1957 Chevrolet BelAir 4 Door SURVIVOR!! VIN shows this is a factory V8 model Bel Air. This is a project I am selling because of my inability to finish. It has taken a great deal of time to get it to this point. Everything is bone stock 1957 Bel Air except the following items have been changed: It is currently setup with a 1982 LM1 Chevrolet Small Block 350 with 4 bolt mains. Someone 'procured' the Offenhauser Hi-Rise intake and 750 Holley double pump carb while those parts were being stored. Heads have been ported. This can easily be seen with the intake now gone. Storage debris has landed in the lifter valley area and would need cleaning before going further. Engine has been setup in place utilizing the original 1957 stock Chevrolet twin point mounts at the front of the engine block. 4 Speed Transmission is all setup with mounts, bell housing, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate fully installed. Driveshaft is installed in car as well. Dual exhaust is under car but not hooked up to the engine. Master cylinder and power brake booster bolted to firewall. Heavy duty cross flow radiator installed but not yet fully mounted. Close, but not finished. EVERYTHING else is stock 1957 factory correct Chevrolet Bel Air. Dash is not chopped up, stock steering wheel with unbroken horn ring, stock instruments with 110,000 miles showing. Car has NEVER been repainted and sports the original Ivory White over Turquoise paint. There is rust through in several places throughout (see pictures) but certainly not requiring giant patch panels to replace with the possible exception of the passenger front fender back lower section. Car has NEVER HAD A MAJOR ACCIDENT. This car has had only ONE REGISTERED OWNER it's entire life and that was the woman that owned it until her death in 1988. Furthermore, this car has only resided in Oregon since new and we do NOT salt the roads in the winter here so you do not see as much rust and corrosion in the body and on the frame as you might in many other states that do salt the roads. Most rust you see is surface only. Missing grille, hood latch and rear trunk lock. Hood and deck lid will be held in place by bungee cord for safe shipping. Seats were rotted from sun damage and were tossed but I saved some of the parts from them and these remaining parts are in the car now (see pictures). Headliner is removed but all bow pieces are in car as well. Any trim you see missing on the outside of the car is sitting in the car (see pictures). Both the i.d. plate on the firewall and vin plate on driver's door post are present and neither has ever been tampered with. Car is sold with bill of sale only. Titles are available on line. That is buyer's responsibility after purchase. Car is sold as is, just the way it is presented within the 24 pictures provided. Nothing is being held back or glossed over. What you see is what you get. $500 down payment must be paid within 48 hours of close of sale. Balance must be paid within 7 days of close of sale. I will store for up to 30 days for free to assist with buyer arranging adequate shipping and will assist in any way I can with the actual loading of the vehicle for transport after sale.

GM plans to restart production in Mexico on May 20

Mon, May 18 2020

MEXICO CITY — General Motors is tentatively planning to restart operations at its auto assembly plant in the Mexican city of Silao on May 20, according to a message to workers seen by Reuters on Sunday, as the car industry prepares to exit the coronavirus lockdown. Separately, the president of GM's Mexican unit advised suppliers to prepare to resume operations. “We are now beginning a new phase given the Mexican governmentÂ’s official announcement earlier this week to consider the transportation manufacturing industry as essential for the countryÂ’s economy,” Francisco Garza, president ofGeneral Motors de Mexico, wrote in an email to suppliers dated on Friday that was viewed by Reuters. The reopening of the plant  in Silao would be a positive signal for the auto sector in North America, whose supply lines are highly interconnected between the United States, Mexico and Canada. The plant in the central state of Guanajuato has been idled for weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. Workers had previously been told to plan to return to their jobs on May 18. A GM spokeswoman said the company could not confirm when it would restart operations at any of its facilities in Mexico because it is awaiting more guidance from the government. The message to the plant's workers came after the government on Friday clarified when the industry could begin easing restrictions imposed because of the health emergency. On Wednesday, the government said automakers could start going back into production from May 18. It then withdrew that advice and suggested the new start date would be June 1. Finally it indicated the sector, which forms the backbone of Mexican manufacturing, could begin operating as soon as next week if companies had the required safety measures in place. U.S. officials and its auto industry have pressed Mexico's government to get its factories open again because American operations depend heavily on parts from south of the border. However, some politicians are wary of opening too fast. Mexico registered its first case of coronavirus weeks after the United States and Canada and the toll of daily infections and deaths in the country reached new peaks over the past few days. The Silao production facility, which makes highly profitable pickup trucks for GM, is one of the biggest automotive plants in Guanajuato, a major Mexican carmaking state. Related Video:

The 2021 F-150 elevates Ford's bed game

Fri, Jun 26 2020

The new 2021 Ford F-150 is ushering in a new era of pickup capability, but there's more to it than the introduction of the PowerBoost hybrid. While that new powertrain is certainly the truck's headlining element, the supporting electrical architecture enables a level of utility that hasn't been offered in past consumer half-tons. The true party trick is Ford's new "Pro Power Onboard" feature, which is essentially a built-in generator that provides juice for the 2021 F-150's rather robust in-bed power station. This system is available even on gasoline-engine models, but its utility is maximized with the electrified powertrain. ICE models equipped with the option max out at 2.0 kilowatts, while the PowerBoost hybrid can be had with either a 2.4- or a whopping 7.2-kilowatt inverter.  The idea here is that the F-150 can essentially stand in for a high-output portable generator. In a worksite example provided by Ford, a PowerBoost model with the 7.2-kW upgrade and a single tank of fuel could provide 32 hours of power for an 1,800-watt compound miter saw, a 1,000W circular saw, a 1,200W battery charger, a 1,200W hammer drill, and a 1,000W air compressor with hundreds of watts to spare for lighting and other accessories. But even without the Pro Power Onboard option, Ford's new bed setup enables more versatility than in previous models. The new Tailgate Work Surface option adds a flat work area with integrated rulers, recesses for pencils or small tools, and even a stand for a personal device.  Ford is neither the first to offer an auxiliary power outlet in a half-ton pickup bed, nor was Ford the first to introduce a more feature-rich tailgate. GMC's MultiPro tailgate was a major innovation on that front, and while it is geared mostly toward improving the cargo utility of the bed, it can also be customized with 12-volt power and even an accessory speaker system. The Ram 1500 is also offered with both a multi-function tailgate and AC power in the bed, though the latter option is limited to models with the RamBox cargo package.  As half-ton pickups approach levels of towing and hauling capability that begin to blur lines with heavy-duty offerings, it's clear that automakers are looking for ways to differentiate themselves without stepping on their own bigger trucks' toes. These new bed and tailgate innovations may yet be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to full-size pickup versatility. Related Video:

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting?
