The 1963 Buick Riviera is the first year production of the much sought after '63, '64, '65 first series. The 1963 Rivieras came equipped with the Buick 401 cubic inch engine and was the last year with the Dynaflow Transmission with the dual range.   It's all stock and all original.  Enclosed pictures shows the VIN and matching engine number proof.

The Riviera was purchased in San Francisco on February 24, 1976, and still sports the vintage black California license plates. At 50 years old, the car presently has just over 107,000 miles...that's about 2000 miles per year. The Riviera was repainted in the original tan color upon purchase and is still in very nice condition.  Everything is original.  The interior is original with very good leather (not vinyl) seats, carpet, headliner and door panels. Even the walnut wood paneling on the door and quarter panels is perfect, perfect original.   The trunk matting and cardboard is original.  And the headlamps are the vintage GM Guide T3's.
The chrome and stainless exterior trim and all glass are in perfect condition, as well. The Riviera  was never used for commuting, but for ROA activities and car shows in the Bay Area and always garaged.  No dents, dings, scrapes, and certainly zero rust.  There are a couple of small blemishes in the 40 year old Du Pont lacquer paint.

The Riviera  is equipped with many highly desirable options.  Warning to other traffic is provided with the Four Note Horn option, consisting of the existing two horns behind the grill plus two more trumpet horns mounted on the inner side of the hood.   For tunes the Riviera has the working AM BUICK Transistor Radio option with the Electric Radio Antenna option. For safety, the Riviera is equipped with not one, but two Remote Control Side Mirrors option. The right side remote mirror is very rare.  The Riviera has the deluxe interior, which includes upgraded leather power seats, full length door and quarter wood inserts, and door full length armrest with door openers for front and rear seat passengers.  Optional Power Windows are included, as well.  A rare Cruise Control option works perfectly.  And a Vacuum Trunk Opener option is included, as well.

The Riviera is equipped with the standard Factory Power Brakes, Factory Power Steering, Factory 12" Drum Brakes with aluminum front drums that are par to disc brakes,  Factory Air Conditioning blows hot air on the floor when set to heat, and ice cold air from the dash vents when set to cold.
The engine starts right up, has lots of power, runs fantastic, the transmission operates smoothly and the drum brakes provide quick, sure stops.

All original, unmolested stock 50 year old cars don't come up too often.  The 1963 Buick Riviera with the sand exterior and tan leather interior equipped  with bucket seats and console floor shift in the distinctive Riviera design is a fine example of desirable car built when the the Riviera was king of the road, providing great power, handling, and prestige in the personal luxury car field.

The Riviera is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, has current registration, and a clear title in my name.  A $500 non-refundable down payment is due within 48 hours of auction close.   Balance is due within seven days of auction close.

The Riviera is 50 years old and is sold "as is."  There is no warranty.  Delivery, shipping, and transportation cost are the responsibility of the buyer.  Registration fees, transfer fees. license fees, emission test and fees, safety fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

I have been a member of eBay for over 12 years and over 900 feed backs.  Thanks for looking and happy bidding.

GM says over 40% of new China launches in next five years will be EVs

Wed, Aug 19 2020

SHANGHAI — General Motors is planning an electric car offensive in China with more than 40% of its new launches in the country over the next five years set to be electric vehicles (EVs), the U.S. carmaker said on Wednesday. GM's electric vehicles, many of which will be all-electric battery cars, will be manufactured in China with almost all parts coming from local suppliers, the company said in a statement released at its Tech Day event in Shanghai. Reuters reported earlier on Wednesday that GM was planning to overhaul its Chinese line-up to stem a slide of sales after more than two decades of growth in a country that contributes nearly a fifth of its profit. GM's new China boss Julian Blissett told Reuters that new technologies, such as EVs and cars with near hands-free driving for highways, would play a key role in GM's China initiatives, which are part of a push to get annual sales in the country back to the 4 million peak it hit in 2017. GM did not say in its statement how many new or significantly redesigned models it was planning to launch in China over the next five years. "China will play a crucial role in making our vision a reality," GM CEO Mary Barra said in the statement, referring to its initiative to create what it describes as a future of "zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion" through electrification and smart-driving technologies. GM has said it plans to invest more than $20 billion in electric and automated vehicles globally by 2025. It was not clear how much of that investment will be spent in China. Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. Malaise Era Junkyard Gem: 1979 Buick Electra Limited

Wed, Jun 22 2016

In the fall of 1973, the Arab members of OPEC shut off the oil taps, and Detroit got busy making many of their full-sized land yachts a lot smaller. By model year 1977, the downsized fifth-generation Buick Electra was ready to go ... just in time for the 1979 Iranian Revolution to squeeze the supply of the black stuff even further. You won't see many of the 1977-85 Electras these days, but I spotted this faded but solid '79 Limited sedan in a Denver self-service yard last week. General Motors must have bought up the entire world's supply of blue velour around this time, because you'll see this stuff in just about every car they made for the following decade or so. By this time, GM was doing a lot of mixing-and-matching with engines from its various divisions, which meant you could buy an Oldsmobile 88 with a Chevrolet 350 V8 engine, a Chevrolet Monza with a Buick 231 V6 engine, or— as in this case— a Buick Electra with an Oldsmobile 350 V8 engine. Do you want to know how many horses this engine delivered to this 3,631-pound car? 155 horsepower out of 5.7 liters of engine displacement. Times were tough during the Malaise Era.
