 Hello,
Here is a chance to own the best 1983 Riviera in the country. It's almost new! 4400 miles is all it has on it. I purchased it from the original owner. He purchased the car new and drove it on a long vacation. From then on it sit in his car collection which was climate controlled. I purchased it from him several years ago. Since then it has sit indoors in my car collection. It's been fun to own but now I am ready to have something new so I am offering it up for sale. This is a rare chance to own a like new 30 year old car.
Body:
All origianl. In great shape with no visible dings or scratches. Vinyl top looks new. Chrome looks new. Trim and rubber look new. The original bumper fillers are still in the car which is unbelievable considering they all fall apart in a short period of time. A 10 out of 10 in my opinion.
Interior:
Beautiful color! All I can say is it looks just like the day Detroit built it. Loaded with options. Even has a CB radio (last year offered). This is one of the most comfortable vehicles you will ever sit in. Everything works.
Underhood:
All original. Belts, hoses, plugs, wires....it's all the way it came from Detroit except for the battery. V8 automatic car. It looks just as good as the day it was built.
Trunk:
It's all original with everything in it that came with it new. Just like the day it came from the factory.
Undercarriage:
Extremely clean. Slight surface rust on exhaust and items that were never coated or painted. Probably had surface rust on these items on the dealer's lot since I have seen many on the lot just like this before. Factory undercoating. Original tires...yes...the ones that came from the factory with it and they look new still! The cleanest undercarriage on any original 30 year old car you will ever find!
This car is a time capsule. It's the closest thing to a new 3 decade old car you will ever see. It was top of the line in the day and designed for the car customer that had luxury and class in mind. Good luck bidding and don't miss out on something you will never be able to buy again.

GM’s Charlie Wilson was right: Stronger regulations can help U.S. automakers
Fri, Oct 26 2018Charlie Wilson had been the president and CEO of General Motors before being nominated to become secretary of defense by Dwight Eisenhower. During his Senate confirmation hearings, he controversially said, "For years I thought what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." And he was right. While car companies aren't necessarily the most progressive when it comes to things that might have the slightest possibility of political blowback, General Motors should be credited for doing something absolutely forthright in this regard with its announcement that it wants the federal U.S. government not to squash the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements but to actually create a 50-state "National Zero Emissions Vehicle" program that, in the words of Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president, Global Product Group and Cadillac, "will drive the scale and infrastructure investments needed to allow the U.S. to lead the way to a zero emission future." Filing comments to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks is one thing. But a graphic the company developed for this announcement — shown above — is something else entirely, something that is absolutely credible, creative and clever. There is a photo of a Chevrolet Bolt EV driving along a highway, which seems to be in Marin County (based on the blurred San Francisco skyline in the background). Text on the photo states: "It's Time for American Leadership in Zero Emissions Vehicles." It seems to say, in effect, "If we want to make America great again, then we're going to do it by leading in technology, not by retreating behind weakened regulations." General Motors understands that the auto market is globally competitive, and if U.S.-based companies are going to be in the game, then they'd better be able to out-innovate the companies based elsewhere, where emissions and economy standards are not being weakened. What's good for our country ... Related Video:
Chicago Auto Show: The really big reveals from shows past
Fri, Feb 9 2024The 2024 Chicago Auto Show may seem like a shell of its former self, but it still holds the title of the largest consumer auto show in the United States. It didn't get that reputation simply by being efficiently produced or convenient for locals desperate for something to do in February — it earned it over decades of breaking automotive news and powerhouse reveals, eventually earning an informal designation as America's truck show. 2024 may be a down year for Chicago, but let's not forget all of the great things that have come out of it, historically. Here's a look at some of our staff favorites. Bet you didn't know about a few of these cars that were first revealed in the Windy City.  2008 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 I didn't just pick this one as a former Challenger owner, but instead to illustrate just how many cool Chicago debuts we take for granted. Chrysler often chose its home turf to debut new cars, so the few times its unveilings happened elsewhere tend to stick in our minds. The first Challenger SRT-8 was kind of garbage, if we're being honest. I mean, who buys a race-bred, V8-powered muscle car without a limited-slip differential? But the SRT-8 formula evolved over time into something truly special, and what we saw in Chicago was essentially the early version of the Scat Pack, which was ultimately very successful for Dodge. And who would have thought we'd be here, 15 years later, still talking about that debut? And still loving these big Mopars, flaws and all. — Associate Editor Byron Hurd SHO time in Chicago IÂ’ll always have a certain fondness for the return of the Taurus SHO at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. Chicago has always leaned truck and van heavy for press reveals, but every now and then, as this list illustrates, something spicy would appear. The return of the SHO as a high-powered successor to the original that ran from 1989-1999 gave enthusiasts hope for FordÂ’s performance business, especially for sedans. With a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 packing 365 hp, all-wheel drive and five-spoke wheels, the SHO was a nice upgrade from the lower-rung Taurus models. It was a bit more sedate than the original SHOÂ’s Yamaha-sourced V6 that teamed with a five-speed manual transmission, but still a worthy response to the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and later the Chevy SS. The SHO — Super High Output — begat things like the Fusion ST and gave Ford solid four-door performance for the rest of the decade.
