For sale, this 1976 Eldorado Cadillac convertible I bought from my uncle in Missouri who kept it in his garage for decades. I've kept in a garage in DC for 3 years. I have to part with it because with a new baby, my automotive baby must go (only room for one). Just bought new tires as of 8/29/2014. Please keep in mind that no 38 year-old used vehicle is perfect, nonetheless, this car is fantastic. You want to feel fantastic driving a clean and great running classic, this is it. Now is your chance. It is priced to move. Do not let this get away. I have driven it about 200 miles (mostly to the airport). For a 38 year-old this car looks beautiful. It turns heads. It can make a bad day into fun day. It is one of those cars. Condition: It is a used car. Over all the body looks great. Most people are surprised to learn how old it is. I had a professional mechanic replaced the front and back body fillers, brakes, brake rotor and several hoses. Goss' Garage (of Motorweek fame) put on brand new tires and gave it an oil change on Aug. 30, 2014. An employee at Goss' told me several people asked if the car was for sale. Yep, it is a gem. More pictures & videos available upon request; I'll need you email address to send them to you. The convertible roof retracts. I can send you a video proving this point. The rear window is plastic. No floor mats. Driver's seat has a slightly noticeable flattening. Please ask if you have any question. All that's missing is you in the drivers seat. I welcome pre-buy inspection at a mutually agreeable time. The car is garaged in Northwest Washington, DC. Terms of Sale As above, winning bidder MUST make $500 eBay deposit within 48 hours or risk a no-sale default determined at the seller's discretion. I cannot help arrange shipping, but can be there to allow your shipper take the car. This is a used vehicle and is sold in "as is" condition. There is no factory warranty or extended warranty. Nonetheless, the new tires do have a warrant. The deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. NHTSA approves hybrid rearview mirror display in Cadillac CT6, Bolt EV
Tue, Feb 23 2016The Chevy Bolt EV prototype doesn't just have a fancy new all-electric powertrain. Just outside the driver's line of sight is a newfangled rearview mirror, one that can turn into a screen that shows a moving image from the rear-facing camera. Speaking to NPR's Robert Siegel yesterday, Department of Transportation secretary Anthony Foxx said that NHTSA has now approved this type of mirror/screen for use in vehicles. According to a letter from NHTSA to General Motors, GM will likely use this Full Display Mirror first in the 2016 Cadillac CT6 before coming to the Bolt. In its letter to GM, NHTSA said that the Full Display Mirror will only qualify as a standard rearview mirror as long as there are normal side mirrors in place. In other words, don't expect to see cameras and screens replacing all the mirrors in a motor vehicle just yet. @AutoblogGreen @NPR - #NHTSA has OK'd GM rear-view system that can switch between mirror & camera views. pic.twitter.com/6CBeIit10v — Anthony Foxx (@SecretaryFoxx) February 22, 2016 The Full Display Mirror was developed by Gentex, which has long worked with GM. The FDM debuted in 2014 and some people hoped it would also make its way into the Tesla Model X. Gentex, which also makes auto-dimming mirrors, says that it has "set out to develop the technologies and core competencies necessary to manage this evolution of the rearview mirror." The Chevy Bolt EV will start at $37,500, before incentives. The 200-mile EV will go into production late this year for likely sale in early 2017. Related Video:
Is Cadillac working on an ELR-V? [w/video]
Mon, 12 May 2014Could it be? Could Cadillac be working on an even higher-end version of its ELR plug-in hybrid? Well, General Motors' Executive Vice President Mark Reuss has gone on record as... well, not saying much. The exec was more than a bit coy on video (which you can view below) when asked about the idea of an ELR-V, although he did say that Cadillac was looking at "expanding the tuning envelope" for its plug-in coupe. What that means could be hinted at in these spy photos.
Cadillac is certainly up to something with this little red ELR. As is often the case, it's the car's enhanced brakes that give it away. Bigger binders are a telltale sign of sportier aspirations, and it's safe to say that rule applies with the ELR. The larger rotors and four-piston Brembo calipers are sourced from the Buick Regal GS, which we imagine would be plenty to bring the high-priced hybrid to a halt.
Obscuring those rotors and calipers are larger, double-armed five-spoke wheels. And, according to our spies, hiding behind that camouflage is a new grille. Outside of those two items, though, there's not much aesthetic change.
Cadillac, Buick and Chevy decisions impacted by worries abroad
Fri, 05 Jul 2013European Concerns Drive GM, But Beware Of The French Connection
GM's bid to rationalize Europe will impact the products that will be offered domestically.
It seems that Europe is defining the future of General Motors more so than its home North American market. Having axed Saturn, Pontiac and Hummer, GM has done a fairly good job of repositioning its remaining four divisions, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC. Cadillac carries the luxury banner. Chevrolet is aimed at the masses with cars and trucks along with a nod to performance thanks to Camaro and Corvette. Buick bridges the premium gap between Chevy and Cadillac, while GMC offers a hardcore work/upscale proposition.
