Up for auction is this 2008 BMW Z4 M Roadster, most likely just a once-in-a-lifetime chance for a literally brand new M Roadster. It has just 746 actual miles, window sticker well over $60k. There is not a single blemish to be found inside or out. Has never seen a cloudy day, much less any rain or moisture and doesn’t know what snow or salt is. Stored inside a climate controlled garage on a trickle charger and under a cover it’s entire life. I have included over 150 pictures to show that there really are no blemishes of any kind anywhere on the car and will do my best to describe all of the options and extras, but please feel free to contact me for any additional pictures or information.

Exterior: Titanium Silver Metallic with black cloth top and factory BMW color matched Titanium Silver Metallic hardtop. Both tops are flawless and in perfect condition, the hardtop has a BMW storage stand when the hardtop is not in use. For when the top is down there are two different wind reflectors that fit between the headrests. Also installed in the front under the chin spoiler is a very James Bond hiding license plate holder. Pressing one button on a key fob the license plate slides out from underneath and folds out, and pressing another button hides it again, there are also clear license plate covers front and rear. The full front and rear of the car are covered in a 3M clear bra, as well as the edges of the doors and the mirrors. There are no scrapes, scratches, chips or dings anywhere. 100% flawless condition. Mounted on the trunk is a BMW stainless steel trunk handle that keeps the trunk fingerprint-free. All glass and lenses over lights are in blemish-free, mint condition.

Interior: Black Extended Nappa Leather package with Carbon Leather trim. The seats have been fitted with custom made, removable full seat covers made of the same material as wetsuits. This means that the Nappa leather underneath has almost never been sat in. Both the removable custom covers and the leather seats underneath are in mint condition and the custom covers fit very, very well. There are zero scratches on the aluminum door sills, the door jambs are spotless, the carpets are spotless, all controls function perfectly and are blemish free. There are no wear marks anywhere. The trunk is also spotless and includes BMW Z4 trunk storage pockets mounted inside the lid. The interior on the whole is in new, unused condition.

Mechanical: There are 5 records for the M Roadster, 4 service and 1 to purchase updated navigation map DVDs. It has been serviced at Elmhurst BMW it’s entire life. On May 6 2009  at 113 miles the hardtop was removed by the dealer and the car was clay barred and waxed. On April 14 2010 at 137 miles the dealer checked tire pressure and fixed a rattle in the rear when the top was down that ended up being a line to the pump for the top that was not mounted, the rattle was fixed, annual maintenance was also performed including oil change as well as oil filter, brake fluid flushed and changed, tire pressure checked and windshield washer fluid topped off. On September 8 2010 at 233 miles the dealer washed the soft top, installed the hardtop and washed/waxed the hardtop, the tire pressure was checked and the wheels were cleaned. On March 30 2011 at 258 miles annual maintenance was performed by the dealer including oil change with filter, washer fluid topped off, tire pressure checked and vehicle inspection. Tires are essentially new, as are brake pads and rotors, all fluids have been changed as appropriate and there are zero abnormalities of any kind whatsoever. The car really is like brand new.

Features: As one would assume, being the top trim of the Z4 there are many, many features. Including; automatic Xenon HID headlights, navigation with voice commands, Bluetooth, power/heated/memory M-specific seats, tire pressure monitor, multi-function M-specific steering wheel, power folding soft top with heated glass rear window, automatic climate control, homelink garage door opener, auxiliary input jack, CD and the other usual luxuries.

2015 Green Car Of The Year finalists announced, run alt-fuel gamut

Tue, Oct 21 2014

The 2015 edition of the Green Car of the Year award is following right in the footsteps of previous years with a variety of alt-fuel powertrains making the just-announced finalists list. You've got your plug-in vehicle (the BMW i3), your compressed natural gas (the Chevy Impala Bi-Fuel), your high-efficiency diesel (the Audi A3 TDI), your 40+ mile-per-gallon gas engine (the Honda Fit) and, finally, a car that can do a little bit of everything (the VW Golf). The Golf is available – at least in some parts of the US – with three different powertrains: a 2.0-liter diesel, a gasoline engine and all-electric drive. The Impala can burn either natural gas or gasoline in its 3.6-liter engine. The A3 is an efficiency champ, able to get 73.5 mpg on some European tests. The i3 can be a pure electric vehicle or come with a short range extending engine. And the Fit brings 41 miles to the gallon in a practical, affordable package. The GCOY award is announced every year at the Los Angeles Auto Show by Green Car Journal. The committee doesn't just take the fuel-saving technology into account, but also a vehicle's "availability to the mass market." Last year, the Honda Accord Hybrid/Plug-In Hybrid won top honors, following up on wins from the Ford Fusion models (plug-in hybrid and hybrid) for 2013, the Honda Civic Natural Gas for 2012 and the Chevrolet Volt for 2011. FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR 2015 "GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR"" Green Car Journal to Reveal Winner of 10th Annual Award at LA Auto Show" Press & Trade Days, November 20 LOS ANGELES, CA (October 21, 2014) – Green Car Journal has announced its five finalists for the magazine's high-profile 2015 Green Car of the Year® program. The 2015 models include the Audi A3 TDI, BMW i3, Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel, Honda Fit, and VW Golf. The Green Car of the Year® award, an honor widely recognized as the auto industry's most important environmental accolade, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. An increasing number of vehicle models are considered for the Green Car of the Year® program each year, a reflection of the auto industry's expanding efforts in offering new vehicles with higher efficiency and improved environmental impact. Green Car Journal has been honoring the most important "green" vehicles every year at the LA Auto Show, since its inaugural award announced at the show in 2005.

4 automakers agree to $553M settlement of Takata airbag claims

Thu, May 18 2017

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Four automakers agreed to a $553 million settlement to address class-action economic loss claims covering owners of nearly 16 million vehicles with potentially defective Takata airbag inflators, according to court documents filed on Thursday. Toyota's share of the settlement costs is $278.5 million, followed by BMW at $131 million, Mazda at $76 million and Subaru at $68 million. According to a press release from Plaintiffs' Committee for Takata Airbag Product Liability Litigation, the funds for the settlement are aimed at getting more cars with faulty airbags fixed. At the time of writing, Toyota had the greatest recall completion percentage of 31.89 percent followed by Subaru with 31.37 percent. Mazda has completed repairs on 18.16 percent of affected cars, and BMW brings up the rear with 16.48 percent completion. Some settlement funds will go to an outreach campaign to increase awareness, while other funds will be used to reimburse people for any costs accrued to get their cars fixed. These costs can include rental cars, child care, lost wages, or any other reasonable costs associated with bringing in a vehicle for repairs. Furthermore, a customer support program will be funded with settlement money to handle any additional repairs or adjustments that could become necessary in the 75,000 miles following the airbag replacement. Lawsuits against Honda, Ford and Nissan have not been settled, lawyers said. Takata inflators, which can explode with excessive force and unleash metal shrapnel inside cars and trucks, are blamed for at least 16 deaths and more than 180 injuries worldwide. The safety defect has prompted recalls worldwide of about 100 million inflators by more than a dozen major automakers. Recharge Wrap-up: BMW's electric truck, London's electric double-decker bus

Sat, Jul 11 2015

BMW and transport and logistics company Scherm Group have put an electric transport truck into service in Munich, Germany. The 40-ton truck, made by Dutch manufacturer Terberg, will be used to move vehicle components between BMW's Munich plant and Scherm's logistics center cleanly and quietly on public roads. Using the electric vehicle saves 11.8 tons of CO2 per year. It charges in about four hours, and has a range of about 62 miles — enough to make the trip between the two facilities eight times a day. The truck will be powered completely by electricity from renewable sources. With this project, BMW "is showing that you can succeed on the global market with sustainable products made by innovative companies," says Bavaria's Minister for Economic Affairs, Ilse Aigner. Read more in the press release below. Discount supermarket chain Aldi is offering free charging in Germany. The company has installed fast-charging stations at 50 locations for customers to use while they shop. IKEA also has plans to install free charging at its stores in Germany, and other retailers will likely do the same. While offering free e-juice helps businesses garner the attention of its EV-driving customers, it could also help encourage people to buy electric vehicles. Many are disappointed by Germany's lack of EV incentives, despite the country's goal of having 1 million EVs in operation by 2020. Read more at Automotive News Europe. London will put an all-electric double-decker bus into service this year. London Mayor Boris Johnson announced the electric bus trial at the first ever Clean Bus Summit. The bus, made by BYD, will begin service in October. London has already deployed over 1,300 hybrid buses and retrofitted over 1,400 buses to reduce emissions since 2008. Mayor Johnson's goal is to cut buses' NOx emissions in half by the end of his term in 2016 compared to 2008 levels. Also at the Clean Bus Summit, a number of bus makers and banks committed to helping cities roll out fleets of ultra-low emission buses. Read more in the press release from London, and from BYD. The US Department of Energy (DOE) is funding biofuel projects to the tune of $18 million. The DOE will award the funds to six projects in an effort to reduce the price of algae-based biofuels to less than $5 per gasoline gallon equivalent (gge). The DOE has a goal to get the price of algal biofuels to less than $3 per gge by 2030.
