I'm the 2nd owner of this 2004 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4 Wheel Drive. I LITERALLY bought it from the proverbial 90 year old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays. The mileage is correct. It had 10,000 miles when I bought it 6 years ago and it has 41,063 miles today. It has the 190 horsepower 4.3 liter vortech V6 engine. It is in excellent shape. Everything works great mechanically. It drives great. Never wrecked. No rust. The body is super straight. The paint is shiny, with only very few minor rock/door dings expected on a vehicle this age. The interior is clean. It has always been garage kept. It has cold AC, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, tilt, cruise, power driver seat, leather wrapped steering wheel, and overhead console. I keep it serviced and use Mobil One synthetic oil and K&N oil filters. It has never been off road. The push button 4WD works great though. I've used it in the snow here a couple times.

I added the 16 inch alloy wheels from Tire Rack, a Curt hidden hitch receiver, nerf step bars, front bumper guard, 2.5 inch suspension lift from Rough Country, pioneer cd/mp3 head unit with integrated XM satellite radio receiver, Polk speakers in the front doors, Kicker speakers in the back doors.

The suspension lift included 4 new shocks, shackles in the back, rear sway bar relocation hardware, upper control arms in the front with new ball joints, front torsion bar keys, and front differential relocation bracket. It's not a big lift (at all), but it's done right. And it's not jacked up or anything, as you can see from the pics. I had it installed last year just to make the vehicle look better. I never liked the way the stock 4wd Blazers were so low to the ground. It just sits like a normal 4WD SUV now, like a pathfinder or 4Runner.

The only issue I know of is the ABS light comes on intermittently. Everything works fine, so I assume it's probably just a sensor. The Hella lights on the bumper guard are not wired up. I put them on there just for looks. But I do have all the wiring and switches that came with them and I will include it all in case the buyer wants to wire them up. I put a new battery on it last year also, so it really needs nothing. It's an excellent, dependable vehicle that has served me well. I'm only selling it because I'm turning 40 next month, so apparently I've decided it's time for to get a mid-life crisis Mustang. Seriously though, it's a nice, good looking Blazer that should last someone a VERY long time. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about it. Thanks for looking!

Corvette Z06 and Viper TA square off at the strip

Wed, Jan 21 2015

There are many long-standing grudge matches among automobiles: 911 vs GT-R, Mustang vs Camaro, Ferrari vs Lamborghini... but as far as high-end American metal goes, it doesn't get much more legendary than Viper vs 'Vette. So after Chevy released the new Corvette Z06, we knew it was only a matter of time before it would have to square off against the Viper TA. And what better place to pit these two parallel pillars of American performance than on the drag strip? Fortunately that's just what we have here. In one corner, the 2014 Dodge Viper TA, with its 8.4-liter V10 pumping out 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. In the other, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the supercharger on its 6.2-liter V8 more than making up for the discrepancy in displacement and cylinder count to produce 650 hp and just as much torque. But numbers don't tell the whole story, so watch the video clip to see which reaches the end of the quarter-mile first. Ford Police Interceptors dominate Michigan State Police testing

Tue, Nov 1 2016

Once again, Ford Motor Company builds the fastest police vehicles. The Blue Oval touted the news in an official release following Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department testing. Ford did very well. Except for one acceleration metric – zero to 10 miles per hour – the Blue Oval's Taurus and Explorer-based cop cars were the quickest, with particular praise coming for the EcoBoost-powered models, which bested Chevrolet and Dodge's V8-powered variants. Dearborn's products also posted the fastest average times around MSP's vehicle dynamics course. But it wasn't all positive for Ford. The only four-cylinder in the contest, the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost Ford SSP Sedan, had both the lowest top speed, 120 mph, and the slowest acceleration figures. It was also the slowest in track testing. Ford's products also failed to match the braking and top speeds of its rivals from Detroit and Auburn Hills – the rear-drive Charger Pursuit posted the best braking stats of the entire test, while the V8-powered Chevrolet Caprice hit the highest top speed, at 155 mph. Ford did score a top speed award, among SUVs, but at 132 mph, the naturally aspirated Police Interceptor Utility had to share its award with the equally fast, rear-drive Chevrolet Tahoe. The LA County Sheriff's timing isn't publicly available, but according to Ford, the EcoBoost-powered police cars put on a similarly impressive show for cops on the West Coast. We've assembled a spreadsheet on Google Docs that offers an easy to browse comparison of the different stats assembled by the Michigan State Police, and divided the vehicles between standard V6-powered sedans, high-performance sedans (EcoBoost and V8 models), and SUVs. You can check it out here. Related Video:

Chevy Corvette is latest car breached by hackers

Wed, Aug 12 2015

UPDATE: This story has been updated with comment from General Motors. In the latest car-hacking exploit in a summer full of them, researchers from the University of California-San Diego say they've found a way to manipulate braking in a 2013 Chevrolet Corvette. The vulnerabilities may not be limited to that model. Cyber-security researchers breached the car's security systems via a device they had plugged into the Corvette's OBD-II port, and through that connection, they sent messages that could turn windshield wipers on and off and tamper with the brakes as the car drove at low speeds. It's the latest in a series of car hacks that involve access to critical systems obtained via the OBD-II port, where drivers can plug in devices that provide anything from diagnostic information for mechanics to driving information for insurance companies. Last November, cyber-security engineers from Argus Cyber Security remotely controlled vehicle functions in a car that had a OBD-II dongle called a Zubie installed. In January, researchers from Digital Bond Labs found security holes in an information-tracking dongle popular with more than 2 million Progressive Insurance customers. Those came before prominent hacks unveiled in recent weeks, in which researchers remotely commandeered control of a Jeep Cherokee and, separately, showcased problems with GM's OnStar infotainment system. Regarding the dongles that plug into the OBD-II ports, Stefan Savage, a Cal-San Diego professor involved in the research, tells WIRED that, "we acquired some of these things, reverse-engineered them, and along the way, found that they had a whole bunch of security deficiencies." Savage and others unveiled the latest study at the Usenix security conference Tuesday. In a video of their exploit entitled "Fast and Vulnerable," they show how they sent SMS messages from a smartphone to the dongle plugged into the car's OBD-II port. From there, their messages accessed the CAN bus, a network on the car that connects individual electronic control units, which control dozens of vehicle functions. As they send the commands to brake the car, the driver of the Corvette notes "the pedal doesn't react to any pressure." General Motors issued a written response Wednesday, warning drivers to be careful with third-party devices they plug into their OBD-II ports.
