This is, essentially, a one-owner vehicle. Brand new, it was my mom's Mother's Day present in 1982. The vehicle was given to me in 1989. It presently has just over 65,000 actual/verifiable miles on it. It is a 1982 Cadillac Sedan De Ville with the HT4100 V8. Under the original GM manufacturer's warranty at around 40,000 miles, the engine and transmission were replaced - both replacements redesigned to eliminate the known factory defects within the original engine and transmission.

The original interior is intact with only a couple of minor cuts on the front passenger seat. There is some minor carpet wear underneath the custom-made floor mats on the driver's footwell.

The car is mechanically tip-top and needs no mechanical repairs whatsoever - it is ready to drive cross-country - something not easy to claim on an HT4100. The entire suspension system is brand new including, but not limited to, the coils. The new exhaust system contains some of the last available new parts directly from GM in Detroit. The Cadillac Goddess on the hood is in fact a 100% genuine chrome Goddess which came from the rear of an old filing cabinet of a GM veteran designer who happened to be cleaning out his office for retirement in the mid-1990's when I had initiated a nationwide search to find a real Cadillac Goddess and other new replacement parts directly from GM.  I restored this vehicle to brand-new condition in the mid-1990's because I am a car guy and sentimental reasons.  My silly emotional attachment can now be your significant advantage in picking up a like-new 80's gem for a bargain!

I installed a new headliner along with a dealer-installed Webasto sunroof when the vehicle exterior was refinished in the mid-1990's. I hope you can see from the photos that the custom wheels from Prestige and the Vogue tires are in excellent condition with no scratches, cracks, etc. . . The car has been garaged for its entire life and has spent the past 15 years in a climate-controlled secure garage along with some of my other vintage cars. Not only has the car been garaged for its entire life, for the past 15 years, it has had its own custom-made cover from the venerable Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories - I am including the cover, and its storage bag, as part of this sale! Except for worn-out elastic around the edges, the cover is in brand-new condition and will protect the car from all types of weather within reason.

It has a custom sound system with Rockford-Fossgate amplifiers, 10-disc CD changer, and in-dash cassette deck with removable faceplate.

Serious inquiries only, please.

GM threatens predatory dealers with order cancellations, non-transferrable warranties

Fri, Jul 29 2022

General Motors will launch a second salvo against misbehaving dealerships next week with a new set of policies aimed at curbing predatory markup strategies. With the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, GMC Hummer EV SUV and Cadillac Escalade-V about to head into production, GM is putting its foot down yet again. Dealers that attempt to circumvent GM's markup restrictions by dealing directly with brokers or other resellers could find themselves in a particularly nasty spot, as the company is threatening to withhold future allocations and end the transferability of warranties when dealers facilitate the reselling of vehicles within 12 months.  While this may help curb some dealership chicanery, it's possible the real loser in such a deal could end up being the customer who unwittingly ends up with an un-warrantied vehicle. We suspect GM has accounted for that, but we'll have to wait until next week to find out exactly how these new policies will be enforced.

Mystery Cadillac coupe concept revealed in patent drawings

Fri, Jul 6 2018

We have been reminded once again that when Cadillac designs a coupe, it's usually spectacular. The reminder comes in the form of a patent drawing filing that was previously reported on by Jalopnik. In the filing are shots of the two-door from just about every angle, and there's not a bad one in the bunch. Unfortunately, there isn't really any other information about the car in the patent, so the car remains a mystery in that regard. Still, there's a fair amount to be gleaned from the images. It certainly looks sportier than most recent Cadillac concepts. It has a fastback roof and a short deck lid. The rear bumper has a diffuser design fitted to it. The rear fenders are very wide. It has large auxiliary grilles on each side of the center one, and the way the taillights are designed seem to hint at extractor vents. The overall proportions even look a bit like those of the Camaro, but possibly a little larger. The car also looks like it's probably a concept. The side mirror stalks are far too skinny to actually be production units. The big diffuser and center exhaust, plus those rear extractor vent designs seem a little much for a production model, too. The headlights are also a little on the small side. Being a concept (probably), we're a little worried. We really want to see this thing come to market, but Cadillac has a bad track record of showing beautiful concepts that never make it to production, even when they aren't particularly over-the-top. The Elmiraj and Ciel are two that come to mind. The former was a coupe, too, and was elegant and grounded. We never got a production version of either. We did see some styling inspiration from the Elmiraj on the ATS and CTS, but they never quite captured the concept's beauty. Then again, when Cadillac has managed to bring a recent concept to production, the results haven't great. The Converj concept became the ELR, and while the styling came through fine, it was hampered by an uninspiring powertrain and an excruciating price tag. But hey, Cadillac could always prove us wrong. And we would like them to. GM’s Charlie Wilson was right: Stronger regulations can help U.S. automakers

Fri, Oct 26 2018

Charlie Wilson had been the president and CEO of General Motors before being nominated to become secretary of defense by Dwight Eisenhower. During his Senate confirmation hearings, he controversially said, "For years I thought what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." And he was right. While car companies aren't necessarily the most progressive when it comes to things that might have the slightest possibility of political blowback, General Motors should be credited for doing something absolutely forthright in this regard with its announcement that it wants the federal U.S. government not to squash the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements but to actually create a 50-state "National Zero Emissions Vehicle" program that, in the words of Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president, Global Product Group and Cadillac, "will drive the scale and infrastructure investments needed to allow the U.S. to lead the way to a zero emission future." Filing comments to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks is one thing. But a graphic the company developed for this announcement — shown above — is something else entirely, something that is absolutely credible, creative and clever. There is a photo of a Chevrolet Bolt EV driving along a highway, which seems to be in Marin County (based on the blurred San Francisco skyline in the background). Text on the photo states: "It's Time for American Leadership in Zero Emissions Vehicles." It seems to say, in effect, "If we want to make America great again, then we're going to do it by leading in technology, not by retreating behind weakened regulations." General Motors understands that the auto market is globally competitive, and if U.S.-based companies are going to be in the game, then they'd better be able to out-innovate the companies based elsewhere, where emissions and economy standards are not being weakened. What's good for our country ... Related Video:
