You are bidding on a really nice shape 1991 Cadillac Deville with a leak from a crack in the engine block a real crying shame as the car is otherwise in very nice overall shape with very  low mileage(less than 70,000 original ). The car was recently purchased  from the original owner by myself in Florida  for my son  who lives in South Carolina. It was driven from Florida to South Carolina and then shortly the leak occurred.   The mechanics who diagnosed the problem in South Carolina said it happened more than likely because the car sat so much over the years and apparently  this can happen to these 4.9 engines because of that. The car runs and drives great other than the leak which is now getting worse now to the point it shouldn't be driven. Before taking it to my son I had a new headliner put in it (it was sagging due to Florida heat ) .replaced the trunk pull down motor ,replaced the fuel data module ,installed new speakers (4); my son is keeping the aftermarket stereo that is in the car  and the  original radio will go with the car  .the tires are really good  and it has no other leaks (fluid or exhaust ). Everything worked well on the car other than the power antenna ,the A/C had been serviced  and blows cold  the power windows and seats work as they should ,the cruise control worked great as well on the trip from Florida . The interior is in really nice shape with only the drivers seat needing the cover repaired (cracks/seams) and crack in drivers door panel. The car belong to a 90 yr old lady who had to quit driving .If you are mechanically inclined this would make a great car to fix , the engine we were told could possibly be repaired as the crack is only in a water jacket area and not getting into the engine internally to affect how the engine runs, but the engine would have to be removed and this is something my son is not able to do and the cost to do so in a shop is not really practical so he is buying another car instead. The car can be seen at my son's in Bluffton SC  He can be reached at 843 304 1053 or 843 540 2332 his name is Todd.

Sunday Drive: Classic American nameplates and one exciting new German

Sun, Mar 25 2018

Our look back at last week's biggest automotive stories focuses first on the Jeep Wagoneer, an unequivocal American classic. Not only did the Wagoneer play a pivotal role in kicking off America's current love affair with the sport utility vehicle, it legitimized the Jeep brand in the mind of consumers looking not just for something to ably take them off the beaten path, but to do so in comfort, with the entire family along for the ride. So it comes as little surprise that Jeep decided to take one vintage Wagoneer, modernize it with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine, and put the thing on display as part of its annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. We're in love. Our next two stories focus on Cadillac. First up is news that the striking Escala Concept is headed for production in 2021 to serve as the brand's flagship luxury sedan. The second story involves Caddy's current top rung, the CT6, which gets a new twin-turbo V8 engine as part of its V-Sport package. And finally, we round out this look at last week's headlines with the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. We're mighty keen to try out Benz's new AMG-fettered turbocharged inline-six engine, and the C Coupe looks like a fine point of entry. As always stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the latest automotive news. GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."

Cadillac's de Nysschen won't budge on raised pricing

Thu, 18 Sep 2014

According to new Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen, it will take between 10 and 15 years to elevate GM's top brand, which was once hailed as "The Standard Of The World," back to prominence in the minds of American customers. And to hear the executive talk of it, the brand is going to have to be willing to see sales falter in the near-term before they recover:
"Either you have to bring your volume aspirations into alignment with reality and accept that you will sell fewer cars... Or you have to drop the price and continue to transact at the prices where you were historically... I think the logical conclusion is that it's better to build off a very solid base in terms of [product] credibility, charge a fair price for the car and realize you have to wait until the volume comes."
In other words, sales will fall before they rise, and the brand has to be okay with that. Notice, too, that de Nysschen speaks of "a fair price" for Cadillac cars and utility vehicles. In this case, "fair" means more than many of the brand's traditional buyers are accustomed to, and roughly in line with the brands and machines Cadillac believes it is competing against. For instance, the newly enlarged 2014 CTS carries a suggested retail price that is over $6,000 higher than it was in 2013, and some trim levels boast an even higher price premium over the models they replace.
