*** THERE IS A SLIDESHOW WITH MORE DETAILED PICS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AUCTION *** 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Was originally Olympic White with a two tone black cloth over white leather interior. Car has the A/C, power front seat, and soft ray glass options. It also has factory power steering, power brakes, power door locks, power windows, and a remote driver side mirror. Completely loaded. I have included pics of a 1962 Convertible and another with the black over white leather interior to show what this could could look like when restored. Gorgeous. I believe the motor to be the original 390 but I do not know for sure. The plugs are pulled so there is probably some problem with it. You should plan on rebuilding it. The automatic transmission is in it, but the driveshaft is missing. This car will need alot of body work. Both fenders, the hood, and the trunk lid all need to be replaced. The two fenders might could be patched and repaired but I would just plan on replacing them. There is also a dent in the passenger side rear quarter that will have to be repaired. The trunk weatherstrip channels have alot of rust so they will need to be cut out and replaced. The front floor pans look good. The drivers side rear pan will need to be replaced. The passenger side rear looks ok. The trunk pan has some holes in it that will need to be patched. The front bumper is fine except for a ding on the bottom passenger side shown in the pics. I think it can be hammered out. The rear bumper has been twisted and has some rust. I'm not sure if it can be repaired or not. The driver side arm rest does come with the car. It had just fallen off. The rear fender skirts are missing. All the glass is good except the two window vents and the front windshield. The stainless on this car is almost perfect. *** The car will come with a bill of sale ONLY. Alabama does not title cars 35+ years old.*** DECODING: VIN: 62J051281 (off the frame rail) = 1962 Coupe DeVille Prod # starting at 000001 BODY TAG: 12B = Dec 2nd Week Style 62 6347 = 1962 Coupe DeVille Trim 40 = Black cloth over white leather Body FW 7462 = Fleetwood Plant Production #7462 Paint 12 = Olympic White TOP = N/A ACC EKY = Soft Ray Glass, Air Conditioning, Electric Power Front Seat Let me know if you have any questions. |

Cadillac's new ad campaign to tell you how to get lucky
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Cadillac is set to launch a new ad campaign this fall, as it attempts to maintain the momentum established by new models like the ATS. The campaign comes from an agency called Rogue, and according to AdAge, will lean on American values. It's called, "Work Hard. Be Lucky."
The campaign is fairly self-explanatory, just from the tagline. It's meant to make a Cadillac seem more attainable to the average, aspirational buyer. It does kind of pander to that American idea that everyone's hard work gets rewarded, but as ad campaigns go, that's not a bad thing.
Somehow, it doesn't roll off the tongue quite like "The Standard of the World." As AdAge points out, Cadillac's advertising over the years has lacked a real coherent theme, although we'll admit to enjoying the most recent campaigns, particularly the around-the-world jaunts with the ATS. It's unclear if the "Work Hard. Be Lucky." theme will evolve into an actual tagline for the brand, with Caddy spokesman Dave Caldwell telling the advertising mag, "It could very easily end up being a line of copy along with other lines; we don't really know yet. It's an open question as to how dramatically it will be featured."
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Next-gen Cadillac CTS-Vs caught in parking lot
Thu, 10 Jan 2013A pair of camouflaged Cadillac CTS prototypes were spotted, and thankfully photographed, outside a grocery store in Southern California. From the image above - there are plenty more if you click over to TotalCarScore.com - it appears these could be testers for the 2014 CTS-V, but that is just speculation. We've seen the obvious "V" motif in the grille before, and there's what could be another "V" in the design of the side mirrors.
The hood on the car in the background appears to include two bulges, but the single shot that affords a tiny peek under the hood shows reveals only the airbox. Plenty of rumors, and the sight of an engine cover inscribed with the words "Twin Turbo," have caused people to wonder if a twin-turbo V6 will live under the production car's hood instead of the V8 currently there. In back, instead of the round tailpipes found outboard on all the CTS sedans, there's a pair of integrated tips in a parallelogram shape. A new shifter with contrasting stitching was spied in the cabin.
If predictions hold up it will arrive later this year. When it does, expect the body underneath all that camo to be softer on the eye compared to the current car - less science and more art. For now, hit the link to see more spy shots of what's coming.
