt main block that goes with the truck. Not sure the year or exactly where I got it at. There is some wear at top of cylinders but should clean up. I have a Ford diff that I had build in 07 that I was going to use for this truck but the direction of build went other ways. The reason was to get the rear disc brakes. As you can see from receipt, I had limited slip with 3.55 ratio installed. Again the cover has not been pulled since it was put together by driveline shop. It also has never been put in vehicle since build. There are several additional parts that goes with truck such as new door handles, some weather stripping, door locks, used master cylinder, keyless entry kit and extra body mounts. I would suggest a local purchase or bringing trailer to get, from my experience, most vehicle delivery companies will not mess with loose components. Buyer is responsible for any shipping requirements and fees. Please contact me with any questions and for shipping/payment information. 443-980-1269, tracy

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain
Sat, Aug 9 2014Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Performance cars overpower the Detroit Auto Show
Tue, Jan 13 2015At precisely the stroke of noon on Monday, the 2016 Acura NSX rolled on stage at the Detroit Auto Show amid plumes of smoke and dancing lights. The sounds of the powerful engine revving soared to the rafters. It was the second coming of Acura's iconic sports car, and the reveal had all of the expected trappings. Afterwards, champagne corks popped and the bubbly flowed. It was noon in Detroit, but for the green-car movement, it seemed like the clock had struck midnight. That's an exaggeration, but performance was the overwhelming theme of North America's most important show. Ford – which has helped lead the way in smaller displacement engines and early adoption of hybrid powertrains – had more than 1,500 horsepower on stage one point after it revealed the GT concept, the new F-150 Raptor and the Shelby Mustang GT350R. The NSX is technically a hybrid (it has three electric motors), but with 550-plus hp, there's no doubt this Acura was bred on the track. The theme continued throughout the show at nearly every stand. Alfa Romeo showed off the 4C Spider, which is the open-air version of a car that purports to be the spiritual successor of the high-performance 33 Stradale from 1967. On Tuesday, Cadillac is scheduled to reveal the 640-hp CTS-V with the V8 transplanted from the Corvette Z06, and the Lexus was expected to roll out its own V8-powered beast, the 467-hp GS F. For enthusiasts – especially enthusiasts with money – these are halcyon days. But make no mistake, all of this power has a purpose. Ford product chief Raj Nair said the Blue Oval uses high performance cars to develop technologies, like aerodynamics and materials, which are then shared across its lineup. "It's another proof point about how serious we are in developing innovation through performance," he said. Ford, which is rolling out at least 12 performance cars by 2020, said the sporty cars attract younger and more influential buyers to its fold, which can help burnish its image beyond adding sales volume. Toyota is taking a similar approach, senior vice president Bob Carter said, noting the Lexus RC coupe draws people into showrooms and gets them excited about the brand, even if they don't end up buying one. "They provide an aspiration and a halo that provides the attention that gets you noticed in a cluttered market," he said.
Chevrolet considering midsize crossover to slot between Traverse and Equinox
Mon, Jan 9 2017Crossovers are the new hotness, and automakers are looking to cash in by offering a size and shape for every customer. With Chevrolet's debut of the new 2018 Traverse in Detroit, which grew ever so slightly compared to the first-generation model, there is now a midsize-crossover-sized hole between the three-row Traverse and the compact Equinox. When asked about that obvious space, a Chevrolet spokesperson told us the company is looking into the possibility of expanding its crossover lineup. It should be a relatively simple thing to do, since all it would take is reskinning and rechristening the GMC Acadia with a bow tie, and we all know how much GM loves platform sharing. Although they're now different sizes, the new Acadia and Traverse still use the same platform; the Acadia is now on a short-wheelbase version of the C1XX while the Traverse uses long-wheelbase C1XX parts. A short-wheelbase Chevy built on the C1XX likely would be differentiated visually from both the Acadia and the larger Traverse. It may seem like flooding the lineup with more and more models would cannibalize sales of existing ones, but Chevrolet said it would rather have customers stay within the brand rather than going to another automaker. There have been whispers that some form of the Blazer name (possibly TrailBlazer) may make a return on a midsizer, but if it does don't expect an old-school body-on-frame SUV like the old one. In the end, if Chevy builds it, customers will come. Related Video:
