This is a sweet street yacht. Great for dropping the top and heading out when the sun is shinning. This Caddy has a New Top (includes hard rear window replacement if you're not a fan of vinyl) , new interior carpet installed over complete Dynamat Xtreme inside cabin. All new top pistons and lines, properly bleed, goes up strong and quiet. New rebuilt later year Cadillac 500 with the better oiling passages built by Maximum Torque Specialties (500CID.com) installed on 8/12. Edelbrock Carb and Performer Intake (will included stock intake). '74 HEI conversion with MSD Power, new belts and hoses, Custom Chrome Grill, Chromed Headlight Trim (spare trim included). This is a former Nevada Car with SOLID frame, no rust on frame, doors, door jams, or trunk. This car spends the winter in heated hibernation and includes a full car cover. This car had a complete interior re-do in maroon vinyl by previous owner as well as re chrome of exterior bumpers. New complete dual exhaust with SS mufflers which is not too loud. Tasteful pin striping. Coker Wide Whites with stock powder coated wheels, bright trim rings and spyders. All belts, hoses, other dry rubber replaced. Gas tank removed, inspected, cleaned, re-installed. Brakes, Coolcraft High Efficiency radiator, needs compressor if your wanting to run the AC. New Heater Core installed. Could do with a repaint since it is old paint. Dent on drivers fender from a door. This is a nice Caddy for the price and hard to find a '68 in this condition without a frame off resto. The Odometer has obviously rolled so who knows the exact miles. This is a fun steel beast to cruise with, go to car shows, beach, etc. It is a highway star, smooth level ride. This is a car that gets a lot of attention and drives the bow tie and argyle sock Caddy purists krazy. You can stick a Prius in the trunk and if you have not driven a car with about 5 feet of hood view your in for a treat. There is very little needed to make this a wild kustom or to return it to stock beauty. On Jan-04-14 at 18:32:26 PST, seller added the following information:
I updated and filled in some more info but I don't know how to DELETE the old repeating stuff from above.
This is a sweet street yacht. Great for dropping the top and heading out when the sun is shinning. This is a former Nevada Car with SOLID frame, no rust on frame, doors, door jams, or trunk. This car spends the winter in heated hibernation and includes a full car cover. This car had a complete interior re-do in maroon vinyl by previous owner as well as re chrome of exterior bumpers and the stainless trim is all there with minimal wear.
I put in a New complete dual exhaust from the manifold down with SS mufflers and larger better breathing pipes which are not too loud unless you punch it to hint that the hood has something more under it. There is tasteful pin striping. Coker Wide Whites with solid steel stock powder coated wheels, bright trim rings and spyders.
All belts, hoses, other dried rubber replaced. Gas tank removed, inspected, cleaned, re-installed. Brakes inspected and fixed. I installed a larger Coolcraft High Efficiency radiator. This car needs compressor if your wanting to run the AC. I put in a New Heater Core. Put on lift and replaced all the worn front end parts with Kanter parts and new shocks. The tranny looks like a rebuild, it was drained, cleaned, and inspected, then we replaced the gasket and closed it back up.
New Hartz Pin Point New Top (includes hard rear window replacement if you're not a fan of vinyl rear window). I removed the seats and old rug, clean up the floor and installed new interior carpet over complete Dynamat Xtreme wrap inside the cabin. Window motors replaced, and the door gaskets were replaced with Rubber The Right Way new gaskets.
All new top pistons and lines, properly bleed, goes up strong and quiet. New rebuilt later year 1974 styled Cadillac 500 with the better oiling passages built by Maximum Torque Specialties (500CID.com) with a #5 CAM and it was installed on 8/12. (Face it the first year 472 design was changed for a reason by Clark Street) Edelbrock Carb and Performer Intake (will included stock intake). '74 HEI conversion with MSD Power. The Custom Chrome One Piece Tube Grill and Chromed Headlight Trim really set this car off (spare stock trim included).
The original data plate lists Grecian White as the color with red interior. Could do with a repaint since it is old paint with minor wear and nicks. There is a dent on drivers fender from a door. This is a nice Caddy for the price and hard to find a '68 in this condition without a frame off resto. You could fix the dent and repaint and not have to do anything else major for a decade. The Odometer has obviously rolled since the last digit is not centered so who knows the exact miles but really nothing much left to do.
This is a fun steel beast to cruise with, go to car shows, beach, etc. It is a highway star, smooth level ride. This is a car that gets a lot of attention and drives the bow tie and argyle sock wearing Caddy purists krazy. You can stick a Prius in the trunk and if you have not driven a car with about 5 feet of hood view your, in for a treat. There is very little needed to make this a wild kustom, keep it this mild kustom, or to return it to stock beauty. 2020 Cadillac CT5-V, CT4-V to be revealed next week
Thu, May 23 2019Even though the ATS-V and CTS-V are on the way out, the future is looking bright for Cadillac's high-performance sub-brand. Why is that? Well we're going to see not one, but two all-new V models on May 30. The company revealed its plans to show the 2020 Cadillac CT5-V and the CT4-V in an announcement about 15 years of the V brand. Not much is known about either car, but both should be wickedly quick based on their predecessors. We're particularly curious as to what engines will be used. With the CT5-V, a return of a supercharged pushrod V8 seems possible considering the CT5 is based on the Alpha platform that also underpins the Camaro. But Cadillac may want to push its more unique powertrains such as the twin-turbo, double-overhead-cam 4.2-liter V8 in the CT6-V. In the CT6-V, it makes 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Cadillac's former CEO said that other cars getting the engine will have it 500 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. We think the company could get away with the full power in the CT5-V, though, since each car's mission and character is different. There's also a slim chance we could see a return of the manual transmission for the midsize sports sedan, based on what a Cadillac engineer said. As for the CT4-V, there are more questions, simply because we haven't even seen the regular version yet except in spy shots. Since the CT5 is built off the Alpha platform, it seems reasonable to think the CT4 will do the same, especially since the ATS also used the platform. And to leave space between the CT5-V and itself, using a hot version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 seems like the most likely choice. The hot V6 in the ATS-V made 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, so we would expect the same. Hopefully Cadillac will offer a manual with it again. One final note from the Cadillac V announcement also got our attention. It said that these two cars are "just the beginning." That seems a pretty obvious sign there are other V models in the works. Since the CT4 and CT5 will round out the company's car line, the logical next choice would probably be crossovers. It will be interesting to see what an XT4-V or XT5-V will be like, especially since they use front-drive platforms. But in the meantime, we'll look forward to Cadillac's hot sedans.
Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment
Thu, 20 Mar 2014One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.
GM offering factory-backed extended warranty for Chevys, GMCs, Buicks and Cadillacs
Mon, Oct 15 2018Cars are generally more reliable than ever before. When things do go wrong, every automaker offers some form of factory warranty (in most cases at least three years and 36,000 miles, though many extend even longer), providing peace of mind to new-car buyers that many faults will be fixed at no charge to the customer. Starting today, GM is offering a new optional plan that will extend the factory warranty on all new Chevy, GMC, Buick and Cadillac products. In the past, extended warranties have been offered as dealer add-ons, with all profits from these sales going to the dealership. GM's new program can be viewed as another nail in the the looming dealership-model coffin. According to Automotive News, some dealers aren't happy to see GM cut into their business like this, saying that it helps GM far more than it does dealers. GM says the new program will help keep customers in the GM family. Customers are also more likely to visit a GM service center rather than going to an independent repair shop. Currently, new Chevy and GMC vehicles come with three-year/36,000-mile warranties. Buicks and Cadillacs are covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles. The new program extends Chevy and GMC warranties to five years or 60,000 miles. Buick and Cadillac warranties extend to six years or 70,000 miles. GM, citing IHS Markit, says most owners keep new cars for about 6.8 years, so these warranties will cover most of the length of their ownership. The extended warranty will add between $1,000 and $2,000 to the price of a vehicle, and the additional cost can be rolled into the vehicle's purchase or lease price. Unlike many dealer extensions, the factory program covers the vehicle no matter who owns it. That should help increase the car's resale value if it's sold within the covered timeframe. GM says there's no deductible and no need to file a claim form when getting warranty repairs. Additionally, dealerships can continue to sell their own extended warranties or service contracts.
