Enterprise, Oregon, United States
WE ARE SELLING THIS CAR IN IT'S CURRENT CONDITION WITH THE KNOWN DEFECTS DESCRIBE IN THE ABOVE SECTION. IT STARTS AND RUNS WELL, DRIVES NICE OUT ON THE ROAD BUT AS DESCRIBED IT HAS SOME ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE INTERIOR SEATS AND THE DOOR PANELS AND AROUND THE BACK SEAT HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION AND THESE COMPONENTS ARE ALL IN PERFECT SHAPE. THE REAR CARPET IS NICE BUT THE FRONT ONE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE HEADLINER IS NEW BUT WHOEVER INSTALLED THE GLASS DIDN'T GET IT SEALED AND BOTH WINDOWS NOW HAVE A STAINED NEW HEADLINER SURROUNDING THEM. I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF ALL OF THESE DEFECTS. A NEW GOLD ANODIZED GRILLE IS LAYING IN A BOX IN THE TRUCK OF THE CAR. THE TRUNK IS ALL NEW AND REDONE AND A NEW FUEL TANK IS ALSO INSTALLED. THE CAR HAS VINTAGE 14" CRESTLINE WHEELS THAT ARE PERIOD CORRECT FOR AN EARLY 1960'S HOT ROD. WHILE IT IS NOT PERFECT IT IS A NICE SOLID CAR AND IS ALREADY A DECENT DAILY DRIVER. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO A POWER ASSISTED DRUM BUT DISC BRAKES WOULD BE THE PREFERED BRAKES TO HAVE ON THIS QUICK RIDE. THE KICK PANELS UPFRONT ARE ALSO ITEMS THAT ARE THERE BUT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE NEW ONES INSTALLED. ALL THE LIGHTS WORK AND THE AFTER MARKET CASSETTE DECK OPERATES. ALL OF THE GLASS IS GOOD. THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS IT CURRENTLY IS A WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE. THE ENGINE HASN'T BEEN BROKE IN YET WITH ONLY 2,000 PLUS MILES ON IT BUT WE DID JUST CHANGE THE BREAK-IN OIL OUT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOLD US IT STILL HAD IN IT. WE WOULD LIKE TO SELL IT JUST THE WAY IT SITS AS IT IS A GOOD RUNNING CAR TO ENJOY RIGHT NOW BUT IT ALSO HAS GOOD BONES FOR A CONTINUING RESTORATION PROJECT. NO OTHER SURPRISES FOR A NEW OWNER TO DISCOVER AS WE HAVE GONE OVER THIS ONE AND SHOWN YOU ALL THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES THAT THIS CAR HAS. 2014 Chevrolet C7 Corvette wastes no time zooming into Jay Leno's Garage
Thu, 24 Jan 2013Where else would you expect the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to show up first? Although this time it isn't exactly in Jay Leno's Garage, Leno instead playing an away game at Brown's Classic Auto in Scottsdale, Arizona. Nor does Leno drive the car, instead taking an 11-minute walkaround of the new American sports car with General Motors design head Ed Welburn, the same man who recently brought by a string of classic Corvettes to the talk show host's California compound.
It is, admittedly, a love-fest for the American sports car now featuring 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, but one that also features admissions about previous Corvette seats like "they were kinda rough," and the explanation that labeling the coupe "Stingray" means not having to call it "the base Corvette." On top of that, Welburn also explains the proper application of the term "dashboard." You can watch it all in the video below.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut
Mon, 28 Jan 2013While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
