 Hello,
Up for sale is my 1970 Buick Riviera. This is a survivor. As you can see from some of the pictures I have other Rivieras. This one was an addition to the herd back in 2005. I bought the car at an estate sale. The original owner passed away and this car among many other items were auctioned off in North Carolina. I drove the car home from the auction over 75 miles without problem. Upon buying I was pleased to see a folder of documents from all work done on this car for over 2 decades! Most are hand written by the original owner. they date back to 1976. Even letters sent to Buick by her. Since then it has been a driver for me. It has cruised 100 miles to Pigeon Forge and many miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The car has attended cruise ins and shows. It always gets attention where ever I go. The car has always been stored inside with my other cars.
Body:
Documents show the car being repainted in 1976. It was repainted in a tan color. This was a color change from the original dark gold. Typical paint job for the times. Not a show quality job but still shines and looks good enough for people to say it's a beauty. A couple dings, scratches and touch ups. Only way I would repaint this car if I was going to make a show car out of it. It appears to have never had body work anywhere and by now if it had any serious rust it would be showing signs. Still has the original vinyl top that is in surprisingly good shape for the age of the car. Notice the short rear fender skirts. These are rare and look much better than long ones. Overall this body/paint/top is in good shape and in good driver condition. Chrome is original. Not show quality but no rust or bad pits. Like the paint, I would not rechrome anything unless I was making an all out show car. All glass appears to be original. Floors and trunk pan look good. Trunk is solid. Original jack/wrench and wheel with old tire. Original carpet/cardboard that's a little worn.
Interior:
Like the outside the interior is mostly original. Outside a donor console lid and carpet floor mats I see nothing different than the day Detroit sent it out with(original mats come with car). Seats look very nice for their age. Driver's seat has a couple of very small blemishes but other than that the seats look great. Console, dash, headliner other panels look very good. Some wood grain on the bezel is faded. Most of the wood grain looks great. Bucket seats and rocker shifter make this a rare Riv. It's rare finding these cars with original interiors this nice.
Drive train:
Car shows around 25k miles so I assume 125k. I would assume the engine, tranny and rear end are all original. It sounds great. Starts great with no smoke. I never have added oil between changes. I tuned it up a few years back and it ran great with lots of power. This was Buick's strongest 455! T-400 shifts great. Rear end is a rare posi trac and works fine. Brakes stop good and straight. Power steering works fine. Never has gotten hot during the trips I have had it on. I don't even see any noticeable leaks. New exhaust that sounds great. Tires look very good. Clean under the hood with almost new battery. Drives straight and smooth. This is a very solid performing car!
Things needing attention:
1.Pass. side window not rolling down (like this when I bought it probably needing a motor which I have)
2.Air conditioning not working. (never bothered looking at it since I knew it would leak down between driving)
3.Radio has no sound (lights up and has power to it)
4.Clock is not working like all others I have
5.Has 2 year old gas needing freshened up
I have tried to describe it to the best of my ability. It has not been driven this year but had no issues last year when I drove it down the road and back. It's too nice to give away so a reserve will be placed on it. You buy it as is where is. Deposit is required after purchase and cash would be great on day you arrive to pick it up. Thanks for looking and good luck!

Neil Young to auction model train collection, classic cars

Thu, Nov 2 2017

LOS ANGELES — Rock singer Neil Young is selling some of his most prized possessions — part of his model train and classic car collections. The Canadian folk-rock star is putting more than 230 of his vast collection of Lionel trains and some of his cars up for auction in Los Angeles in December. Some of the trains have estimated selling prices of up to $9,000, Julien's Auctions said on Thursday. Young, 71, known for his Woodstock-era songs as well as "Ohio," "Heart of Gold" and many, many others, has been a passionate model train enthusiast for more than 20 years. His collection and vast layouts at his California ranch took off in the early 1990s as a means of connecting with his son Ben, who has cerebral palsy, Young said. Young is also selling some of his classic car collection. They include: A first-in-production 1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark convertible 50th anniversary special edition, with a steering wheel hub saying "customized for Neil Young," that has a pre-auction estimate of $200,000 to $300,000. A 1954 Cadillac Fleetwood Imperial eight-passenger limousine (estimate $30,000-$40,000) with the Cadillac crest styled "Broken Arrow" emblem on the rear passenger door, referring to both the Buffalo Springfield song and his ranch of the same name in Portola Valley, Calif. A 1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse built by Flxible (estimate: $8,000-$10,000) used by Young and his band, The Squires, to haul equipment to gigs in the early 1960's. Dubbed "Mortimer," it's decorated with backstage passes and bumper stickers, and it inspired Young's song "Long May You Run." A 1941 Chrysler Series 28 Windsor Highlander two-door, three-person coupe (estimate: $15,000-$20,000), considered Chrysler's most prestigious model in its day. (For a closer look at Young's lifetime interest in cars, here's a New York Times interview from 2012, which includes an anecdote about the time he ate road tar. Or his memoir "Special Deluxe: A Memoir of Life & Cars," in which he recounts every car he ever owned, and describes how he wrote the lyrics for "Like a Hurricane" in the back of a friend's 1950 DeSoto. He promoted the book in this NPR interview. He also tipped us off to the return of the Lincoln Continental, and is known for his LincVolt plug-in biodiesel 1960 Lincoln.) As for Young's train collection, he designed a remote control that allows multiple trains to run at once, and a device that delivers realistic railroad audio to help his son get the most of out the hobby.

Buick shows US dealers 2016 Cascada convertible

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The affordable four-seat convertible has become a largely forgotten genre in the States, especially with the death of the Chrysler 200 Convertible. Of course, there are still premium options from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz - not to mention more overtly performance-oriented droptop pony cars from Chevrolet and Ford - but if you want an affordable cruiser, you're kind of out of luck. That may be about to change, however, with renewed rumors of the Opel Cascada (pictured above) making it across the Atlantic wearing a Buick badge.
According to GM Inside News, Buick showed off the Cascada to US dealers last week, with renewed word that the company plans to bring it over from Europe for the 2016 model year. The US version will reportedly be practically identical to its German cousin in terms of styling, but the powertrain underneath is less certain. According to GMI, it may use the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is available in Europe with either 168 horsepower or 197 hp.
The Cascada rides on GM's Delta II platform, which also underpins the Verano, and the latest rumor certainly provides even more evidence that the convertible is probably on the way. Speculation about the droptop started when GM CEO Dan Akerson said last year that the car was on his wish list to bring over. Then, the US trademark on the name was reserved earlier this year, and the release was speculated for sometime in early 2016.

PSA's purchase of Opel from GM is expected to be finalized soon

Sat, Mar 4 2017

PSA's purchase of the Opel/Vauxhall division from General Motors is expected to be officially announced on Monday, according to The New York Times. PSA, the parent company of European automakers Peugeot and Citroen, will reportedly hold a joint press conference with GM in Paris to announce the deal. GM has worked as part of an alliance with PSA in Europe since 2012. The deal could be a big boon for both companies. For PSA, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall into its fold would catapult the automaker into second place behind Volkswagen for European marketshare, and would allow the company to spend research and development costs across a greater number of vehicles. And GM, which has struggled in recent years to turn a profit with its European division, would be able to focus more squarely on the areas where it's most profitable and to invest in future technologies like automation. But the deal isn't without its potential pitfalls, primarily for PSA. GM hasn't been able to make a success of Opel and Vauxhall, and it's not a sure bet that PSA will, either. What's more, the addition of Opel and Vauxhall doesn't expand PSA's reach any further into new markets, like China or India. The NYT cites data from Ferdinand Dudenhoffer, a professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, showing that 70 percent of PSA and Opel business is done in Europe, a market that has been shrinking since 1999. We'll have to wait a few days to see exactly how the deal between PSA and GM will be structured. We're also curious to see how the loss of Opel may affect GM's lineup in the States, especially for Buick, since the company's Regal sedan is based on the European Opel Insignia. In other words, stay tuned. Related Video:
