1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz - Triple Yellow - Beautiful! on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
This is a head-turning example of a 1978 Eldorado Biarritz, the last of a breed. I bought this vehicle about 4 years ago after searching high and low for a triple yellow Biarritz. It had about 42K miles on it when I purchased it, now has 54K miles. This is a fantastic riding and driving car, very original with just maintenance items as would typically be needed for a car that is 36 years old. The paint is new and is a high-quality respray that came in at a cost of over $8,000 total. The fender extensions were replaced at the time of the repaint. The pin striping was replicated in the original color and pattern and is hand-painted instead of tape and looks very nice.
The interior is in very good condition as well with very little wear. All power accessories work, including the clock, cruise, auto-dimming headlights, etc. The only thing I am aware of that doesn't work are the power seatback releases, which do not appear to have the wires attached. So, the seats just have to be released with the button on the seatback. The leather, carpets, headliner, etc look very nice as well, and the am/fm/8-track/CB radio works as well. Air conditioning blows cold and the heater is hot and it is all automatic climate control, of course. The 425 Cadillac engine starts every time and runs very smoothly with no issues. The transmission and rest of the drivetrain, brakes, etc all function as you would expect in a top of the line Cadillac. The auto-leveling rear suspension has no issues and keeps the rear end level regardless of the load in the trunk. I have taken this car on several road trips and wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere tomorrow. $500 PayPal deposit due at auction close, remainder is payable by certified funds. Funds must clear my bank before car will be released. Car is located in Dallas, Texas. Pickup or delivery arrangements are the buyer's responsibility. See the photos posted (including the one showing 1 small paint chip at the trailing edge of the hood) and let me know if you would like a picture of anything in particular and I will forward to you as soon as I can. On Mar-20-14 at 05:38:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Since this car is also for sale locally, auction may be ended early. Local buyers are welcome to come see the car in person. 2019 Cadillac ATS-V, CTS-V get cool color, weird name
Thu, Oct 25 2018A lot of special-edition cars are really not all that special. They consist of some special paint combo, and maybe a couple of optional features made standard. The Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V Pedestal Editions are actually pretty much that. But they make up for the mild content list with a really nifty color, great exclusivity and also a weird name. They also help celebrate the ATS-V and CTS-V before they disappear from the line. First let's take a look at the color. It's a shade called Bronze Sand Metallic. It's an earthy, dark brown with a yellow-green tinge to it. We suspect it probably looks more impressive in sunlight, and it's unlike most browns we've ever seen. It's sure to garner attention in any parking lot stuffed with black, silver and white luxury cars. It's matched with sand-colored ultrasuede inserts and bronze-threaded carbon fiber trim on the interior that look sumptuous. Each also comes with carbon fiber exterior trim, red brake calipers, and the CTS-V adds the performance data recorder and Luxury Package. The name really is strange, though. Cadillac says, "The special-edition variants are named in tribute to Cadillac V-Series' time spent at the pinnacle of luxury high-performance." So it seems the thinking was that these cars are up on a pedestal compared with other performance luxury cars. But even in that sentence from Cadillac, there's a word that would be better and more recognizable for excellence: pinnacle. We can think of other great words for marking the peak or the top of performance and luxury, words such as "apex" or "climax." Well, maybe not that one. One of the big appeals of these cars is that there won't be many of them. There will only be 300 built, and that's the total between the ATS-V coupe and CTS-V sedan. The final total for each model will be determined by orders. Ordering opens up on the first week of November, with production coming at the end of that month. The cars will only be available to buyers in the U.S., Canada and the Middle East. There are significant price differences between the two cars. The ATS-V coupe starts at $77,090, while the CTS-V starts at $102,590. That puts the ATS-V at roughly $10,000 more than a base model, and the CTS-V at roughly $12,000 more than its base model. SRX-replacing Cadillac XT5 spied for the very first time
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Cadillac has got big plans in place to revitalize its lineup, with new sedans, coupes and crossovers. And it all starts with this, the replacement for the SRX.
Expected to be called XT5 in line with the brand's new naming scheme, the crossover will be based on a scalable new platform called C1XX - or Chi, for short. In its shorter form, Chi is anticipated to underpin the XT5 as well as a new Chevy crossover and the next-gen GMC Acadia. In long-wheelbase form, the platform is slated to give us a larger Cadillac crossover as well as a new Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse.
Power in the XT5 will be provided by a choice of turbo four or atmospheric six, potentially to be transmitted through GM's new nine-speed automatic.
GM recalling 54k Cadillac SRX, HD pickup models
Thu, 01 May 2014There are more recalls to report General Motors, but these latest actions pertain to newer examples of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. With so much scrutiny on the company's recall strategy, GM is under increasing pressure to call in defective models more quickly, and it appears to be doing so here.
Here in the US, the automaker is recalling 50,571 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2013 model year fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 because the transmission control module programming can cause a three- or four-second lag in acceleration at low speeds. The explanation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "if the following sequence occurs within two seconds: during an upshift from first to second gear (8-10 mph), the driver then brakes the vehicle to less than 5 mph, and then accelerates again," the delay can occur. According to Automotive News, the recall effects 56,400 vehicles worldwide, and the company is not aware of any crashes caused by the problem. The fix consists of a transmission control module (TCM) reflash.
In a separate recall, GM is repairing 51 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from the 2015 model year in the US. In vehicles with diesel engines and dual fuel tanks, the nuts that connect the fuel pipe to each side of the transfer pump between the tanks may be improperly torqued, which could cause a fuel leak. Obviously, this could be a fire hazard. The remedy is simply tightening the hardware. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, there have been no fires actually caused by the potential leak. "Only 21 of the trucks are in customer possession and they can be fixed anytime because there are no parts involved. The others are being fixed at dealerships," Adler said in an email to Autoblog.
