1955 Cadillac Fleetwood, 40,000 original miles

This car is one of the finest original cars I have seen in my 40 years in the hobby. It has a true 40,270 miles from new. The body still wears the original factory black paint that still looks wonderful owing to its having been garage kept all its life. It has the rare factory air conditioning that works as it should. The attractive chrome vents in the headliner direct the air as it moves from the AC unit in the trunk up through clear plastic vent tubes to be blown gently on the passengers. It has power windows and power seat for the expected luxury conveniences and they work as new. It has the wonderbar radio and of course power steering and power brakes as you would expect from the top of the line luxury sedan from Cadillac.

The 331 cubic inch V8 engine starts instantly and purrs as it runs. It is smooth at all speeds. The automatic transmission shifts perfectly and it steers and brakes as it should. There is a newer dual exhaust system. It is a great driving car.

The interior of Cadillacs of this era have always been known for their opulence. The factory brochures had pages of fabric choices for the discerning customer to make their custom orders to suit their personal taste. The interior of this car is excellent. The dash is perfect with all the chrome in excellent condition and the dash pad is blemish free. The headliner is perfect as are all the gray cloth door panels. There is slight wear on the drivers side armrest. The carpets are original and are in great condition but are a little faded from their original gray.  The seats are in excellent condition but appear to have seatcovers over the original upholstery that may have been installed when nearly new. The original upholstery may be intact under these attractive and correct looking covers. One interesting thing is that there were only two seatbelts originally installed, one for the driver and one for the right rear seat. This was likely a chauffeur driven car.

The body is straight and damage free. I can find no evidence of any repairs or repaint. There are a couple of spots that have been dabbed with a brush and a few small door dings but overall the paint is excellent for having lived almost 60 years. It is way too nice to think about a repaint. All chrome is very nice original. This is a California car since new and there is no rust anywhere. It has been kept in a garage since new and I believe it has had only 3 owners from new. It was kept at a ranch estate here in Ventura county from new. It has been driven sparingly to keep the mileage low but has been exercised to keep everything working.

Overall this is a wonderful original car that would suit any collection or Cadillac enthusiast. Feel free to call if you need more photos of specific areas.

I have this car advertised elsewhere and reserve the right to remove it from ebay. As is. No warranty is expressed or implied. Thank you for your interest.

Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Cadillac goes white-out on social media as prelude to Oscars announcement [w/video]

Fri, Feb 13 2015

Cadillac appears to be in a very odd place at the moment. On one hand, Johan De Nysschen is pushing the company towards a much more luxurious image that includes converting 700 dealers into boutiques, and a blitz of new products is also supposed to be on the way in the coming years. However, at the moment sales aren't necessarily keeping pace with production, and there are reportedly heavy incentives available on some models. Now, we're seeing the earliest hint at the next strike in the brand's strategy as its social media presence goes white across the web. Go check out Cadillac's official pages on the major social media hubs, and all you can find is blank space. There's just a period on Twitter, a blank box on Facebook, another one on Instagram and the company logo is even gone from Pinterest. Perhaps most bizarre is YouTube, where Caddy is showing five minutes of absolutely nothing (embedded below) with no sound at all. The video description is only a period. All of this nothingness is supposed to be a lead-up to Cadillac unveiling a completely new advertising campaign during the Oscars on February 22. This method of blanking everything out beforehand could suggest a minimal, to-the-point message in the future. While it wouldn't be shocking for a few teasers to come out in the meantime, Caddy is keeping quite a secret before the big reveal.

Cadillac planning its own engines, halo cars

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Cadillac is in the midst of some big changes. It's got a new chief executive. It's taking some distance from parent company General Motors and moving to a new headquarters in New York. And it's instituting a new naming scheme that will allow not only for a more clear progression in its lineup, but also for more models. But that's not the end of the story. Not by a long shot.
Speaking with Automobile magazine, Cadillac's new president Johan de Nysschen revealed his intention to develop several new models and powertrains. For starters, he does not want Cadillac to continue borrowing engines from the GM parts bin, but intends to develop a new range of engines specifically for the luxury automaker. The program will likely start with smaller-capacity engines but eventually lead to new V8s as well, taking the place of the long-serving Northstar engine that finally ended its lifespan a few years ago after some two decades of production. Along with other technologies, de Nysschen envisions possibly sharing these powertrains with other GM divisions, but developing them first and foremost for Cadillac.
The bigger question, however, is where those engines would go, and de Nysschen had some thoughts to share on that front as well. For starters, the former Infiniti and Audi exec sees room for an even bigger sedan above the upcoming new CT6 that will cap the current range. Maybe even two of them. But that's not all. Johan wants to see Cadillac get (back) into the sports car game with a new halo model or two - something it hasn't really done since the Corvette-based XLR roadster. A pair of new crossovers are also said to be in the works, flanking the SRX on both sides with smaller and larger models.
