Up for auction is a very nice 1969 Buick Skylark 2 door hard top. What I have for sale is a very nice car that turns heads and runs and drives GREAT. What I DON’T have for sale is a $40-$80K fire breathing dragon, beast of a hot rod. This is a car that you can get in, turn the key and drive to anywhere and enjoy it. The best part is that the pricing won’t BREAK THE BANK. WAAAAAAY less than $20K will buy this car and your money will be well spent.

These cars are not readily available and continue to rise in price about 8% - 12% per year. With normal, routine maintenance I believe that this car will last for decades.

In the late 60’s and early 70’s Buick was well known for its MONSTER HIGH TORQUE engines and its high line cars. The Buick name meant luxury and that did not always set well with the high performance guys of the day. If you wanted a “hot rod car” then you had to give up all of the FRILLS that went with the luxury cars….RIGHT?  Well as we have seen in recent years you can own a 12 second car or 180+ top speed car , from the factory ( ZL1 Camaro, Shelby, Corvette etc) and drive it around with the windows rolled up and the A/C  on, cruise set at 80 and get 20+ MPG.

Some people want to look at, drive, or own the screamers of that era which in this case would be the big block version of the GS or GSX. This car is NOT that. This is the Skylark Custom. It still carries a 350 V-8 with 280 factory rated H.P. and 275 Ft.lbs torque and a 10.25:1 compression STOCK!!!!

This car comes with its ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBERS, high compression Buick 350, that will still bark the tires, shifting, when you push it. The automatic 3 speed transmission shifts nice and smooth when you’re just “DRIVING” around. This car is at home in the neighborhood at 30 m.p.h. or on the highway. It loves 75 m.p.h. It seems to just “float” down the road. Both the engine and transmission have about 13K miles on them and BOTH perform well. The dual flow master type exhaust gives this car a GREAT exhaust note and still is quiet enough at highway speeds to enjoy the aftermarket stereo. Power steering and ICE COLD FACTORY air conditioning finish up just what you would expect to find in a nice car that you may choose to drive every day. This car is that nice and that dependable.

This car was refinished several years ago but still looks GREAT today. It is finished in its factory colors and shows no sign of any previous body damage. The windshield has a light scratch and a single “star” in it. The rest of the glass is in near perfect shape, as is the chrome and bright metal on this car. The front and rear suspension is in GREAT shape and it drives VERY WELL.

The interior is in excellent condition with the exception of the headliner that I will replace before it leaves here. Just to be clear. It will have a PERFECT headliner the correct color when it sells. The body on this car is very straight and only shows a couple of “chips” or dings’. I don’t go on and on with a 10 page list of what all has been done and when. How about the fact that this car just does everything that it’s supposed to do and more. Add to that the fact that it has a near new appearance. I don’t need to tell you that I put new locking lug nuts on it and blah, blah, blah. It’s just right. Under the hood and under the car is nice and rust free.

This is a nice car that has been very well maintained and can be driven home from Corpus Christi, Texas with confidence!!

You may have questions, please feel free to call. Scott 361-331-3322. I can and will assist with shipping WORLD WIDE.I have been in the restoration business for more than 2 decades and yes, my opinions are mine. My opinion is that this is a very well done car that is used to being driven and performs as it did the day it was purchased new……45 years ago. Hard to find these days.

As this car is for sale locally, I reserve the right to stop this ad at any time for any reason.

2020 Buick Encore GX First Drive | Bringing serenity to the subcompact market

Mon, Aug 24 2020

With Buick seeing sales success in our crossover-crazed world, it’s no wonder the company is adding to its crossover lineup with the 2020 Buick Encore GX. It sits just above the existing Encore, and it offers more space and new turbocharged engines for just a bit more money. In fact, as it starts at just $900 more than the existing Encore and offers more power, space and fuel economy, itÂ’s unquestionably the Encore version to get when heading to your Buick dealer. But compared with other crossovers, the BuickÂ’s only real advantage is in its quietness, refined powertrain and upmarket badge. Otherwise it's a fine but unexceptional crossover. Powering the Encore GX is your choice of small turbocharged three-cylinder engines. The standard engine, available with every trim, is a 1.2-liter unit making 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. ItÂ’s only able to be paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. ItÂ’s also not the most efficient powertrain offering, returning 28 mpg in town, 31 on the highway, and 29 combined. The optional engine, available only on the upper two trims Select and Essence, is a 1.3-liter example making 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive, or a nine-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel-drive. Also, because of efficiency boosters such as an offset crankshaft, electric oil pump, electric brake booster and electric turbo wastegate, itÂ’s the most efficient choice. With the CVT and front-wheel drive, the Encore GX manages 30 mpg in the city, 32 on the highway, and 31 combined. The all-wheel-drive version only gets 26 mpg in town, 29 on the highway and 28 combined. Our test car was an Encore GX with the 1.3-liter engine and the CVT, and on paper, itÂ’s the engine to go with. ItÂ’s more power with less fuel use. And while itÂ’s not the most powerful car in its segment, its torque is accessible throughout the rev band, so it never feels slow. Buick has done an excellent job keeping the engine quiet, either through powertrain refinement or through extensive sound deadening. YouÂ’ll never hear more than a faint growl from under the hood. The CVT is absolutely the transmission to choose, too. ItÂ’s amazingly smooth and unobtrusive. The revs are always kept low and thereÂ’s just enough variance in them that it doesnÂ’t feel like a rubber band. It responds fast to your right foot, too, so you arenÂ’t waiting for more rpm when needing to accelerate faster.

Buick applies the GS treatment to an electric Electra

Wed, Oct 12 2022

A sporty Buick in the 21st century? A contradiction, some might think. But the product planners at Buick — usually the most conservative brand in General MotorsÂ’ stable — apparently think otherwise. Earlier this month, GM filed an application with the United States Patent office for the Electra GS nameplate, pairing the “Gran Sport” badge with a name that dates back to the first Electra model that debuted more than six decades ago. GM showed an Electra EV concept in 2020 in China and a sleek Buick Electra-X concept SUV this summer. As part of its plans to go to a fully electric lineup by 2030, Buick announced in June that an electric Electra — nice fit, no? — would be shown later this year and released in 2024. The addition of the prestigious Gran Sport badge refers back to the Buick muscle cars of the mid-Sixties, including the Skylark GS and the Riviera GS. It since has been applied to other Buicks, including the Regal GS. The brand has also indicated that it will launch at least two electric SUVs next year, but that plan might not entice some dealers to continue to sell and service Buicks: GM last month said it would offer dealerships in the United States buyouts if they balked at investing in the considerable upgrades required to service EVs. “Not everyone necessarily wants to make that journey, depending on where theyÂ’re located or the level of expenditure that the transition will demand,” Buick Global Vice President Duncan Aldred told the Wall Street Journal. “So if they want to exit the Buick franchise, then we will give them monetary assistance to do so.”

Junkyard Gem: 1983 Buick LeSabre Estate Station Wagon, Rocky Mountain High Edition

Thu, Mar 23 2017

If you live in Colorado and want an affordable chariot to haul you and your snowboarding droogs to the slopes, you could get one of the obvious cheapskate choices, e.g., a Tercel 4WD, a Corolla All-Trac, or an 80s 4WD Subaru wagon. However, if you want to channel the spiritual forefathers of early-1980s punk rock (and you do), you'll need a big, battered, Detroit bomb. This '83 LeSabre, spotted in a Denver self-service wrecking yard, is such a car. As you can see in 1984's Suburbia, you're pretty much halfway to being a member of The Vandals when you drive a couple of tons of once-luxurious Detroit Iron. 1983 was the final year of the Malaise Era, and so you didn't get much power from the V8s back then. The standard engine for the LeSabre that year was an Olds 307 generating a mere 140 horsepower. The only way to get a burnout out of this setup was to pour a case of Lucky Lager over the right rear tire, then neutral-drop the transmission while floating the valves. Chrysler and Nissan dominated the Whorehouse Red car interiors during the 1980s, but GM made a respectable showing with this scratchy, velour-influenced stuff. When you know you're a car's last owner, nothing holds you back from decorating it to suit your tastes. Ron Paul, the Snowboarders + Skiers For Christ, and many other icons of Buick-driving snow enthusiasts are represented upon the ample flanks of this wagon. How many miles are on it? With a five-digit odometer, there's no telling. The Colorado sun is rough on interiors, but this car may have spent its first couple of decades parking in a garage, or maybe it came from cloudy Oregon. Advertising for this generation of LeSabre emphasized fuel economy, which may have been a less-than-convincing approach. Related Video:
