GM only assembled less than 1,800 Blazer Chalets in the two years of production. In 1976 and 1977, GM offered its own camper conversions, known as the Chevy Blazer Chalet, There are plenty of slide-in campers inserted into pickup beds, but this is a completely different animal. They started with the Chevrolet Blazer as a base, and came straight from your Chevy or GMC dealer with a pop-up camper installed. The trucks were all shipped to Chinook Mobilodge in Washington state. The camper slides in where the Blazer’s hard top would normally be. Unlike the Blazer’s top, though, the Chalet wasn’t designed to be removed. The Blazer came off the same production line as a regular truck, and the camper shell was installed by Chinook.

The Chalet offers many distinct advantages over the competition. The roof pops up so that adults can walk around at their full height. The Chalet is surprisingly roomy inside due to the headroom provided by the camper's extra height. The Chalet also features a propane cooktop, a small refrigerator, a sink and a closet, along with storage above the Blazer’s cab.The seating area in back includes two sideways bench seats with room for four.

In the middle of the living quarters, you have a table and seats for the daylight hours, and the whole magilla folds up and converts to a full-size bed at night.  It’s in fairly decent condition. The hood is showing some minor pimples of rust and a little on the passenger door. , but the more difficult rust areas like rear fenders, the floors and the rocker panels are in great shape. The paint is sun-faded, but you could probably have this thing looking super with a clay bar and a couple coats of wax. The truck is not mint, but it is as solid as you will find. It has spent its life out in the dry, Southern California weather and it shows. The body is dusty but not rusty. It is very complete and original and perfect for hauling your Harley.

If you’re looking for a toy to bang around the back roads and spend a night in the woods or go fishing or haul your bike somewhere, I couldn't imagine something cooler.

The reserve is fair considering the rarity of these and the amazing condition of the body. I am able to help out with shipping at the buyer's experience. I have a lot of experience with shipping at very good rates. The truck is being sold as is with no warranty, and it is located in Hermosa Beach in Los Angeles so you are welcome to check it out prior to bidding. It is listed locally for sale, so I could end the auction at anytime.

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.

Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout

Tue, Nov 25 2014

Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. How easy is it to rebuild a Chevy small block V8?

Sat, Mar 21 2015

Chevrolet's famous small block V8 stands as one of the workhorse engines in American auto history, with its variants going into vehicles from hot rods to pickup trucks. But do you know that you can fully disassemble and completely restore one of these mills in just under four minutes? Well, as long as there's some assistance from time-lapse photography, that is. Hagerty created this short clip showing a dirt-covered small block turning from a frog into a prince. Thankfully, the time-lapse doesn't speed the process up too much, and it's still easy to see how all of the principal parts fit together. With all sorts of sensors and software helping to drive the modern automobile, viewing the internal combustion engine in its purely mechanical form is still fascinating. Related Video:
