UP FOR AUCTION I HAVE A 1979 COUPE DE'VILLE. CAR IS IN DECENT SHAPE FOR THE YEAR. FRAME IS SOLID FRONT TO REAR. MINOR RUST ON BODY HERE AND THERE, NOTHING MAJOR. FLOOR IS SOLID. COMES WITH THE BIG BLOCK 7.0L ENGINE AND STRONG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SHOWS 77,447 MILES ON CAR, I ASSUME TO BE TRUE MILES, TITLE SHOWS 77,694. HONEST MISTAKE I'M SURE SINCE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN BY LAST OWNER. I OWN AND OPERATE A REPAIR SHOP IN MY HOMETOWN. A CUSTOMER DROPPED THIS OFF WITH THE GOOD INTENTION OF RESTORING IT BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL GLORY. A YEAR AND A FEW BUCKS LATER CAR SITS AT MY SHOP AWAITING IT'S COMEBACK. LONG STORY SHORT.....TITLE IS CLEAN AND CLEAR AND IN MY HAND AWAITING IT'S NEW OWNER. WHILE AT MY SHOP WE INSTALLED NEW FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS AND PADS, ROTORS WERE IN GOOD SHAPE, NEW REAR WHEEL CYLINDERS, ALL NEW REAR BRAKE HARDWARE AND SHOES, REPLACED REAR BRAKE LINES, REAR DIFF SEALS, NEW WATER PUMP, SPARK PLUGS, CAP AND ROTOR, PCV VALVE, NEW BELTS, NEW ALTERNATOR.....ETC. I'M SURE I FORGET A FEW PARTS, BEEN A WHILE SINCE I WORKED ON IT. CAR DOES START AND RUN BUT REAR BRAKES NEED TO BE RE-INSTALLED YET...THAT'S WHERE WE LEFT OFF AT. BUT I'LL TRY AND HAVE THAT DONE BEFORE AUCTION'S END. CAR DOES NOT HAVE AN EXHAUST SYSTEM. WAS REMOVED AT THE Y PIPE MAKING ROOM FOR THE TRUE DUAL EXHAUST THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE WINNER OF THIS AUCTION HAS VEHICLE TOWED FROM IT'S CURRENT LOCATION SINCE I HAVE NOT INSPECTED THIS VEHICLE TO ENSURE IT'S SAFE TO OPERATE ON OUR ROADWAYS. VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS IS. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO STOP BY MY SHOP AND INSPECT THIS CAR BEFORE YOU BID ON IT SINCE ALL SALES ARE FINAL, SOLD AS IS. CURRENTLY LOCATED IN BETHLEHEM, PA 18015. Cadillac upgrades ATS sedan to match new coupe
Thu, 10 Jul 2014The big news when it comes to the Cadillac ATS for 2015 is surely the addition of the new coupe model, but that doesn't mean that Cadillac has forgotten about the sedan as well. In fact GM's luxury brand has rolled out a few choice enhancements for the four-door to bring it more in line with the new coupe.
Among those changes that we spotted a couple of weeks ago is a new front fascia that incorporates the brand's new wreath-less emblem, and a sleeker front bumper. The interior has been upgraded as well with new trim options as well as some new tech including Siri Eyes Free functionality, dictated text messaging and optional inductive smartphone charging.
Though the ATS Coupe does away with the base engine, sedan buyers can still opt for the 2.0-liter four with 202 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6-liter V6 carries over unchanged at 321 hp and 275 lb-ft, but the 2.0-liter turbo four gets the upgraded torque rating of 295 lb-ft (the highest in the range) to go with its 272 hp. Some new color choices are also among the upgrades you can read more about in the press release below.
Cadillac's de Nysschen won't budge on raised pricing
Thu, 18 Sep 2014According to new Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen, it will take between 10 and 15 years to elevate GM's top brand, which was once hailed as "The Standard Of The World," back to prominence in the minds of American customers. And to hear the executive talk of it, the brand is going to have to be willing to see sales falter in the near-term before they recover:
"Either you have to bring your volume aspirations into alignment with reality and accept that you will sell fewer cars... Or you have to drop the price and continue to transact at the prices where you were historically... I think the logical conclusion is that it's better to build off a very solid base in terms of [product] credibility, charge a fair price for the car and realize you have to wait until the volume comes."
In other words, sales will fall before they rise, and the brand has to be okay with that. Notice, too, that de Nysschen speaks of "a fair price" for Cadillac cars and utility vehicles. In this case, "fair" means more than many of the brand's traditional buyers are accustomed to, and roughly in line with the brands and machines Cadillac believes it is competing against. For instance, the newly enlarged 2014 CTS carries a suggested retail price that is over $6,000 higher than it was in 2013, and some trim levels boast an even higher price premium over the models they replace.
2015 Cadillac Escalade
Fri, 29 Aug 2014I have never liked traveling to Monterey, CA. The picturesque coastal city is about 300 miles from my home in Los Angeles, which means cramped and uncomfortable regional aircraft are part of the equation when the turnaround is only one night. Over the years, I have cursed the LA Basin's bumper-to-bumper traffic en route to the airport, argued with TSA personnel over carry-on baggage and waited countless hours for the fog to lift just for the anguish of being packed into a small regional jet for the flight. Of course, the process repeats on the trip home with equal misery.
Yet this time I am not suffering.
Cadillac has dropped its all-new 2015 Escalade in my driveway. Instead of battling city congestion, attempting to reason with misinformed government agents, snacking on a too-small bag of pretzels and physically rubbing shoulders with a dubious stranger for 90-plus minutes within the confines of a bumpy aircraft, I have chosen to forgo air travel and drive myself door-to-door in a fullsize luxury sport utility vehicle.
