                                              NO RESERVE AUCTION!

I am offering for auction my 1963 Buick Special convertible. I bought this car several years ago and have not had time to do anything with it and it is just deteriorating in my yard. This is a decent project car that runs and yard drives, but needs brake work. It has the peppy aluminum V8 which is numbers matching to the car. It has very old gas in it right now and the carburator needs rebuilt, so it is currently running rough. I have let the engine idle for at least 20 minutes and there was no overheating issues. The car needs a new exhaust system and a battery.

The body of this car is pretty solid for its age. The paint appears to be mostly original with the only bondo being a skim coat on the driver's door skin, probably from a crease in the door. There is some rust in the floors, door bottoms, quarters {minor}, trunk, and under the back window as shown in the pictures. I have rust free replacement doors that will be offered to the winning bidder for sale seperately. I also have many other nice parts I bought over the years that I will offer to the winning bidder.

The interior of this convertible needs a cleaning, but is in pretty good condition. The driver's seat and driver door panel are the worst part. The top is dirty but in good condition with one tiny hole where a tree branch fell on it. Back window is clear.

I think this is a fairly easy project that could be on the road by summer with a little time and $$. I have a clear title in my name and will help load on a transporter for shipping. Payment to be by cash in hand or cashier's check. A $100 deposit will be required within 48 hours via Paypal. I reserve the right to stop the auction at any time so bid early. I will not accept bids from Ebayers with "0" feedback. Thank you, Barry 301-740-8110.

Buick might be getting a logo makeover

Fri, 23 Nov 2012

General Motors has finished off an extensive model overhaul for its Buick division, but along with its updated cars, the brand might also be getting a new logo. According to the Detroit Free Press, GM North America President Mark Reuss indicated that the Buick tri-shield logo could be getting a makeover, but offered no further information.
It is unlikely Buick will completely redesign or replace its current logo, but the article seems to indicate that it might return to color; although all chrome now, the logo used to feature red, white and blue shields. Head on over to the Detroit Free Press article to look at some past Buick logos including one from 1904.

Buick Verano to go turbo-only for 2014?

Sat, 22 Dec 2012

If VIN tags recently posted online prove accurate, the 2014 Buick Verano may be getting a new base engine. Presently the Verano makes use of GM's 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine in non-turbo trim; 2014 documentation appears to indicate that GM's entry-level luxury compact will instead feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill.
If this is the same engine seen in Europe, GM Inside News suggests it may offer 192 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque - useful improvements over the larger naturally aspirated mill's 180 hp and 171 lb-ft. More importantly, the downsized engine would likely improve on the Verano's current fuel mileage estimates of 21 city and 31 highway.
We like the Verano in both of its current iterations, but the 1.6 turbo engine sounds like a worthwhile upgrade if this reports turns out to be true. Plus, if more performance is your bag, baby, there's always the Verano's optional 2.0 turbo engine with an impressive 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft from just 2.0 liters of displacement.

Bob Seger's Detroit Made music video is an homage to the Motor City

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

At this point, Bob Seger feels like the living embodiment of old-school rock 'n' roll. The Michigan native has been strumming out classic records like Night Moves for decades, and he just released a new single called Detroit Made. It sounds like a future staple of just about every classic car show within the next few years, and the video is dedicated to the Motor City, past and future.
Detroit Made is all about cruising in the city in a classic Buick Electra 225, perhaps better known as a "deuce and a quarter." It's straight-down-the-middle rock and could just as easily be from a decades-old Seger album as something new.
The video for the new single mixes shots of American classics cruising along Woodward Avenue with a contemporary look at the city. Sure, there are the well-known dilapidated buildings falling into rubble, but the people there aren't just letting the city die. Other parts show the attempts to clean things up and rebuild. Check out the video if you need a few minutes of old school rockin' in your life.
