DESCRIPTION
An icon in American automotive design known throughout the world! Considered the junior Cadillac to consumers, it possessed the classic 1950’s rear fins, plenty of trim to polish from front to back, and a very handsome look overall! Chevrolet called it “Sweet, Smooth, and Sassy!” in their advertising copy. Words that continue to ring true today, and a perfect embodiment of young mid-Fifties America!
We are delighted to offer this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible finished in desired Onyx Black over code correct Red & Silver interior and White convertible top! This nicely optioned example comes with all the desired original equipment including a 283ci V8 engine, Powerglide automatic transmission, and original 1957 rear end! Options include power convertible top, front & rear bumper guards, 14” wheels with full spinner wheel covers, brand new American Classic wide whitewall radial tires, tinted glass, rear fender skirts, rocker trim, door handle paint protectors, dual exhaust with resonators, electric wipers, front/rear seatbelts, newer AM/FM cassette radio with fender-mounted antenna, and so much more!
The exterior paint was beautifully refinished in high gloss Onyx Black in 2003 and continues to look very sharp with only a few areas showing indications of being driven & enjoyed! In addition, all four steel wheels were fitted with brand new radial tires in July accented perfectly by the original wheel covers with decorative spinners! Under the hood, you will see it nicely detailed with correct date-coded components including the F-code engine, Carter carburetor, and air cleaner assembly! The charging system is now operated using an alternator for better efficiency.
This Bel Air convertible runs down the road wonderfully! It starts effortlessly, no smoke from the engine, and shifts smooth as it heads down the road! It has received a new fuel sending unit and fuel lines; new brakes, brake lines, and brake hoses; resealed rear axle; and newer exhaust & Monroe shocks in 2003. We just added brand new radial tires this July. The body, chassis, and overall structure remain in outstanding condition and retain their original VIN plate and firewall cowl tag! The former owner of this Bel Air convertible was proud to call it his own for 37 years! It was always garaged and well looked after while being enjoyed each year. Today, the odometer shows only 68,785 miles which may remain actual, but not enough evidence was proved to support such a claim. It will be sold mileage exempt on the title.
