I HAVE NO INFORMATION REGARDING THE FIRST HALF OF THIS CARS LIFE, BUT I DO KNOW THAT PRIOR TO MY ACQUIRING THIS CAR IT HAD SAT IN A CLIMATE CONTROLLED STORAGE FACILITY FOR APPROXIMATELY 18 YEARS. THE PERSON I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HAD DONE QUITE A BIT OF WORK TO THE CAR BUT UNFORTUNATELY, VERY LITTLE OF WHAT HAD BEEN DONE HAD BEEN DONE RIGHT, SO LET ME BEGIN THERE. THE CAR HAD A HORRIBLE BACKFIRE AND IDLED LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK WHEN I BOUGHT HER. I FOUND THAT THE WRONG PLUGS HAD BEEN USED AND BRAIDED IGNITION WIRES, THE CARB HAD BEEN SWITCHED OUT AND WHOMEVER BUILT IT HAD DONE A REALLY POOR JOB, THE EXHAUST WAS ALL WRONG AS WELL. I FOUND A MATCHING NUMBERS CARB COMPLETE WITH AN NOS ORIGINAL DASH POT AND MACHINED AND REBUILT IT. I TUNED THE ENGINE WITH DELCO PLUGS AND SOLID CORE IGNITION WIRES, NEW COIL, CAP, ROTOR, POINTS AND CONDENSER, AIR AND FUEL FILTER.  I INSTALLED A NEW EXHAUST, MANDREL BENT TO FIT AS ORIGINAL AND SELECTED A MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER SO YOU CAN HEAR A LITTLE RUMBLE FROM THOSE 500 CU INCHES. THE A/C DIDN'T WORK AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL NEEDED SOME TLC. I CONVERTED THE SYSTEM TO 134 AND INSTALLED A NEW OE COMPRESSOR, REWORKED THE CONTROL HEAD AND POWER SERVO, INSTALLED A NEW HEATER CONTROL VALVE; THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WORKS LIKE NEW NOW. I RECORED THE ORIGINAL RADIATOR AND INSTALLED A NEW THERMOSTAT, BELTS AND HOSES. NEW BATTERY, NEW ALTERNATOR AND REGULATOR AS WELL. THE BRAKES ARE ALL NEW, I MEAN EVERY COMPONENT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS NEW. NEW TIRES, AMERICAN CLASSICS, THESE ARE REAL WHITE WALL TIRES DIRECT FROM COKER TIRE. THE FRONT END WAS SOLID ON THE CAR EXCEPT FOR THE TIE ROD ENDS SO THEY WERE REPLACED AND THE FRONT END ALIGNED. THIS CAR RUNS STRAIGHT WITH OUT HOLDING THE WHEEL AND THE WHEEL STAYS AT 6 O'CLOCK. THE TRANSMISSION SIDE COVER HAD A SMALL LEAK SO I PULLED THE TRANNY OUT AND WENT THROUGH IT, WHILE THE TRANNY WAS OUT OF THE CAR THE ENGINE GOT NEW FREEZE PLUGS, THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS SERVICED AND NEW CV AXLES WERE INSTALLED. I HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER CUSTOM BUILT WITH TORRINGTON BEARINGS. THERE ARE NO MORE LEAKS ANYWHERE ON THIS CAR. THE SUSPENSION IS ALL BRAND NEW AND THIS CAR FLOATS JUST LIKE A BOAT. NOW LETS TALK INTERIOR; THERE IS NOT A CRACK OR SCRATCH INSIDE THIS CAR AND EVERY GUAGE AND SWITCH WORKS. I REPLACED THE RADIO SPEAKERS, FRONT AND REAR AND ADDED XM, THE CONTROL HEAD IS UNDER THE DASH AND CAN BE EASILY REMOVED. I REPLACED THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER BLOWER BECAUSE IT HAD GONE BAD. ALL THE SEATS HAVE BEEN REBUILT WITH NEW FOAM AND THE DRIVER SEAT REUPHOLSTERED WITH A NOS SEAT COVER, ALL THE LEATHER IS VERY SUPPLE. CUSTOM MADE AND COLOR MATCHED CARPETED FLOOR MATS WITH CADILLAC LOGOS PROTECT THE ORIGINAL CARPETS. I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL FLOOR MATS AS WELL AS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL, AN ORIGINAL SHOP MANUAL AND ALL RECEIPTS AND DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS CAR.  THE ORIGINAL SOUND DEADENER IN THE TRUNK HAS BEEN REPLACED AS WELL AS THE WEATHERSTRIP SEAL AROUND THE TRUNK, THE TRUNK PANELS AND CARPET ARE ALL ORIGINAL. THE EXTERIOR PAINT HAS BEEN REDONE ON THE REAR QUARTERS AND LOWER DOORS BECAUSE THE PAINT JUST DIDNT LOOK THAT GOOD ANYMORE. I HAVE TRIED TO LEAVE THE ORIGINAL PAINT ALONE, BUT THAT IS MY PREFERENCE. I REPLACED THE ROCKER COVERS AS WELL. THIS IS A GREAT AUTOMOBILE, A REAL CLASSIC. A CAR THAT CAN BE DRIVEN EVERY DAY. I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF DRIVING THIS CAR ACROSS THIS COUNTRY TWICE AND NEVER ONCE HAD A PROBLEM. THIS CAR LOOKS AND DRIVES LIKE A NEW CAR,  COME SEE FOR YOURSELF. PLEASE CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS. 813-340-2222 MIKE

Brock Lesnar does M. Bison impression on Cadillac CTS

Fri, Jul 10 2015

There's no doubt that a huge amount of physicality is required to survive night after night in the ring as a professional wrestler. Conversely, the storylines that tie all the action together are as staged as any soap opera. However, there's nothing fake about watching two axes being embedded in a Cadillac CTS by WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's prodigious brawn was really putting this luxury sedan out of its misery, though. With matte black stripes on the hood, fake fender vents, camouflage along the side, and a decal proclaiming "Redneck" on the windshield, this particular Cadillac was far from the standard of the world. In favor of the CTS' build quality, Lesnar's hatchets didn't immediately do quite as much damage as you might expect, and he had to take several swings to achieve the destruction here. If you think that destroying a sedan one piece at a time sounds like something from a video game, you aren't alone. Someone else noticed a definite similarity to the bonus round from Street Fighter 2 where you get points for beating up a car at the dockside until it falls apart. Appropriate sound effects were even added, but having Lesnar throw a few pixelated fireballs would have been a nice inclusion, too. For the significantly longer, original version, check out the one embedded below. After Lesnar crushes the CTS, the actual wrestling does eventually ensue. The Caddy even briefly acts as a prop for some of the action.

2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe First Drive

Tue, Aug 5 2014

Save for a few years of its century-plus existence, Cadillac has offered its unique brand of American elegance in two-door, fixed-roof bodystyles. Most of these cars were big, floaty barges, of course, though its most recent offering was the wedge-shaped CTS Coupe. But whereas the CTS Coupe was a statement car – angular and severe, with somewhat limited appeal except to design snobs and provocateurs – the ATS Coupe represents a return to form for Cadillac, with a proper three-box (engine-cabin-trunk) body and a slightly lower price point that should broaden its appeal among a larger swath of the market. Generally speaking, the 2015 ATS Coupe is a two-door version of the sporty ATS Sedan, though, surprisingly, the only common exterior components are the hood, headlamps, and sundry trim pieces on the front fascia (which features a slightly larger grille, a wider lower air intake, and the redesigned, laurel-less Cadillac crest). Even the mirrors are different. The body stretches 0.8 inches in length and 1.4 inches in width, the roof is 1.1 inches lower and the rear windscreen slopes at a flatter, sleeker angle. Interestingly, the windowsills are actually quite a bit lower, further slimming the car. Thanks to its 0.8-inch wider front and rear wheel tracks as well as more tumblehome in the C-pillar area, the coupe sits lower and looks more planted than the ATS sedan, particularly from the rear three-quarter view. Filling the wheel wells is a family of slick 18x8-inch wheels, with 18x9-inchers coming on the rear axle of performance models. Even if all those changes haven't resulted in a wholly new look the way the CTS Coupe departs from its sedan progeny, the ATS two-door is a truly beautiful car that looks considerably better on the road than on a show stand. And for that, Cadillac deserves mighty praise. The ATS two-door is a truly beautiful car that looks considerably better on the road than on a show stand. It is a proper coupe, of course, and as such is saddled with the expected limitations that accompany modern two-door packaging, notably rear seat access and limited rear headroom. Since the floorpan is common to both bodystyles, rear legroom is the same as the sedan's, though headroom shrinks a considerable 1.8 inches, making it hard for even average-sized adults to sit back there without their heads touching the window glass.

Cadillac planning its own engines, halo cars

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Cadillac is in the midst of some big changes. It's got a new chief executive. It's taking some distance from parent company General Motors and moving to a new headquarters in New York. And it's instituting a new naming scheme that will allow not only for a more clear progression in its lineup, but also for more models. But that's not the end of the story. Not by a long shot.
Speaking with Automobile magazine, Cadillac's new president Johan de Nysschen revealed his intention to develop several new models and powertrains. For starters, he does not want Cadillac to continue borrowing engines from the GM parts bin, but intends to develop a new range of engines specifically for the luxury automaker. The program will likely start with smaller-capacity engines but eventually lead to new V8s as well, taking the place of the long-serving Northstar engine that finally ended its lifespan a few years ago after some two decades of production. Along with other technologies, de Nysschen envisions possibly sharing these powertrains with other GM divisions, but developing them first and foremost for Cadillac.
The bigger question, however, is where those engines would go, and de Nysschen had some thoughts to share on that front as well. For starters, the former Infiniti and Audi exec sees room for an even bigger sedan above the upcoming new CT6 that will cap the current range. Maybe even two of them. But that's not all. Johan wants to see Cadillac get (back) into the sports car game with a new halo model or two - something it hasn't really done since the Corvette-based XLR roadster. A pair of new crossovers are also said to be in the works, flanking the SRX on both sides with smaller and larger models.
