Up for auction is my '66 Belair 4dr with a strong running 283 V8. If you're looking for a car that's two tons of fun to drive or try the car show/cruise lifestyle, this is a perfect way to get in without dropping a bunch of cash. That's why I bought it and I had a blast! Now I'm ready to step up a level. The car never left me stranded. The body has filler and rust underneath (please see pics), but most of the mechanical items have been serviced or replaced (list is below). That's why I'm listing it as a driver, however I've recieved many compliments on it. You let go of the wheel and it goes straight down the road.

It has approx. 98,500 miles on the odometer (I'll update with actual miles tomorrow-haven't been in the garage in a couple weeks.) There are documents that show the engine was replaced at 86,280 miles with an engine that had 39,000 miles on it so real miles are around 51000-52000. Some interesting items included with the car are the original protecto plate, original owner's manual, 1966 Featured accessories book, and build sheet that was found under the rear seat. Decoding the VIN will tell you that it was built in Flint, MI as the 99,664th unit, it's a 4dr 6 pass. sedan with 119" wheelbase, 17 3/4' overall length, 78.6" wide with a 195HP 283V8 engine. Original Paint code is KK (Med. Turquoise/Artesian Turquoise). The current exterior is a flat version of that but interior paint is the original color and looks excellent.

Some of the items replaced/added just before I bought it a year ago include: Headlights, tail lights, tires, shocks, springs on all 4 corners, new gas tank/sending unit/and straps, front and rear brake lines, sway bar end links, water outlet/thermostat, fuel pump, filter, cleaned & rebuilt 2bbl carb, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, belts, hoses, clamps, K&N air cleaner, ceramic coated headers, custom dual exhaust  w/flowmaster mufflers, dip stick, repainted valve covers and new gaskets, one new brake drum and 2 wheel cylinders. Since I've had it, the front driver's side of the bench seat has had the panels replaced and new foam underneath. Pretty much all the stuff that goes bad when a car sits has been addressed.

The interior is in very nice shape and is unmolested in the dash area. The glass is also in very good condition. It has power steering and manual drum brakes. The doors shut solid and all the windows roll up and down. All the door locks work. The spare tire in the pic was horrible so currently there is a 15" Z28 wheel and BFG tire in its place as I was eventually going to put 15" wheels on it. If I've forgotten anything, please ask questions and I'll add to this if I have more info. I'll be away 3/1 to 3/3 so if you post a question then, please be patient. I'll probably be able to answer from the road. Please bid smart and for the right reasons. The car is so much fun to drive and reliable but it is what it is. It has bondo and rust but I've had it garaged since I bought it and if anything, there is less rust on it now as I've touched it up underneath every time it was on the lift for an oil change. Please look at the pictures, they tell more than I can write here.

There is a $500 non refundable deposit due within 72 hours of auction end. I hate to do it, but I've had time and money wasted tending to buyers in the past who have outbid other bidders and defaulted. Balance of payment and pickup is due within 2 weeks of auction end. Balance of payment due in cash. Deposit can be paypal or money order as long as I can recieve it within 72 hours. In the event of inclimate weather or special circumstance, alternate pickup may be negotiated but payment is still expected within 2 weeks. If you are local and would like to see the car in person, drop me a line but remember, I am not near the car on March 1-3. The reserve is set to a much lower figure than my total investment in the car so it will definitely be a good deal for whomever gets it! Thanks for taking the time to read my ad.

Do you guys like trucks?

Wed, Jan 17 2018

Do you guys like trucks? If the answer is yes, boy do we have the show for you! The 2018 North American International Auto Show is lousy with 'em. Yeah, we saw the new Ram 1500, Chevy Silverado and Ford Ranger, but that's just scratching the surface. There are big trucks, little trucks, clean trucks, dirty trucks, old trucks, new trucks, red trucks, blue trucks. It's like a Dr. Seuss book. Anyway, we made a little video for you truck nuts (see what I did there?). Check it out above, and if you're looking for more serious coverage of the Detroit Auto Show, we've got it, along with a ton of images and other videos from the show floor. Enjoy! Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

Sun, Feb 8 2015

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R named Road & Track Performance Car of the Year

Mon, Nov 9 2015

With a 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter V8 that roars to 8,250 rpm, it's really hard to consider the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R an underdog in any fight. However, the Shelby held the lowest as-tested price and was only middle of the pack in terms of power in Road & Track's 2016 Performance Car of the Year challenge. The 'Stang's numbers clearly didn't tell the whole story about the potent coupe because Ford's muscle car grabbed the title in this year's test. A model needs to be new or significantly updated to be eligible for the honor, and R&T found an impressive slate of eight candidates this year. The challengers included the Bentley Continental GT3-R, Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper ACR, Mercedes-AMG GT S, and Porsche Cayman GT4. The Ferrari 488 GTB was the most expensive of the bunch with an as-tested price of $347,942, which is five times more than the Shelby. Once the group was together, R&T hustled them over curving roads and on the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park. There was a lot to love about the Shelby, even in this impressive crew. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," editor-in-chief Larry Webster said in the announcement of the results. The GT350R joins some great company. Past winners include the Porsche 911 GT3 last year and the Corvette in 2013. For some fantastic photography and the complete appraisal of these performance machines check out R&T's website for the full story. Related Video: ROAD & TRACK NAMES THE FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT350R THE 2016 PERFORMANCE CAR OF THE YEAR New York, NY (November 9, 2015) – Road & Track today named the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R the 2016 Performance Car of the Year, beating out seven of the world's best new sports cars. The article appears in the December/January issue, on newsstands November 17, and on RoadandTrack.com. "With a flat-plane crank and Sport Cup 2 tires, the GT350R is a Mustang turned up to 11," said Larry Webster, editor-in-chief of Road & Track. "Not only does the car have soul and harness so much firepower with such ease, but the real achievement here is that it's so approachable. It's a car you can't help but love." The Mustang Shelby GT350R was the winner by a runaway vote.
