For sale is my 1957 Buick Super Series 56 - R (Riviera) 2 door hardtop

This car was bought out of a barn in the mid west about 2 years ago. It ran the winter before it was parked, missing a battery now. Has original motor and trans and all original interior. the teal and white is the original paint. The body is overall very good with several small rust spots. the surface rust is where paint has been sanded. it has one spot that is sanded and has bondo applied in the driver rear quarter. other then that there doesnt seem to be any bondo, the worst of the rust is in the rear bumper corner, its rotted through on the passenger side but the driver side still appears to be pretty good. I paid someone to rebuild the starter for me, so that should be good. The back tire is flat in the photo but i have a newer tire on there now. The glass is all good, i dont have a crank on the driver door, the seats need re-upholstery. the headliner looks alright too. The trim is mostly all there except on the replacement door and the rear taillight cover on the driver side. These cars are the most rare of this model with these options for 1957 with an exception to the convertible. I have a clear and clean out of state title in hand with the original keys, and no back fees. Its got some parts in the trunk as well, i haven't looked through it but i was told its what you dont see on the body. Its a project, its not just a come out and drive it home. But it is a rare car and a neat old big 2 door hardtop with fins. These care make killer customs, or lowriders. ive seen them as bombs or even as street rods i guess with all the billet and airbags.

Please dont offer me trades or try tell me how much its going to take you to fix it up. this isnt my first rodeo so youre wasting your time. the car is what it is, and it costs what it costs. if youre not into building a classic car then this isnt for you, i suggest you go buy a PT Cruiser and leave something like this to a person who wants to spend the money or the elbow grease to get it nice.

All auctions are of course, sold as is where is, no warranty implied.

I will help hold the car for a while as well so you can arrange a shipper at no added fee as long as we discuss the terms before hand.

GM's labor deal with UAW union on verge of ratification

Thu, Nov 16 2023

Nov 15 (Reuters) - General Motors' tentative labor deal with the United Auto Workers (UAW) union closed in on ratification as the votes were counted on Wednesday. Following the approval earlier in the day by more than 60% of union members at the Detroit automaker's large Arlington, Texas, assembly plant, additional votes in favor have the deal close to clinching majority approval. The number of union locals, most of which are smaller, still to report vote totals is not large. After several large assembly plants voted against the deal earlier on Wednesday, some media had reported the deal was heading toward failure. But Arlington's support, followed by strong voting in favor by smaller warehouse and parts facilities, has put the deal on the brink of approval. This would mark the first ratification of a deal, which runs through April 2028, with one of the Detroit Three automakers. Ford and Stellantis voting is still under way, and workers at both companies were favoring ratification by comfortable margins. The UAW's GM vote tracking site currently shows approval of the contract leading by a 54% to 46% margin with almost 32,000 workers having cast votes out of about 46,000 UAW-represented GM workers. The Arlington plant, with about 5,000 UAW members, has the most of any GM plant. Voting officially ends on Thursday at 4 p.m. EST, although most votes will be cast on Wednesday. The UAW went on strike for more than six weeks against the Detroit Three, seeking better wages, working conditions and cost-of-living adjustments. All three companies agreed to tentative agreements about two weeks ago. Workers at other GM assembly plants voted against the deal, including 60% of workers at its Fort Wayne, Indiana, truck plant, 53% at its Wentzville, Missouri, plant, 58% of workers at GM's Lansing Grand River plant and 61% of workers at the Lansing Delta Township plant. Seven of GM's 11 assembly plants rejected the deal. In addition to Arlington, workers at plants in Detroit, Fairfax, Kansas; and Lake Orion, Michigan; approved the agreement. Only nine facilities are still listed without vote totals on the UAW vote tracker, including GM's Lockport, New York, components plant with about 1,200 members. Those voting in favor of the agreement have a lead of almost 2,500 and many of the facilities still to come include workers who stand to receive large pay increases upon ratification.

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet

Wed, Oct 7 2015

Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
