1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Cheyenne. Original 2 wheel drive with removable top (never been removed). This is a solid Texas truck with very minimal rust in the lower rear wheel wells and firewall. Dry underneath. All floors are there and solid. Has a 350 with Edlebrock intake and 3 speed auto transmission. Air conditioning works and was refreshed last year. Strong running truck that I drive in the Florida heat everyday with no problems. All lights and signals work.
All the following was done within the past year: New harmonic balancer, new MSD distributor, new plugs & wires, new Interstate battery with 6 year warranty, rebuilt Quadrajet carb, complete front and rear brakes, rebuilt rear window motor, new rear window cable, new Flowmaster 40 series full exhaust with stainless pipes. Brand new Edlebrock valve covers and new gaskets just installed (7/24). Front end rebuild, including: new ball joints, bushings, and idler arm. New rear axle bearings and rear end grease. Lowered with DJM dropped spindles and springs with Belltech shocks. C notched rear has been professionally welded in place. The truck has brand new Hankook Optimo 235/75r15 white walls all the way around I have receipts and invoices for all the parts. And photos of all the work. I purchased this truck from an elderly gentleman who moved to Florida from Texas. The story was that he got it from a couple in Oklahoma where it was stored in a barn. They stored the truck in a barn after it was recovered from being stolen. Later, someone pulled out in front of him and the front passenger fender and the corner of the front bumper took the hit. I had an original 79 GM front fender hung and straightened out the core support. The fender has some lower rust, but we cut the old fender and saved it for the repair patch. Haven't gotten around to welding it on, and didn't figure we would be able to match the paint, so we left it for the time being. Replaced the front bumper, bumper support, grille, and both headlight bezels. I have extra emblems and a replacement gauge bezel. The temp and oil pressure gauges are not currently hooked up. But there's no issues that require them to be working. The only thing the truck will need is a pair of hood hinges. This truck gets a lot of attention and is very reliable. There aren't very many original 2 wheel drive Blazers left. And even less that are this solid. You can reach me at 813-666-9033 with any questions. I have the Florida title in hand, in my name. I reserve the right to end the auction early. And of course this is an AS-IS sale. No returns. Thank you. |

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.

Germany has lifted its ban on Uber. While the German court believes the ride-hailing service is operating illegally without proper licensing for drivers, it says Taxi Deutschland waited too long to file the case against Uber. The taxi association plans to appeal the decision soon. See more in the video below, and read more at The New York Times. A new report from UC Davis claims that a global expansion of public transit could save 1,700 megatons of carbon dioxide yearly and over $100 trillion by 2050. A "high-shift scenario" would be necessary, wherein governments invest in rail and clean buses, expand biking and walking infrastructure and shift focus away from projects that encourage car use. This shift to public transit would especially be important in the US, China and India. Read more in the press release below.
GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible
Wed, Aug 1 2018The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
