Here is my 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2 door hard top project.  It does have an original 57 283 V8 engine block that has been rebuilt to factory specifications.  The numbers on the block are 3731548.  The heads are power pack but not sure of the dates on them.  The engine came with the car and the man I bought it from a couple years ago said it was the original engine.  The intake is a 57 four barrel.  The numbers on it are 3731398.  Some of the web sites say the  numbers on the block are the same as the Fuel Injected 57 Corvette.  The body has ben patched with quarter patch panels on the passenger side.  It needs more work to be smooth.  The drivers side is pretty good.  The floors have been replaced.  The toe panels from the engine compartment show the patch and cutout area.  The trunk needs to be repaired.  The back glass area has rust through at the rubber area.  The front windshield lower corners have been cut and replaced with patch and fiberglassed where there was some rust.  The floor braces are good and original but the body mounts are dried and cracked.  The transmission was a 3 speed manual from the factory but I have replaced it with a 350 turbo automatic that also has been rebuilt.  No seats other than a four door rear seat and a four door front seat and a 1960 Chevy front split back seat. The hood is nice and so is the drivers front fender.  The passenger front fender has a crack at the bottom.  The doors are good and in primer.  There are many parts with this car and several duplicates as I have been buying parts for a couple years for this.  There are many stainless parts that are extras but the buyer can use them to sell or trade for what is needed.  There are about 6 window flippers, 6 rear side glasses and many extra side stainless.  The quarter fender scripts are nice.  There are duplicate headlight buckets.  There are 3 radiators that are not tested and probably need repair.  One is a 57 another is 55 with transmission cooler fittings.  There is a new in the box gas tank and new power brake master cylinder not installed.  New wheel cylinders and brake shoes not installed.  New windshield rubber not installed.  No glass other than some vents and rear side glass.  Does have a rear back window that is used.  This car is sold AS IS totally as a project.  To be paid for within 7 days.  Can be picked up within 30 days.  It has been in the garage for a couple years.  Needs restored.  Title is in my name.

Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept foreshadows an affordable, 200-mile EV future [w/videos]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Confirming numerous reports and rumors, Chevrolet introduced the Bolt EV Concept, "a vision" of a 200-mile EV with an entry price of around $30,000. Those lofty promises ride atop a funky crossover that made its global debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The orange five door features a spacious greenhouse, complemented by a glass roof and thin D-pillar. A narrow grille and slim LED headlights crown a high fascia that leaves little ahead of its front axle. It's a similar story in back, as General Motors' design boss Ed Welburn sought to limit overhangs and maintain the Bolt's small footprint. "Form and function have never meshed so well together," Welburn said. "No compromises were made when it came to aesthetics and the elements that contribute to the Bolt EV concept's range, resulting in a unique proportion that's sleek, efficient and obviously a Chevrolet." The cabin is not unlike current Chevrolet compacts, with the MyLink touchscreen and a detached instrument cluster dominating the sparse dash. Unlike cars like the Sonic, which features a similar design for its instrument cluster, A Volt-like display is found over the steering column. "The Bolt EV concept is a game-changing electric vehicle designed for attainability, not exclusivity," CEO Mary Barra said. "Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers." Take a look at both the official gallery of Bolt images, as well as our live shots. And then scroll on down for more comments from GM brass, in the official press release. Chevrolet Bolt EV Concept Signals Brand's EV Strategy Affordable, long-range concept builds on brand's electrification leadership 2015-01-12 DETROIT – Chevrolet today made a significant statement on its commitment to electrification with the introduction of the Bolt EV concept – a vision for an affordable, long-range all-electric vehicle designed to offer more than 200 miles of range starting around $30,000. "The Bolt EV concept is a game-changing electric vehicle designed for attainability, not exclusivity," said General Motors CEO Mary Barra. "Chevrolet believes electrification is a pillar of future transportation and needs to be affordable for a wider segment of customers." Leveraging the electrification prowess established by Volt and Spark EV, the Bolt EV concept is designed to offer long-range performance in all 50 states and many global markets.

Here are the best-selling cars and trucks from January 2015

Fri, Feb 6 2015

Every month, Autoblog slogs through all the sales figures reported by automakers that do business in the United States, and, after a little bit of sorting, we put it into an easy-to-read chart in an attempt to make it as easy as possible to follow the ins and outs of sales and shipments. But that only covers the brands themselves, not the individual models they sell. And we think you'd all be interested in knowing which vehicles beat their rivals in sales from month to month, so we've put together this handy gallery to keep you in the know. While the leader of the pack may not come as much of a surprise, the order that the top ten finishes in changes frequently – due to automaker deals, the price of gas, etc. – and we've included some statistics to help you see how their current performance stacks up to month's past. Corvette owner finds stolen car, but can't get it back [w/video]

Wed, Feb 25 2015

It's not too uncommon to hear about owners being reunited with their stolen cars decades after reporting them missing. The story of Terry Dietrich in Georgia starts that way with police finding her lost 1972 Chevrolet Corvette after over 40 years. However, this case takes a different turn because unless she wants to bid on it, Dietrich's likely not getting the 'Vette back. Just six months after purchasing it in 1972, Dietrich's blue Corvette was stolen in Georgia, and in 1975 the sports car found its way to a man in North Carolina. He kept the car right up until his death just a few months ago, and that's when restorer Gary Green bought the 'Vette from his widow, according to Yahoo Autos. Unfortunately, after acquiring the Corvette, Green found some major discrepancies. For one thing, the listed VIN pointed to a '69 convertible, and there was a different serial number on the frame. Green reported the problem to the local police, and they figured out it was the 'Vette Dietrich lost over four decades ago. Consequently, the cops impounded it. The issue now arises that while Dietrich is the victim of the theft, she isn't technically the car's last legal owner. After the Corvette was stolen, she reported the crime to her insurance company, and it paid on the claim, which essentially forfeited her ownership. To make matters slightly more confusing the company can't find the title on the 'Vette either, according to Yahoo Autos. That leaves the well preserved 'Vette sitting in a police impound lot. It will likely go to auction.
