1990 K5 BLAZER ---- One of the last solid front axle Chevy built ----
UP FOR BIDS IS MY PERSONALLY OWNED 1990 CHEVY K5 BLAZER. LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME, THIS TRUCK DOES NOT NEED ANY MAJOR CHANGES TO MAKE IT PERFECT. SINCE NEW IT HAS HAD ONE REPAINT. THERE WERE ONLY A FEW AREAS OF PIN HOLE ROT ON THE FRONT FENDERS, QUARTERS, AND ROCKER PANELS. I DESIDED RATHER THAN METAL PATCHING THESE AREAS, TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PANELS BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT ASTRONOMICALLY EXPENSIVE FOR THIS ERA TRUCK. WITH THAT BEING SAID, NEW FULL QUARTER PANELS, FENDERS, AND ROCKER PANELS WERE REPLACED. THE DOORS AND TAILGATE ARE ROT FREE. THE SAME WENT FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT FLOORS. WITH FEW AREAS HAVING PIN HOLES, I HAD NEW PANS WELDED IN. THE INTERIOR IS NICE. ALL ORIGINAL SEATS, SIDE PANELS, DOOR PANELS, CARPET AND DASH. THE DASH HAS TWO CRACKS IN THE NORMAL SPOTS WHERE THEY ALL CRACK. THE HEADLINER IS NEW. MECHANICALLY SOUND, THE (5.7) 350 EFI ENGINE HAS LESS THAN 8,000 MILES (CRATE ENGINE). THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AT THE SAME TIME OF ENGINE SWAP. THE AXLES HAVE THE FACTORY 3;73 GEARS. THE FRONT AXLE HAS ALL NEW BARRINGS AND UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. THE SUSPENSION IS BRAND NEW WITH A COMPLETE 6 INCH LIFT BY ROUGH COUNTRY SUSPENSION WHICH INCLUDES ALL FOUR ARCHED SPRINGS, NEW SHOCKS, U-BOLTS, HARDWARE, STREERING ARM, FRONT SWAY BAR DROP BRACKETS, BRAKE LINE RELOCATION KIT, A 2" TRANSFER CASE DROP KIT, AND NEW FRONT DRIVE SHAFT. WHEELS AND TIRES ARE NEW. EVERYONE HAS BLACK OR CHROME WHEELS, I DESIDED TO GO COLOR COAT TO THE TRUCK. NOT WAGON WHEELS BUT THEY ARE STEEL 15X10'S. THE TIRES ARE ALSO BRAND NEW WITH UNDER 400 MILES ON THEM. (THE KNOBS STILL HAVE THE NEW NUBS ON THEM). 36X12.5/15 SUPER SWAMPER TLS RADIALS THAT HUM NICE AND DRIVE SMOOTH EVEN AT SPEED OF 60MPH. (NOT CHEAP $$ TIRES). EVERYTHING ON THE TRUCK WORKS AS FAR AS POWER WINDOWS, POWER DOOR LOCKS, LIGHTS IN AND OUT, THE FACTORY GUAGES, WIPERS, HEAT, AND A/C. IT HAS TILT WHEEL, CRUISE, AND AFTER MARKET DETACHABLE FACE RADIO WITH CD PLAYER, AND NEW SPEAKERS. THE ORIGINAL SPARE IS MOUNTED INSIDE, WINDSHIELD IS NEW, CLASS 3 HITCH, NEW NERF STEP BARS, AND NEW HARDWARE IN THE TAILGATE AS WELL. THE CHROME ON THE TRUCK IS VERY RESPECTABLE, BUT NOT SHOW QUALITY. THE BUMPERS ARE THE ORIGINALS. THIS TRUCK IS A VERY FUN RIDE. I GET MANY COMPLIMENTS ON IT AT LOCAL CRUISE NIGHTS AS WELL AS ON THE ROAD. IT TURNS HEADS EVERY TIME. ITS NOT A SHOW PIECE, BUT AT THE SAME TIME NEVER BEEN MUDDED. I HAVE SET THE RESERVE AT A REASONABLE PRICE. YOU CANNOT BUILD THIS TRUCK FOR THE AMOUNT OF $$$CASH$$$ I HAVE INVESTED.MY LOSS WITH SOMEONES DEAL OF THE YEAR. SO, HOPING TO FIND A NEW HOME, HAPPY BIDDING!!! Before placing any bids, feel free to come and inspect the vehicle in person or have someone come to inspect it for you if you wish. This vehicle will be sold is as is , where is condition, because it is privately owned, and has no waranty. It is going on 25 years old. I require a Paypal deposit of $500.00 within 24 hours of the end of auction, with the balence due within 5 days from the end of the auction. The buyer will be 100% responsible for picking up the vehicle or making arrangements for the hire of a transporter. The vehicle will not be released unless paid in full. I except cash in person, or certified bank check that will have to clear before I release the vehicle. Paypal is golden, but please be respectful and add the percentage charge that goes with it as well. I reserve the right to end this auction early if the vehicle is sold locally.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015
Tue, Feb 11 2014Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.
This map reveals the cleanest vehicles based on location
Thu, Apr 28 2016Naysayers love to point out how dirty the electricity grid mix is when it comes to charging electric vehicles. Curmudgeons are eager to jump into any conversation about EVs to enlighten the lucky listeners about how plug-in cars contribute to pollution, sometimes even throwing in a dash of climate-change denial for good measure. (Thanks, buddy. Pray, tell me more about the plight of oppressed SUV owners.) Unless someone buys an EV just because they think they're cool (which, yeah, they often are), they probably have at least a passable understanding of their environmental pros and cons. As many EV owners are already aware, location has a lot to do with any particular plug-in car's carbon footprint. Still, there's always more to know, and knowledge is not a bad thing, especially if one uses it to do the right thing. That's why this handy-dandy map from Carnegie Mellon University is so interesting. CMU researchers have compiled information about the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of various EVs based on where they're charged, as compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. The researchers looked at the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, and Prius Plug-In Hybrid versus the gasoline-dependent Toyota Prius hybrid and the stop-start-equipped Mazda3 with i-ELOOP and compared grams of CO2 emitted per mile. CMU takes into account the grid mix, ambient temperature, and driving patterns. CMU takes into account the grid mix based on county, as well as ambient temperature and driving patterns in terms of miles traveled on the highway or in the city. For instance, if you drive a Nissan Leaf in urban areas of California, Texas, or Florida, your carbon footprint is lower than it would be if you were driving a standard Toyota Prius. However, if you charge your Leaf in the Midwest or the South, for the most part, you've got a larger carbon footprint than the Prius. If you live in the rural Midwest, you'd probably even be better off driving a Mazda3. Throughout the country, the Chevrolet Volt has a larger carbon footprint than the Toyota Prius, but a smaller one than the Mazda3 in a lot of urban counties in the US. The Prius and Prius Plug-In are relatively equal across the US. Having trouble keeping it straight? That's not surprising. The comparisons between plug-in and gasoline vehicles are much more nuanced than the loudest voices usually let on.
