1962 Chevy Belair (REAL AWB), Built in The Chicago Area Around 1964. When I First Saw, And tried To Buy This Car 30 Years Ago, In 1983. It Dropped My Jaw, Altered Wheel Base, Mile High Stance, Big Ladder Bars. 5 Spoke American Wheels. Just Too Bad!  But The Owner Wouldn't Sell It. He Told Me, That He Had Been Expelled From NorthBrook il High School In 1978, For Pulling Wheel Stands With It, In The High School Parking Lot, And He Couldn't Sell It. At That Time, It Had A Dual Quad 327, 4-Speed, 4.56 Posi. I've Been Told By People, That Its The Old (LOVE POTION 09) Nikey Car. It Still Has The P-Case F 8 2 Date 4.56. (in great shape, have used it in my other 62).

The 409 Block Is A 656 Cast (1964-65) Totally Rebuilt, With 1962 690 H.P. Heads, K 25 61 Date Code, With Hardened Seats, Z-11 Cam, 881 Factory Dual Quad Aluminum Intake, (has been repaired) Matching AFB Carbs. 3361s & 3362s. (need rebuilt). Totally Awesome Big Tube Old Fenderwell Headers, With Round Flange Caps, And 4 Bolt Hole Caps ( real nice condition)  I Do Not Have A 409 Distributor For It. Rebuilt Muncie 4 Speed With The Hurst Shifter, From This Car. The AWB Still Has The Same American 5 Spoke Wheels, And Tires On That It Did, When I First Saw It 30 Years Ago. (they do leak down now). This Straight Axle Is From The King Speed Shop 409 Impala. The Dash, Seats, Door Panels Etc. Are Untouched, From Back In The Day. When I Finally Got To Buy The AWB It Needed Quite A Bit Of Work. I Had A New 1 Piece Front Floor Installed, The Rear Seat Portion Just Needs To Be Tinned. (that's what it had). It Doesn't Get A Trunk Floor. This Is The Way They Were Built. Most AWB's Didn't Have Trunk Floors. It Has New Quarters. (need finishing) I Have A New Alum Radiator For It, Rebuilt Water Pump, Starter, Rebuilt Drive Shaft, (from this car) Fly Wheel (needs resurfaced) Have Clutch, But Needs New One. The Windshield Is Just Sitting On The Car. (not installed) The Old Picture Of The Car Was Sent To Me, By A Really Nice Guy, When I Had It At 2013 Melt Down Drags At Byron IL, Who Recognized It From Years Ago. (along with a bunch of other people). And Sent Me This Old Picture Of It At The Woodstock il Car Show For Sale, 20 Some Years Ago. Thanks, Again, Tom. These Cars Were Not JEWELERY, When They Were Built, And Raced, Like You see Today. This Is How They Were Built. I Know That If A Guy Could Do The Work Himself, He Could Finish This Car For 5-6 Thousand Dollars, And Drive This 1 Of 1 AWB, The Way It Was Built. There Were 55 AWB Plymouths And Dodges, 1 Chevy. I Have All The Important Parts For This Car, Plus some Extra's. I Wish I Could Finish It, But Its Not In The Cards Right Now. This Car Has Haunted For 30 Years. And I Hope It She Goes To A Good Home, And Not Be Over Restored.  Thank You For Looking. $500.00 Deposit Paypal 48 Hrs. Will Help Load If shipping.

Junkyard Gem: 2003 Chevrolet Tracker

Wed, May 22 2024

When General Motors created the Geo brand to sell vehicles designed and — in some cases — built by Japanese partners, the first four models were introduced for the 1989 model year: the Metro (Suzuki Cultus), Prizm (Toyota Sprinter), Spectrum (Isuzu Gemini) and Tracker (Suzuki Sidekick). Geo got the axe in 1997, with the Metro, Prizm and Tracker becoming Chevrolets. Of those, the Tracker survived the longest, with U.S.-market sales continuing into 2004. Here's an example of a very late Tracker, found in a North Carolina car graveyard recently. The 1989-1997 first-generation Trackers were based on the Suzuki Sidekick, while the 1998-2004 Trackers had the Suzuki Vitaras (not to be confused with the much grander Grand Vitaras) as their siblings. Production of these trucks for the South American market (as the Chevrolet Vitara) continued in Ecuador all the way through 2014. The Tracker name has also gone onto some versions of the Chevrolet Trax around the world. This one is a base four-door hard top/rear-wheel-drive model, which had an MSRP of $17,330. That's about $29,789 in 2024 dollars. You'll find one in every car. You'll see. The engine is a Suzuki 2.0-liter straight-four rated at 127 horsepower and 134 pound-feet. A five-speed manual was base equipment, but very few American vehicle shoppers wanted three pedals by the middle 2000s. This truck has the Aisin four-speed automatic. We like it loud. It appears that someone associated with this truck graduated from Julius L. Chambers High School last year. In the United States, the Tracker was replaced by the Saturn Vue. If Tracker can handle (unspecified Middle Eastern country), it can survive the jungle back home. Siempre contigo.

Chevy Bolt will go into production in Michigan in 2016 [UPDATE]

Fri, Feb 6 2015

While nothing official has been announced, it appears that General Motors may actually put the all-electric Chevy Bolt into production next year. That's the rumor that Reuters is reporting, citing two sources at suppliers for the upcoming $30,000 EV (although that $30,000 number bears some scrutiny). This rumor does fit in with earlier comments that the Bolt would arrive on the market in 2017. If it gets built, the Bolt will share more than a similar-sounding name with the Chevy Volt: the EV will be put together in metro Detroit. Reuters says the 200-mile electric car (and an Opel version) will be made in "an underused small-car plant north of Detroit," which means the Orion Township plant. GM could make between 25,000 and 30,000 Bolts a year there, if what the suppliers are saying is true. We have asked GM for a statement on this story and will update it if we hear back. UPDATE: General Motors manager of electrification technology communications, Kevin Kelly, told AutoblogGreen that, "Bolt EV Concept is just that – a concept. We're currently evaluating the vehicle program, but do not have any production announcements to make at this time."

This map reveals the cleanest vehicles based on location

Thu, Apr 28 2016

Naysayers love to point out how dirty the electricity grid mix is when it comes to charging electric vehicles. Curmudgeons are eager to jump into any conversation about EVs to enlighten the lucky listeners about how plug-in cars contribute to pollution, sometimes even throwing in a dash of climate-change denial for good measure. (Thanks, buddy. Pray, tell me more about the plight of oppressed SUV owners.) Unless someone buys an EV just because they think they're cool (which, yeah, they often are), they probably have at least a passable understanding of their environmental pros and cons. As many EV owners are already aware, location has a lot to do with any particular plug-in car's carbon footprint. Still, there's always more to know, and knowledge is not a bad thing, especially if one uses it to do the right thing. That's why this handy-dandy map from Carnegie Mellon University is so interesting. CMU researchers have compiled information about the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions of various EVs based on where they're charged, as compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. The researchers looked at the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, and Prius Plug-In Hybrid versus the gasoline-dependent Toyota Prius hybrid and the stop-start-equipped Mazda3 with i-ELOOP and compared grams of CO2 emitted per mile. CMU takes into account the grid mix, ambient temperature, and driving patterns. CMU takes into account the grid mix based on county, as well as ambient temperature and driving patterns in terms of miles traveled on the highway or in the city. For instance, if you drive a Nissan Leaf in urban areas of California, Texas, or Florida, your carbon footprint is lower than it would be if you were driving a standard Toyota Prius. However, if you charge your Leaf in the Midwest or the South, for the most part, you've got a larger carbon footprint than the Prius. If you live in the rural Midwest, you'd probably even be better off driving a Mazda3. Throughout the country, the Chevrolet Volt has a larger carbon footprint than the Toyota Prius, but a smaller one than the Mazda3 in a lot of urban counties in the US. The Prius and Prius Plug-In are relatively equal across the US. Having trouble keeping it straight? That's not surprising. The comparisons between plug-in and gasoline vehicles are much more nuanced than the loudest voices usually let on.
