1968 Chevy Bel Air Wagon with a 327 4bbl auto. This is a project I decided I don't have time for, although it's an easy restore. She runs and drives, although I would recommend trailering to get it home. Odometer shows 77,000 miles and I was told by previous owner that it is original, but I can't guarantee that. Some things lead me to believe it is and others don't. This is a solid car that turns heads and gets comments even in its half restored condition. Actually quite rare if you search for ones for sale. So, following is a break down of condition:

Exterior: Good. Front clip shown in black is rust and dent free - OEM, ready for finishing.  Doors are solid - they have that wonderful feel and sound when you shut them - no rust or dents. Both rear wheel wells are rusted through, but not horribly so - see pictures. The area under the car behind the rear wheels is completely rusted through. Floorboards are solid - no rust.  Rear gate - just a little surface rust. Back window is not operational at this time, but I'm quite sure that's an easy fix.  As I have time, I may tinker with a few things and update the listing as I fix them. Rear bumper has a slight dimple in it.  All other trim/moulding/grille is good, except fender moulding missing on R side and short piece missing on L side fender. Windshield has about an 8" crack near the rear view mirror - doesn't go to any edge, it's just an 'island' crack - not in driver view. All other glass good.

Interior: Good. Seats have been reupholstered to original specs. Headliner is good. Dash is good. No cracks or warping. Carpet decent - has one hole on driver side about the size of a softball and another up underneath the dash out of view. Dash/instrument panel all good. Weather stripping around interior of doors is frayed. Steering wheel is good. Original radio is gone. The one in it is worthless. Door pillar moulding or cover on the L side is kinda coming off, but is fixable with what is there. Back seat is good. Not a 3rd seat model. Condition of carpet in cargo area is so-so.

Mechanical/Electrical: Engine runs strong. Has new starter.  Carb will need some work - you have to pump like heck to get her to start, but once running, it is smooth and doesn't need to be babied to keep going until warmed up. Needs an alignment. Transmission operates perfectly. Sometimes when you turn it off after running it makes a strange sound that I thought was coming from maybe the power steering pump or alternator, but a person I talked to who is more mechanically inclined than me said (without hearing it himself) that it could be the thrust bearing in the tranny.  Has a leak around the thermostat housing - one of those things I might get around to fixing while auction is going on. Brakes are spongy.  Tires are like new (front ones on there now are worn from alignment issue, but I have 2 good ones to throw to make 4 good ones). There is no jack.

That pretty much covers everything that I think is worth noting.  Of course, checking it out in person would be the best, if you can work that out.  Has clear Idaho title. Might be best to just call me at (509)291-3280, Buyer will be responsible for shipping or pick up.  $500.00 deposit due immediately upon close of auction

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

nuTonomy beats Uber to market with self-driving taxi rides, and the latest Corvette ZR1spy shots | Autoblog Minute

Software developer nuTonomy beats Uber to market with self-driving taxi rides in Singapore. A 124 Coupe could soon join Fiat's roadster lineup, and we have the latest spy shots of the new Corvette ZR!. Senior Editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Mintue. Senior Editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Mintue. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Massachusetts based software company, nuTonomy, launched its self-driving taxi service in Singapore this week. nuTonomy specializes in developing software for self-driving cars. Testing of the companies ride-hailing smartphone app occurred in Singapore, where riders were able to book a free driverless ride. nuTonomy's robo-taxi fleet is comprised of Renault Zoes and Mitsubishi i-MiEVs. Engineers from nuTonomy were present at this public launch as a safety measure. [00:00:30] The company will now continue to collect data and conduct more testing with its self-driving cars in Singapore, Michigan and the United Kingdom. nuTonomy has plans to offer widely-available commercial service in Singapore in 2018. nuTonomy's aggressive play in Singapore has put Uber and its partner Volvo in the unlikely position of playing catch-up. Autocar reported this week that we should expect FCA to add a Coupe [00:01:00] to it's 124 roadster lineup. When? Well, seeing as the 124 Spider just recently made it US dealers we may have to wait until next year to see a hardtop Fiata. It's tough to predict what kind of performance we can expect out of a 124 Coupe but in the U.S. the Spider has 160hp using a 1.4-l turbocharged engine. So the car you see in these pictures is actually Fiat's 124 Rally car that will be used for competition. [00:01:30] Now that's not exactly how the street car will look but it gives you an idea of what a 124 with a fixed roof is gonna look like. This week we got another look at what we think is the Chevy Corvette ZR1 and its massive rear wing. Now to be clear, the images that we're seeing are actually demonstrations. The car was actually captured without the rear wing. However, our spy photographers photoshopped the wing, which we've seen before, on some of these new shots just so you could get [00:02:00] a sense of what the car looks like driving around in it's most recent state. Now we think this car will make more than 700hp, which is kind of a magic number. The Hellcats from Chrysler make 707 so certainly GM wants to beat them.

Chevy Bolt interior spied for first time

Wed, Oct 7 2015

Chevrolet is continuing work on its Bolt EV, but thanks to some public-road testing in what looks to be somewhere in Michigan, we've captured our first look at the new hatchback's screen-intensive dash. Looking like a blend of the Chevy Sonic with the new Volt, the Bolt's interior follows a simple formula, offering a digital display in place of the traditional instrument cluster alongside a large, prominent display in the center stack. Nothing too shocking, except for the fact that both displays look larger than what's in the Volt. What's most surprising, though, is the shifter. It looks almost BMW-like in appearance. There's a dedicated park button accessible by the driver's thumb, and we're guessing a trigger on the front that can toggle the lever forward into reverse and backwards into drive. The central display, meanwhile, looks like it's running some very different looking software, compared to Chevy's usual MyLink fare. We can't be sure whether this is simply some development software that's free of polish and not intended for production, or a look at a new form of Chevy's connectivity suite. Aside from some different wheels, the exterior of this prototype looks unchanged from the last round of spy photos we captured of the new Bolt. Sorry kids, no new exterior styling to show you today. Still, we've included the entire crop of spy images, covering a variety of exterior angles along with several shots of the interior. Related Video:
