Fleetwood Brougham Sedan, 60 Series, 472 C.i. Engine, 4-bbl Rochester Carb. on 2040-cars
Chickamauga, Georgia, United States
You are viewing the king of luxury "barge cars" of the early 1970's. A 1973 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM. Nothing was longer or heavier - not Lincoln or Imperial of that era. The only car in standard production which was larger, was the Cadillac series 75 (which was the commerical chassis for ambulances, herses, and limousines.) If you owned a Fleetwood Brougham sedan, it was a status symbol in American culture before the downsizing and fuel crisis that soon followed.
The interior of the car is a must see. No cracks, sun-fading, rips, tears, dents, or stains. Car has been garage kept all of its life. The interior is crushed mustard velour with embroidery (...goovy). Carpeting is all original, thick, with no stains. The rear seat passengers have carpeted leg rests - a feature only found on the Fleetwoods. All electrics operate on the car - power windows, locks, and the driver's six-way power seat. The front seat is a split 60/40 design. All interior lights work including the reading lights on the "C Panel". What does not work is the dial clock in the dashboard, the original 8 track tape (radio works though) and the cruise control (which can be replaced/repaired). Original rubber (color correct) floor mats with the Cadillac crest come with the car. The black vinyl roof is all original and is superior! The exterior paint is the original factory Phoenix Gold Firemist (an extra charge option back then). The flanks of the car are good but the horizontal surfaces are faded and will need a repaint (main areas are the hood and trunk). The very hard-to-find plastic fender fillers (1973 was the first model year for these due to the Federal Government mandate of 5 mph bumpers, which this car has) are all there. Air conditioning was changed over from the R12 to the R34 in June of 2007. Blower is strong, but the air conditioning does not blow super cold air. The caddy built 472 engine is strong coupled to a massive Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission which does have a very slow leak. It is not enough to have the seal changed. Tires are in excellant condition (high-end Michelin steel belted radials) and are the correct whitewall width (thin) and size at P235/75/R15s. Underneath is excellant with NO RUST. Does not burn oil. No smoke from exhaust. I have owned this car since November of 2006 and I love it, but must sell it for room. I have had it garage kept with a custom made dust cover over it. I have replaced the power steering pump and upgraded the exhaust with new mufflers and tailpipes (dual exhaust). The original owner of this car had a Cadillac dealership install a "Rolls Royce grill front" on it in 1973. This piece of equipment is unique. The front has three Cadillac crests on it! The Fleetwood standard hood stand-up Cadillac wreathed crest, the Cadillac crest on the Rolls Royce grill, and an additional chromed front licence plate shield with the crest on it. Talk about over the top... anybody looking at this monster rolling up behind them on the highway will take notice! I have the original window sticker with all of the original factory installed options. Plus additional original brochures from 1973. Included with the sale of the car will be a nice hardback book about Cadillacs. What a great package of Cadillac nostalgia for the Cadillac enthusiest. The car will be sold with the brochures, hardback book, and the custom made dust cover. I am requesting only serious bidders for this car. If you are knowledgable about this era of American cars - this is an outstanding example for you to consider. The car does need to be restored to be able to say its a "10". - but....this would be an easy restoration job, with hardly any work to be done on the interior and some work on the exterior. No re-chroming needed. Come see this car and what AMERICAN ENGINEERING was all about. There was only 24,800 Fleetwoods made in 1973. Few are on the road today. This one is very driveable today and a head turner AS IS. __________________________________ Vehicle was valued at @ $8000.00 + one year ago. I have a buy it now price of $7800.00. Cadillac dealers get $5,000 incentive for ELR test drives
Tue, 13 May 2014The 530 Cadillac dealers - out of 940 total dealers - that signed on to sell the brand's ELR for $75,000 or lease it for $699 per month have managed to move 247 of them in the last five months. That's a little less than two cars for each dealer more than two dealers for each car if you need help with the math. With inventories of the luxury plug-in hybrid building up - Automotive News reports a 725-day supply - General Motors has created the Demonstrator Allowance Program to billow the sails on that slow moving ship, giving dealers $5,000 to promote ELR test drives.
A dealer with one ELR in its test fleet that racks up 750 test driven miles between May 1 and June 2 earns the fifty Benjamins, a dealer with two ELRs in the test fleet will get one hundred Benjamins. That will be added to summer incentives for dealers that pay $2,000 for units sold in July and $1,000 for units sold in August, while on the customer side, Cadillac has put "customer discount certificates" worth $3,000 on the hood for buyers and lessees.
Cadillac suggests this is about raising awareness of the ELR, but the question is how much dealers will be able to do for a car that observers - and buyers, apparently - still consider highly overpriced.
Lincoln Aviator vs Cadillac XT6 | How they compare on paper
Thu, Sep 5 2019There have been big, three-row family crossovers for quite a while now, but until recently the luxury market hasn't fully embraced them. Sure, you could literally get one with a third row, but unless you were a kid, chances are the term "dungeon-like" was going to be tossed around. Things are changing now, however, as new and redesigned entries are starting to hit the market. We've recently had a chance to get our first drives of the 2020 Lincoln Aviator and 2020 Cadillac XT6, two all-new three-row crossovers from American luxury brands. We also got a turn behind the wheel of the updated 2020 Volvo XC90. However, since none of our editors have yet to drive to drive them all, we wanted to see how they compare on paper, examining their engine specs and interior dimensions. We also included the 2020 Acura MDX, the original three-row luxury crossover, which continues to sell well despite approaching the end of its current generation. That it offers a hybrid model makes it that much more applicable given the Aviator and XC90 also offer gasoline-electric powertrains, albeit of the plug-in variety. 3 Row Luxury Crossovers Powertrains View 1 Photos Non-hybrid MDX has a 5,000-pound max tow rating. How do their performance and fuel economy compare? This one is absolutely no contest. The 400-horsepower Lincoln blows away its competitors despite having a price tag that's similar to the 310-horsepower Cadillac and in between the XC90's T5 and T6 models. At least the Acura is considerably cheaper. Besides the eye-popping output, the estimated 0-60-mph time of 5.5 seconds (gleaned from the mechanically similar Ford Explorer ST) is appreciably quicker than the others. Now, fuel economy is a bit lower, but the efficiency of Volvo's four-cylinder engines are likely more susceptible to varying due to driver differences. It should also be noted that the Cadillac gets the same combined fuel economy estimate as the Aviator despite having 90 fewer horses and 144 fewer pound-feet of torque. Just one of the ways where the XT6's prospects dim in the presence of its cross-Michigan rival. The Cadillac is also not available as a hybrid model. The others are, but are disparate. The Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring and Volvo XC90 T8 are similar in concept: range-topping models that are as much about adding performance as they are fuel economy. Their hefty price tags certainly reflect that as well.
Cadillac's XT6 is not, for better or worse, a mini Escalade
Mon, Jan 21 2019In its latest attempt at reinvention, Cadillac has created a trio of admirable sedans — the ATS, CTS, and CT6 — cars that challenge or beat the competition on their own terms, and do so with audacious exterior styling rendered in a distinctly American idiom. But American customers have been ditching cars in favor of high-riding crossovers, and what Cadillac has not had up until recently is a suite of appropriately (or bizarrely) sized crossovers to offer potential consumers, something competitors have been deploying for years or even decades. And so the new, full-size(ish) three-row Cadillac XT6, unveiled officially last week at an event in Detroit, is intended to help address the premier domestic automotive luxury brand's current product shortcomings. "I guess we had so many priorities and had to decide what's the most important thing," says Andrew Smith, Cadillac's executive director of design. "We decided to approach this one from an interior perspective, to do things like provide ease of use for owners, upgrade the infotainment, and allow time for ourselves to learn lessons from the launch of XT4." The XT6 doesn't exactly break any new ground within the segment, but that's not necessarily a criticism. Though huge from a sales perspective, the two-box crossover category is not the industry's leader in beauty or innovation. Still, Caddy's most recent previous crossover, the size-Small XT4, managed to create handsome proportions and a premium appearance at first glance. The XT6 doesn't feel quite so ambitious or coherent, with a front end that is at once sneering and soft, a lengthy flank that feints at muscularity without delivering, and a rather abrupt tailgate that blends the rectilinear and the anodyne. Maybe consumers won't notice? "Our biggest challenge was giving the vehicle a character that works on this scale and platform," says Smith. "We want to make sure all of our cars feel different. We didn't want it to be a mini Escalade. No one wants a mini anything. But we wanted to give it Escalade presence, but in scale. So it's this combination of nice, and aggressive. I'm convinced we will sell more than we think we'll sell." Maybe he's right, and we definitely don't see this vehicle cannibalizing sales of the Escalade. People who want a bold Cadillac can still get that one, and will have a brand new option later this year, we expect, when a new Escalade is released.
