1976 ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE Beautiful Firemist Green with white top. Only 59,000 miles.Very good condition and all original except for a new top, new tires, new door interior upholstery and new OEM carpets which have all been replaced within last two years. Has had a brand new A/C compressor installed and full air conditioning service done in the past month. The power top operates properly as do all four passenger windows. Even the clock still works! This car has its original paint which appears to be in good condition and the non-fuel injected 500 cu inch engine which runs exceptionally well and shifts smoothly. The car drives very well with no hesitation or steering issues. There are no oil drips under the engine and no blue exhaust smoke. The body is straight and there are virtually no dings or dents. The chrome appears to be in excellent condition. The flexible fender fillers appear to have been replaced at some time in the past, but are in very good condition. This car has virtually all the convenience options Cadillac offered in 1976 including the usual P/S, P/B, P/W, tilt and telescoping wheel, cruise control, power antenna, white leather 6-way seats, power door locks, cornering lights, remote control mirrors, AM-FM 8-track tape unit, remote trunk release, power pull-down trunk lid, glass rear window with electric defogger and even the optional trumpet horns. All options work except Cruise Control, but all parts are intact. There is a small (1/4") wear spot on the piping on the driver's side of the front center arm rest and the beginnings of two cracks in the front passengers seat. The original 8-track tape unit was replaced with a cassette tape player a few years ago, but the original 8-track unit as well as a large box of 70's and 80's tapes are included. Also included are the 1976 Cadillac Shop Manual, the corresponding Fisher Body manual plus all original documentation including the Owner's Manual and the original window sticker. This car has been garage-kept for the past 37 years and has been driven only short distances about once a month to keep the seals lubricated. I believe this car is a solid #3 or better condition with an excellent potential to be either fully restored or used as a daily driver. More pictures available. |

Junkyard Gem: 1998 Cadillac Catera
Wed, Dec 14 2016A decade or so after Ford tried to swipe some US-market sales from European luxury marques by selling the German-built Ford Scorpio with Merkur badging, General Motors opted to sell the German-built Opel Omega luxury sedan as a Cadillac. The Catera was a reasonably nimble rear-wheel-drive sedan with a 200-horse DOHC V6 engine, and its badge-engineered nature made it a much less costly gamble than, say, the Cadillac Allante, which had its bodies built in Italy and flown to Michigan for assembly. Unfortunately, it had no manual transmission option, and Americans who remembered the miserable US-market Opels of the 1970s were put off by the Catera's Opelness. Its $29,995 list price was quite a bit cheaper than that of the (slightly less powerful) $39,800 BMW 528i and a bit less than the (slightly more powerful) $33,585 Acura 3.2 TL's cost, but the Catera didn't sell in large numbers. This one made it to a respectable mileage figure, and the nice interior shows that it was well-cared-for during its 18 years on the road. The ads for the Catera featured a cartoon duck named Ziggy. Fast, fun, fiendishly flexible! By 2000, Cadillac had ditched the duck and was touting the Catera's value. Related Video:
2020 Cadillac XT5 spied undisguised with infotainment from CT5
Thu, May 16 2019The reveal of the 2020 Cadillac XT5 crossover must be seriously near, because one of our spy photographers caught the new one completely undisguised. Seriously, there aren't any vinyl coverings anywhere, and the interior was completely bare, too. The update is minimal for the most part, but the interior reveals a big infotainment change. Before we get inside, we'll do a quick overview of the exterior. The front grille has a new mesh insert, and the lower air dam has a wider, thinner metallic accent. At the back, the colors for the faux skid plate or diffuser motif have been swapped. And that's it for the exterior. See? Told you it would be quick. The interior is nearly unchanged, too, except for the aforementioned infotainment system. Instead of the current model's touchscreen-only interface, the new XT5 adopts the control knob featured in the XT4, XT6 and CT5. It fits quite naturally behind the electronic shift lever. If it's like the system in other Cadillacs, fans of the touchscreen shouldn't worry, because you'll still be able to use the touch functions if you wish. Odds are we're months away from the new XT5 hitting dealers, since this is clearly a finished prototype. It will most certainly offer the same 3.6-liter, 310-horsepower V6 and 8-speed automatic of the current model. It's possible Cadillac will introduce a slightly more affordable 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 as an option, possibly even a turbo inline-4 hybrid powertrain, since both powertrains are available on the current Chinese-market XT5.
2018 Lincoln Navigator vs luxury SUV rivals: How it compares on paper
Wed, Nov 8 2017The all-new 2018 Lincoln Navigator is an impressive, luxury-lined beast. However, while its Black Label interior stood out most during our first drive of the new Navigator, it also seemed pretty clear that much of this full-size SUV was superior to the competition in a number of fundamental ways. Its Raptor-sourced 3.5-liter V6 had class-leading power for one, and its third-row seat seemed as spacious and comfortable as its rivals' are cramped and barely usable. To search for your next new vehicle, try Autoblog' s Car Finder. Yet, I wanted to take a closer look at how the Navigator fully compares on paper to its competitors - especially the Cadillac Escalade with which it most directly competes. The below spreadsheet should tell the whole story, but as you can see, there's an awful lot of class-leading green highlighter in the Navigator's column. The cargo volume and third-row legroom numbers are particularly telling, with the latter actually going up to 42.3 inches when you slide the second-row fully forward. Now, a few things to note about the above spreadsheet. The GLS-Class is also available as the GLS 550, which boasts a 4.7-liter V8 that just comes up short to the Navigator with 449 horsepower but has to deal with only 5,578 pounds. Its $94,950 price tag is comparable to the Navigator Black Label. Much of the LX 570's information is also applicable to the Toyota Land Cruiser, which, badge aside, could certainly be considered a member of this segment given its feature content and still-hefty price tag. It has better ground clearance and approach/departure angles than its Lexus sibling, along with an as-indicated lower price. Much of the Escalade's information also applies to the GMC Yukon Denali, while the Infiniti QX80 is applicable to the Nissan Armada.
