1983 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe, rare Sonora Saddle Firemist paint with Saddle leather interior.

2 owner car that has  62,333 original miles.Very original survivor car with most of it's original parts including the engine and trans, all glass is factory.Original carpet and headliner.Comes with a rare ASC factory sunroof. Body and paint are good but car does have some chips and minor rust at the back window and front fenders near side markers. All Lower panels are rust free .Chrome trim, mirrors  and bumpers are weathered. Nice replacement chrome is relatively cheap for these cars. Bumper fillers are all shot with the exception of the front 2 that are on top of the bumper. Reproductions are available for around $375 for the entire car. This would be a great candidate for a easy restoration. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESTORE A 79-85 ELDORADO THIS IS THE MODEL TO DO.

Car drives very nice and tight. Engine starts right up runs great. Transmission shifts smoothly. Only 4294 Eldorado Touring Coupes were made from 1982-85.1193 were made in 1983.There were over 479,000 Eldorado's made from 1979-85 so the touring coupe is pretty rare. Everything found on a touring coupe is here. including original bucket seats and console.Very hard to find ribbed lower rocker panels, special aluminum wheels and center caps. Also bumper mouldings are all black instead of black with white center., wheel well mouldings ,headlight bezels and tailight bezels were painted body color insted of chrome and stainless steel.Very rare in the Gold Firemist paint.  Build sheet and fender tag shown in pictures.Car has new tires and exhaust from the catalytic converters back. Please ask any questions prior to bidding, and I encourage you to see the car in person. Car sold as is,no refunds. Winning bidder pays $500 non refundable deposit within 2 days of auction ending.

I found this one the web:In 1982, Cadillac released a surprising new model of the Eldorado aimed towards the enthusiast..it was known as the Touring Coupe. The 1982 TC was available only in Teutonic Silver and Black that year and was distinctly different from the other Eldorados. Firstly, there was no hood ornnament but a cloisonne medallion in its place. No vinyl roof was available.either were whitewalls, and most of the brightwork was body colored or blacked out. Ribbed rocker mouldings replace aluminum trim found on the other Eldos and the standard steel rim and hubcap were replaced by aluminum wheels with centers caps. The interior of the TC offers sandalwood colored leather bucket seats featuring lumbar and lateral support with a center console instead of split bench seating.

The real difference lies under the body- touring suspension featured larger stabilizer bars front and rear (32mm & 26mm), 20% stiffer front torsion bars, rear coil springs that were 15% firmer, entirely different shocks up front, and recalibrated air lift shocks in the rear. The suspension grommets were of 70 durometer rubber over the 60 dm on the standard Eldo. The steering system offered more feedback while keeping a 14:1 ratio and the tires were upgraded to P225/70R15 for increased handling. This TC package listed for an extra $1950 on top of the $18000 list price.

Jay Leno welcomes a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V into the garage

Tue, Nov 17 2015

After checking out a multitude of classic cars and customs over the past few weeks, Jay Leno switches things up with a modern performance machine in the latest video from the garage – a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V. Leno is curious about Caddy's attempt to challenge the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S, and he takes a long, technical look at the sedan with chief engineer David Leone. Not content to just peek under the hood, Leno puts the CTS-V up on the rack to see what it packs underneath the svelte body. Once he gets the lowdown on the Caddy's engineering, it's time for a drive. Leno also flexes his interviewing skills while behind the wheel and gets even more info about the CTS-V's capabilities from Leone. He seems fairly impressed, but Leno's most entertaining question about the 640-horsepower sedan is whether it can do a burnout. He provides a definitive answer to that at the end of the clip. Junkyard Gem: 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

Sat, Jun 27 2020

Convertibles rode high well in 1960s America, with Detroit selling more than 500,000 ragtops in 1965, but sales collapsed by the early 1970s and tightening federal crash-safety regulations made it seem less worthwhile to even bother producing new ones. Chrysler halted convertible production after 1971, with Ford following suit by 1973. By the 1976 model year, the Cadillac Eldorado was the last new American car you could buy with a convertible top from the factory, and it appeared that none would ever be built again. I've found one of those "last convertible" Eldorados in rough-but-identifiable condition in a Denver junkyard. As it turned out, the convertible never really died in America. Car shoppers could still buy new European-made convertibles after 1976, coachbuilders modified new Detroit cars with factory-grade drop-tops, and then Chrysler began selling K-Car convertibles starting with the 1982 model year. Because the '76 Eldorado appeared to be the absolute end of the convertible line, however, buyers thought they were investing in a sure-fire collector car that would be worth vast sums in the not-very-distant future (this belief led to lawsuits against GM later on, when the Cadillac Division resumed production of the Eldorado convertible for 1984). While a one-of-200-made Bicentennial Edition Eldorado with red-white-and-blue trim really is worth plenty these days, an ordinary 1976 Eldorado in beat-up condition doesn't seem worth restoring. This car appears to have sat outside in Colorado with the top down for decades, filling with snow each winter and enduring high-elevation solar irradiation each summer. A 1960s GTO or Camaro might be worth fixing up after falling into this state of disrepair, but not one of 14,000 "last convertible" Eldorados made in 1976. GM's Unified Powerplant Package front-wheel-drive system, which used battleship-strength chains to transmit power to the drive wheels, proved to be extremely reliable on the street, joining the small-block Chevrolet engine and Hydra-Matic transmission in the pantheon of The General's Greatest Engineering Hits. Even gigantic motorhomes used this system. In 1976, the Eldorado got the last of the 500-cubic-inch (8.2 liter, or litre as GM's marketers spelled it) V8s, rated at a disappointing 190 horsepower and an impressive 360 lb-ft of torque.

GM moving international sales HQ to Singapore from Shanghai

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

General Motors has announced that it will be moving its international headquarters from Shanghai to Singapore, a move that will see 120 employees working from the city-state by the time business opens in 2014. Meanwhile, 250 to 300 of the employees at the Shanghai office will remain in China, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
The shuffle is part of a bigger reorganization that will see GM isolate its operations in the People's Republic from its broader international efforts. This sort of divide-and-conquer strategy will allow GM to still react to emerging markets while, according to the WSJ, providing a dedicated management team for the Chinese market. The team in Singapore will be responsible for operations in Africa, southeast Asia, Australia, India, South Korea and the Middle East, on top of managing Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe, according to a statement from GM.
The shift to Singapore "will help us to create a renewed identity for CIO (Consolidated International Operations) and lead GM's umbrella strategy for the region," said GM Executive Vice President of CIO, Stefan Jacoby.
