Muncie Imports & Classics is proud to offer at this no reserve auction a very rare, one owner, low 21K miles 1990 Buick Reatta

This 1990 Buick Reatta is one of only 2,132 Rag Tops made that year.  It is an excellent example of a true one owner, super low miles vehicle. The owner states she purchased the car new and it has always been in her possession. This car has a clean car fax and  owner states it has had no accidents or paint & body repairs except for minor scratch repair on front bumper. Exterior reflects the low one owner miles with the exception of small inperfections on both headlamp covers (possibly cause by both headlamp motors being replaced ) and a minor paint chip and adbrasion on right front fender. The car is truly original right down to the tires, which would need to be replaced if the lucky bidder wants to put car on the road. Interior of car is also in excellent condition with no rips or tears in seat, console, dash or door panels. The underside shows normal wear & tear for a 23 year old, 21k miles driven car. We could find no evidence of rust or corrosion that usually occurs when driving on Indiana winter roads, which the owner states she very rarely did. The engine compartment is complete and unmolested with the exception of a replacement battery. Car comes with original owner's manual portfolio with the signed letter of craftmanship signed by the builders of this handmade vehicle.

As with any older low miles original car such as this, it needs a little TLC. We would recommend a new set of tires, tune-up, and all fluids changed. The engine is quite, clean and appears to have had good oil changes. The owner states the gauge cluster occasionally displays check engine light. We retrieved a Digital Trouble Code E042. The owner would like to sell car in its current mechanical condition and is willing to take that into consideration in regards to selling price. If you have any questions please feel free to call Chuck Crabtree, GM Muncie Imports at 800-462-4244 or email chuck@muncie-imports.com

Buick Verano to go turbo-only for 2014?

Sat, 22 Dec 2012

If VIN tags recently posted online prove accurate, the 2014 Buick Verano may be getting a new base engine. Presently the Verano makes use of GM's 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine in non-turbo trim; 2014 documentation appears to indicate that GM's entry-level luxury compact will instead feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill.
If this is the same engine seen in Europe, GM Inside News suggests it may offer 192 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque - useful improvements over the larger naturally aspirated mill's 180 hp and 171 lb-ft. More importantly, the downsized engine would likely improve on the Verano's current fuel mileage estimates of 21 city and 31 highway.
We like the Verano in both of its current iterations, but the 1.6 turbo engine sounds like a worthwhile upgrade if this reports turns out to be true. Plus, if more performance is your bag, baby, there's always the Verano's optional 2.0 turbo engine with an impressive 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft from just 2.0 liters of displacement.

First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
