This 2001 Cadilac Deville, one of GM's best selling luxury sedans, can be bought on an affordable budget.

With its strong powerplant, excellent road manners and well-appointed interior, the DeVille is one of the best full-size luxury sedans on the market.

This Caddy has been sitting for a few years, but has just passed the Rhode Island State inspection and is ready for the open road again.

The car runs and drives great, shows well for its age but it does need a little TLC to be up to snuff again.

The problem that was keeping it from passing inspection was trouble code P0743, Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid. The solenoid was replaced, but the SES light would still come and go. Its off now and is why the car passed inpection.

Other areas that need attention include: suspension work, exhaust work, the rear power windows, and the A/C.  Also some minor cosmetics with the worst being the tear in the back seat.

Follow the link below to see over 50 pictures which show the car in great detail, as well as the areas that need attention.

If your looking for that classic Cadillac ride without breaking the bank, this Deville is for you.

The Deville will be sold with a bill of sale and a copy of the previous registration. Rhode Island doesn't issue titles to vehicles over 10 years old, so check with your local state laws for what you may need.

Local bidders are welcome to inspect the Caddy, just email for an appointment. Shipping is the buyer's responsability and a $500 deposit via paypal is required within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within 7 days thereafter.

Follow the links below for the 50+ pictures and a video of the car running.

Cadillac's de Nysschen won't budge on raised pricing

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

According to new Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen, it will take between 10 and 15 years to elevate GM's top brand, which was once hailed as "The Standard Of The World," back to prominence in the minds of American customers. And to hear the executive talk of it, the brand is going to have to be willing to see sales falter in the near-term before they recover:
"Either you have to bring your volume aspirations into alignment with reality and accept that you will sell fewer cars... Or you have to drop the price and continue to transact at the prices where you were historically... I think the logical conclusion is that it's better to build off a very solid base in terms of [product] credibility, charge a fair price for the car and realize you have to wait until the volume comes."
In other words, sales will fall before they rise, and the brand has to be okay with that. Notice, too, that de Nysschen speaks of "a fair price" for Cadillac cars and utility vehicles. In this case, "fair" means more than many of the brand's traditional buyers are accustomed to, and roughly in line with the brands and machines Cadillac believes it is competing against. For instance, the newly enlarged 2014 CTS carries a suggested retail price that is over $6,000 higher than it was in 2013, and some trim levels boast an even higher price premium over the models they replace.

Corvette's Performance Data Recorder headed to other cars, will Cadillac ATS-V be first?

Fri, 14 Nov 2014

For 2015, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray gained a novel piece of high-performance technology: The Performance Data Recorder. This trick system combines video from a front-mounted camera with in-car data and GPS information to help drivers record and study their lap times, complete with data overlays. While it's a clever tool for track days, it's also finding popularity as a built-in dash cam of sorts. To this point, the technology has been a Corvette exclusive, but General Motors' executive vice president of global product development, Mark Reuss, has confirmed to Autoblog that it will soon be available in other vehicles.
At a media luncheon on Thursday, we asked whether GM was keen to expand usage of the technology to other models, and if we could expect to see something soon. Reuss coyly replied, "What's soon?" When we suggested the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V (which is scheduled to debut at next week's LA Auto Show), he replied, "There will be other uses, and it won't be that far away. How's that?"
Certainly not an outright confirmation, but we wouldn't be at all surprised to see the next high-po Cadillac roll under the klieg lights at the Los Angeles Convention Center next Wednesday brandishing more than just 450 horsepower.

Consumer Reports loves the 2014 Cadillac CTS

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Our first drive of the 2014 Cadillac CTS was just published today... we really liked the Vsport version. And Consumer Reports has some even stronger words of praise for the all-new luxury sedan. We already knew that Cadillac had stepped up its game with the third-gen CTS, but CR bluntly states that the sedan drives better than its German luxury counterparts.
While CR shows plenty of love for the new CTS, the outlet still takes issue with some of the in-car technology including the CUE infotainment system - no surprise there. The testers' offer all manner of positive comments where the impressive handling capabilities of the sedan are concerned, with lots of drifting around CR's private test facility in evidence to bear them out. Scroll down to watch the CTS get put through its paces.
