Stunning Silver 1970 Deville Convertible Up For Auction, 77k, Under 2k On Drivetrain, NO RESERVE 472 V8, 77k original miles on car, under 2000 miles since mechanical restoration. This is the last year of the Deville Convertibles, it's got a nice combination of silver paint and black leather. The Caddy got a new drivetrain in 2011, about 2000 miles since motor and tranny rebuild. Since I never intended on selling this car, I did everything with the intention of doing it once and doing it right. I spared no expense during the mechanical restoration. The suspension, steering, electrical, fuel, exhaust and all drivetrain components were all either completely rebuilt, tended to as necessary, or improved. When I got the Caddy the original motor wasn't bad, just tired and the tranny was leaking. I wanted to build my Dream Cadillac Convertible so I looked for one with a black leather interior (not easy) and preferably with paint that's not green, brown, baby blue or yellow. I got lucky and found one in Southern California with not just a beautiful black leather interior but with fairly new metallic silver paint. The Caddy was originally more of a light gray, the paint is a modern metallic silver. I don't like using the word "restored" because people define it differently. Mechanical: Engine rebuild including new motor mounts, newly painted engine bay, new radiator and hoses as well as externals (generator/regulator, power steering pump, fuel pump, carburetor, etc) as well as all gaskets (exhaust manifold, intake, etc). Transmission rebuilt at the same time, under 2000 miles on engine and transmission. I dressed up the motor a bit, I put on a chrome air cleaner and valve covers, I will include the freshly painted original air cleaner and valve covers or put them back on the car if requested. All the internals of the engine are stock. When the engine was rebuilt the Caddy got a full exhaust system from the engine back, everything done right, all pipes welded, it's nice and quiet. The entire brake system was redone as well, lines, calipers, rotors, cylinders, hoses and the booster was painted along with the engine comprtment. She got new front end parts including springs, idler arm, ball joints, bushings and shocks as well as a set of new Goodyear tires, the steel wheels were sandblasted and painted. I had the gas tank removed, cleaned and painted as well. The A/C compressor was not put back on the engine after the rebuild, that was the last thing to be done (they were waiting on some replacement a/c parts) but I wanted the car back and never got around to it. I was going to put it back on and get the A/C working this past summer but I ended up just leaving the top down and the boot cover on. The A/C did work before the rebuild, it actually still had the old freon and while it needed a charge, it still blew cold air. I will include the compressor and any parts not put back on, they're all boxed up. The top motor or switch quit towards the end of the season last fall, I haven't looked into it, it's easy to put up and down by hand. The power windows all work well. The 472 feels nice and strong, it's one of the best Cadillac motors ever. Cosmetics: the interior is very nice, the leather overall is in excellent condition, even the driver's seat does not show wear. The door panels, rear panels dashboard / dash display, headliner and visors are in very good original condition, no cracks, tears or missing parts. I replaced the faded original carpet with a fitted correct syle carpet off Ebay. The convertible top was replaced when the car was painted about seven years ago. It has a glass back window and a nice leather look boot cover. The underside looks like new, does not even show surface rust. All floors and trunk solid under the carpet, the Caddy has never been hit or had any kind of body repair and the chrome shines nicely. The weatherstripping around the windows and in the trunk is all new. She's never been out in the winter, she's always been a "Garage Queen". I'm only selling the Deville due to urgent financial circumstances as you can see from the lack of a reserve price. I've got more invested in the Caddy than any other classic I've ever owned, the mechanical restoration was the type done with the intention of driving the car for a long time. The photos you see are a combination of some quickies I took last spring for a photo shoot and the interior shots were taken on a movie set this past September (the movie is called "The Love Club", coming out in late 2014 or early 2015). I don't expect to get back what I've invested (we never do, I know), I just hope she goes to someone who will appreciate and take care of her. I hope I can another Caddy like this one when I'm ready get another. Engine starts easily even after sitting for weeks, the garage floor is always dry when I pull her out. She cruises nicely on the highway, 375 horsepower 472 V8 moves this big girl up the highway with ease. She idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, brakes evenly and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like an classic American cruiser should. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Deville is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a good door to door auto shipper if you need one. Classic Caddy which is as much a pleasure to drive as she is to look at. Any questions feel free to email or call 914-224-3230 |

Cadillac confident attitude will attract the elite to ELR plug-in hybrid [w/video]
Mon, Feb 10 2014Cadillac is not going to pull any punches when it comes to promoting its plug-in hybrid ELR. In the real world, the company is showing off the Wreath And Crest's coupe with Chevy Volt technology at exclusive events with "groups whose members are affluent, green-minded and have an appreciation for design and innovation," says Automotive News. That evidently means young Hollywood celebrities and other well-to-do demographics. As Cadillac global chief Bob Ferguson recently told the industry publication, "If you live on the West Coast and you're an architect and you've given to environmental causes, you're probably going to hear about the ELR. We have sliced and diced who is likely to buy this vehicle." "We have sliced and diced who is likely to buy this vehicle" - Cadillac's Bob Ferguson In the realm of advertising, Cadillac evidently thinks a fast-talking, USA-USA-USA! Type-A personality is just the kind of guy who will convince those celebrities and architects to buy one. For proof, look no further than the star of this new ELR ad called Poolside that Cadillac is airing during the Olympics. There are almost no details about the ELR in this ad, just a whole lot of attitude mixed with humor (the "We got bored" line is funny). In fact, there's almost no indication that the ELR is an extended-range hybrid at all. Short of a brief moment where our hero, actor Neil McDonough, unplugs his car from its charging station, you'd probably never know it's got an EV mode at all. That's undoubtedly a calculated bet by Cadillac, whose ad execs have undoubtedly noted that most electric cars are not selling well with an eco-first message, so they appear to be going with style and swagger instead. Scroll below to see what we mean. The ELR has a starting MSRP of $75,000, and at that price, it's already out of reach for most Americans. Automotive News suggests that annual ELR production is likely to be just shy of 5,000 units, so Cadillac could be on stable ground trying to appeal to such a limited number of buyers. What type of buyers? Well, that remains to be seen. Cadillac CT5 vs. BMW 3 Series | How they compare on paper
Fri, Apr 26 2019Cadillac just introduced the CT5 sedan at the 2019 New York Auto Show, and it's set to replace both the larger CTS and smaller ATS in the brand's lineup. We have all the details and features for you, in addition to a deep dive with the car's chief engineer, but now it's time to see how it stacks up to the long-time standard bearer in this class: the BMW 3 Series. Now, the car is a bit larger than the completely new 2019 3 Series, but Cadillac says the 3 and the rest of the compact luxury sedan class is its target for this car. We'll dive further into this little conundrum later. This comparison will look at how these vehicles measure up on paper, as we haven't driven the CT5 yet. That will come later, but we're expecting it to be a proper sport sedan competitor with the 3 Series, since Cadillac is building it off GM's dynamically superb Alpha platform. Now let's get on with the comparison. Powertrains and performance Both of these sedans come standard with 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The BMW four-pot is a bit more potent, coming in with 18 more horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque more than the Cadillac. Here's our driving review of the BMW. The only upgrade engine for both available initially are turbocharged six-cylinders. BMW offers up its revised inline-six, while Cadillac offers a V6. These six-cylinders are both 3.0 liters. Cadillac bests the BMW in brute torque by 31 pound-feet, but BMW takes the horsepower prize, making 47 more ponies. It's hard to say which car will actually be faster to 60 mph — they'll probably end up being about the same once official numbers are out. This segment used to be one guaranteed to offer a manual transmission, but that's not the case anymore. Neither Cadillac nor BMW will offer a manual to start, but expect to see the stick shift return to higher performance models of each car. For now, they both get torque-converter-style automatic transmissions. One dimension that isn't going away from either anytime soon is rear-wheel drive. Both cars offer rear-wheel and all-wheel drive in every spec available. Fuel economy for the 3 Series is impressive at 30 mpg combined with the four-cylinder. We'll have to wait and see if Cadillac can challenge that figure with its less powerful engine. Size and practicality Here's where a lot of the confusion about the Cadillac CT5 sets in. The CT5 is a tad larger than the 3 Series in its exterior dimensions, but the interior specs are nearly identical.
Cadillac CT6 shows its face in 2015 Oscars ad [w/video]
Mon, Feb 23 2015Have you been watching the 2015 Oscars? No? Then you've missed your very first look at Cadillac's long-awaited flagship, the imaginatively named CT6. Don't worry folks, we've got the entire spot, titled The Daring: No Regrets, available below. Marking the start of the new Dare Greatly campaign, the 60-second spot will be joined by three others during the Oscars' broadcast, and features a number of unconventional luminaries from the worlds of fashion, finance, technology and film, contrasting their common beginnings with their exceptional accomplishments. It's a powerful spot... and then the CT6 arrives. Asking "How dare a 112-year-old carmaker reinvent itself," a white CT6 is spotted (viewed through what looks like a bad Instagram filter) cruising slowly down a New York (we assume) street. The car itself is big and wide – properly American and Cadillac in its proportions – and features a very handsome evolution of the latest CTS' styling, with a new take on the brand's distinctive headlight and grille design. Have a look at the photo above, watch the ad and let us know what you think of both the commercial and the car that stars in it, down in Comments.
