I have up for auction a very nice 1967 Buick GS400 in great shape. This car is very original with the original paint, interior, motor and transmission. Now please know that the Motor, Transmission, carburetor and brakes have all been rebuilt. Along with all that it has new tires, starter, battery and flow-master mufflers. I have all the receipts to show that the motor, trans and carb has been rebuilt along with all the new parts. So the drive train is all new and rebuilt with over 6000.00 in receipts and it runs great. This car will drive anywhere. The Interior is original and all the seats look good with the execution of the drivers seat. The car is equipped with the center console option and has the tack in it. The trunk is equipped with what looks to be the original tire and even has the tire cover and original jack. Also the dash has a dash cover to protect the non cracked dash. I will say it again the dash is not cracked at all and is in dam good shape. All the glass is also in great shape and has no cracks or bubbles. Ok now for the bad, it has the original Frigidaire AC pump but it dose not work and only blows cold air. Next the radio will not power on and I have no idea just why. There is light hale damage that can be seen in the chrome pieces around the doors and windows but it really dose not detract from the car. I also have and will include three N.O.S AC Delco Air cleaners and I have the parts manual and sales procures for this great car. Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'
Mon, 27 Oct 2014The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

Junkyard Gem: 1956 Buick Special 4-Door Sedan
Sun, Aug 6 2023Buick was flying high in the middle 1950s, with an all-time sales record of nearly 800,000 cars sold for the 1955 model year alone. Buick stood proud in third place for new-car sales in the United States for 1955 and 1956, behind only Chevrolet and Ford. At this time, both Oldsmobile and Buick built cars on the GM B Platform, with the Buick being the swankier and more prestigious of the two. Here's one of those Buicks, found in a Denver self-service boneyard recently. The list price of this car was $2,416, or about $27,505 in 2023 dollars. Located one step down on the GM Ladder of Success, the 1956 Olds 88 sedan started at $2,226 ($25,342 now). The Oldsmobile had a 324-cubic-inch (5.3-liter) Rocket V8 rated at 230 horsepower, which was serious stuff for 1956. This 322-cubic-inch Buick Nailhead V8 made ten fewer horses for 1956, but it would be bored and stroked out to 364 cubes for 1957 (and was all about land-yacht torque, in any case). A three-on-the-tree manual transmission was standard equipment on the 1956 Buick Special, but this one has the $204 Dynaflow automatic transmission ($2,332 in today's money). The Dynaflow usually gets called a two-speed, but it drove like more of a very inefficient (yet smooth) CVT that had two manually-selected ranges. This car spent too many decades outdoors to have any chance of a restoration. As often happens with cars stored in fields in rural Colorado, someone used this Buick for target practice. The bullet holes look like little VentiPorts. Does the '56 Buick go? Va-va-va-voom!
