Gallatin, Tennessee, United States
1998 BUICK REGAL GS 3.8L SUPERCHARGED V6 MY MOTHER PURCHASED THIS BUICK REGAL NEW IN JUNE OF 1997. MY WIFE STARTED DRIVING THE CAR LATE 2006. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN WELL TAKEN CAR OF WITH ALL SERVICE DONE WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DONE. SINCE NEW WE HAVE HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES WITH MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC. ON VACATION A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AGO I NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIP A COUPLE OF TIMES GOING AND COMING BACK FROM CHATTANOOGA. I HAD A NEW GM TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH AND EXTERNAL COOLER AND THAT IS THE ONLY ISSUE THE CAR HAS EVER GAVE US. THE TIRES ARE MICHELIN DEFENDERS WITH 80% TREAD LEFT. I HAD LOCAL DEALER SERVICE THE CAR 3 WEEKS AGO AND I FILLED IT UP WITH GAS. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED, MODIFIED, OR SMOKED IN. NO DENTS NO KIDS OR PETS ON THE INSIDE. THE CAR IS RUST FREE AND ALWAYS KEPT INSIDE. WHERE MY WIFE WORKS THEY HAVE INDOOR PARKING SO THE INTERIOR REFLECTS THAT. NO SUN DAMAGE NO RIPPED SEATS THE CAR LOOKS AND DRIVES GREAT. NEVER DRIVEN IN ICY OR SALTY CONDITIONS. EVERYTHING WORKS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. THE CAR NEEDS NOTHING BUT TO BE DRIVEN. I HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION INCLUDING ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE AND ALL FACTORY MANUALS. THE CAR WILL GO APPROX 400 MILES BEFORE YOU EVEN HAVE TO PUT GAS IN IT AND THERE IS ONLY ABOUT 20 MILES ON THIS OIL CHANGE. CHECK OUT THE PICTURES AND MY FEEDBACK THIS REALLY WOULD BE A GREAT CAR FOR SOMEONE... WE HAVE TO MANY AND THIS JUST HAPPENS TO BE THE OLDEST. Junkyard Gem: 1956 Buick Special 4-Door Sedan
Sun, Aug 6 2023Buick was flying high in the middle 1950s, with an all-time sales record of nearly 800,000 cars sold for the 1955 model year alone. Buick stood proud in third place for new-car sales in the United States for 1955 and 1956, behind only Chevrolet and Ford. At this time, both Oldsmobile and Buick built cars on the GM B Platform, with the Buick being the swankier and more prestigious of the two. Here's one of those Buicks, found in a Denver self-service boneyard recently. The list price of this car was $2,416, or about $27,505 in 2023 dollars. Located one step down on the GM Ladder of Success, the 1956 Olds 88 sedan started at $2,226 ($25,342 now). The Oldsmobile had a 324-cubic-inch (5.3-liter) Rocket V8 rated at 230 horsepower, which was serious stuff for 1956. This 322-cubic-inch Buick Nailhead V8 made ten fewer horses for 1956, but it would be bored and stroked out to 364 cubes for 1957 (and was all about land-yacht torque, in any case). A three-on-the-tree manual transmission was standard equipment on the 1956 Buick Special, but this one has the $204 Dynaflow automatic transmission ($2,332 in today's money). The Dynaflow usually gets called a two-speed, but it drove like more of a very inefficient (yet smooth) CVT that had two manually-selected ranges. This car spent too many decades outdoors to have any chance of a restoration. As often happens with cars stored in fields in rural Colorado, someone used this Buick for target practice. The bullet holes look like little VentiPorts. Does the '56 Buick go? Va-va-va-voom!
New Buick Verano testing in Germany
Thu, 29 May 2014A refresh to Buick's popular Verano sedan appears to be nigh, thanks to these spy photos that show the tweaked four-door testing in Germany.
As with the current Verano, the refreshed model will have a great deal in common with its European platform-mates, the Vauxhall/Opel Astra. Each car rides on General Motors's Delta II platform. Unlike the current car, though, the refreshed model's styling could lean more heavily towards its European roots, if these photos are any indication.
Despite its commonality with the Astra Sedan, the Verano has featured its own unique styling since arriving in the US back in 2011 as a 2012 model, with distinct fascias at both the front and back, as wells its own headlight and taillight designs. The two cars were still rebadged vehicles, but it was more subtle than it will be in 2015, when the refreshed Verano arrives. Astra-like elements are expected to dominate, particularly in regards to the headlights and taillights. That said, trademark Buick styling features will remain, like the waterfall grille. Really, then, the 2016 Verano won't be unlike the Regal - a rebadged Vauxhall/Opel Insignia, aside from a few very small styling details.
Buick: Odell Beckham Jr.
Mon, Feb 8 2016An Opel droptop in Buick drag crashes a wedding. No one's quite sure who made the Cascada, but Emily Ratajkowski definitely got the bouquet. She channels Odell Beckham Jr., laying out to make the catch – and conveniently Beckham is actually there to jokingly shoot her down. Did Buick nail this one, or was it (as Beckham quips) "out of bounds?" Let us know.
