Bmw X5 Blacked Out 3.0l Sport Package Many New Parts on 2040-cars
Topeka, Kansas, United States
|
This auction is for a: "Blacked Out" 2001 x5 3.0L loaded! 246k miles (shouldn't vary much. I have a new company car so I unless someone test drives the car, no additional miles should be added) This is a great car, and quite honestly I hate to part with it. Our company is now providing us a car vs reimbursement, which is the only reason I am selling my baby (and this car has been babied). I will try to give a completely open/honest description that's fair and not inflated so you know what you're getting. Please feel free to ask any questions you would like. Happy to answer them. Also, if you live near Topeka and would like to come look at/test drive the car, no problem. That's how confident I am. -Body is in great shape...garage kept. No rust or accidents. (2 owner) -Paint is in good shape... There are some chips around the front grill which were touched up, but no major paint flaws. -A few MINOR dents/dings on driver/passenger door but no paint missing, etc -There are 2 scuffs-one on the front bumper, one on the rear. See pics -Very good interior. The seats are in great shape...no rips/tears/cracks (I always used leather conditioners) -The wood grain has a few cracks as these models get with age, but Still looks great. No crack in the dash, plastics etc -ZERO pixels out on dash readout or radio. Very common to see issues...this car has none! -Heated front seats -3.0 engine RUNS STRONG...does not blow smoke, or burn oil, and the filter is CLEAN! This X5 has been blacked out...all black exterior, including paint, rear lights smoked, side markers smoked, front grille black, all badges including wheels with black carbon fiber, wheels (BMW original 18" rims-professionally powder coated), etc. interior is also all black, including seats, liner, etc. This has been my baby, and treated as such. I've always replaced items as needed and kept repairs up. In the last yr to yr and a half I have replaced the following (yes this car has highway miles and yes you can get one with 100k miles, but I promise you you you will be replacing these parts soon so factor that into your decision on another more expensive lower miles version) -Both front door carriers have been replaced (over time they brake and are expensive to replace) -front arms, ball joints, bearings etc -alignment performed this summer when new front arms were replaced -all new coils, spark plugs etc -drive shaft carrier/bearing -radiator (3 row, not cheap 1 row version), coolant flush for engine and new coolant -intake manifold & gaskets (tune up also done at same time and hoses checked/replaced so no vacuum leaks) -brakes (pads etc) and cross drilled rotors -disa valve -crank case valve and hoses -throttle body gasket -belts (serpentine etc) -headlights reconditioned so they do not have the scratches and haze typically seen -gas pedal -air conditioning resistor (common issue that cuts out your air conditioning) -new key purchased so the keyless entry does work (you will get 2 factory keys, but one is dead, so the keyless entry feature does not work...alas why I bought a new one -MAF sensor Other notes... -I ALWAYS used premium full synthetic oil and Lucas stabilizer at EVERY oil change...the filter is very clean -all features that should work do work...ie the heat, air, washer fluid pumps, garage door opener feature, etc. - this car has heated front seats and work -all steering wheel features like volume cruise etc work as should -I have not had any transmission, rear differential etc issues ****I will include all the old parts that I replaced/have in case you ever need a spare part, etc**** So, I listed all the great things...I will list areas that will need attention at some point, flaws etc to be fair: -scratches/scuff on the bumper (see pics)- 1 front, 1 rear -headliner sags a little ONLY ON THE MOON ROOF -cracks in the wood grain (dash etc...very common) -shocks at some point will need replaced. They're not bad by any means and won't need to be replaced tomorrow, but at some point you may want to ,) -chips in the paint on the hood/near the grill. I have used scratch fill paint to touch it up, but just so you know it's there -tires were replaced last summer, and there is still about 50%+ tread, so again...at some point -I would get a "pedal position sensor" error code that popped up frequently which is why I replaced the pedal. It has not come back on since, so I'm assuming that issue is resolved -one of the power steering hoses must have a slight leak in the line because the steering is a little stiffer, and you do get that 30 second squeal when it's cold until the air clears the line, then it's good to go -I replace the oil drain plug every oil change and I do notice that their are some drips of oil that do occur at the plug. I MAY have to touch up the oil level by 1/2 qt over the 3mo between changes...so it's minimal but want to be transparent...again this car does not burn oil, smoke etc Overall this is a great x5 that turns heads...and for the price, good luck finding a better deal with as many options, replaced parts etc. that being said, this is a car with highway miles and things do wear out, break etc so please bid accordingly. I'm happy to answer any questions so please ask before you bid. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit through PayPal is due within 48 hrs. Balance in full with wire, verifiable cashiers check, or cash only due within one week after end of auction please. Im glad to help you with with shipping if needed. Don't bid on this if you have no intention to follow through. I don't have time nor patience to deal with non payers. I'm a fair guy (100% feedback) and I have tried to give you all the pros and cons, so please treat me the same. Thank you and good luck! |

Editors' Picks June 2023: BMW 3 Series and more luxury sport sedans
Fri, Jul 7 2023This month sees a number of luxury sport sedans gain Editors' Pick status thanks to updated or recently-all-new models coming out. The BMW 3 Series is a longtime favorite, and so is the Alfa Romeo Giulia at this point. Just like the electric version of the G80, though, the gasoline version is also an Editors' Pick this month. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in May that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2023 BMW 3 Series 2023 BMW 3 Series View 15 Photos Quick take: The 3 Series may not be the standard anymore, but it's still a superb luxury sport sedan with powerful engines, great handling, impressive tech and tons of space. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Cadillac CT4, Acura TLX, Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50, Genesis G70, Volvo S60 Pros: Enjoyable and powerful engines; fun handling; lots of space in rear seat and cargo area; attractive design inside and out Cons: Infotainment is frustrating to use sometimes; value isn't the best From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "The 3 Series ticks all the boxes that a top-shelf luxury sport sedan should. It's attractive but not gaudy. The driving dynamics leave me grinning at the end of a fun road, but don't beat me up on the highway. Any and all modern tech is present and accounted for. And while the price is high, it's not so bad for what you get. I'm an especially big fan of the M340i with its inline-six, but the four-cylinder in the 330i is an excellent option if you don't want to spend as much." In-depth analysis: 2023 BMW 3 Series gets fresh styling and infotainment  2023 Genesis G80 2022 Genesis G80 Sport Prestige View 61 Photos Quick take: The G80 has looks to kill, and it backs that design up with a functional and also-gorgeous interior. There's a lot of value to be had with this nice-to-drive luxury sedan.
Why are all US-bound BMW i3 EVs with range extenders stuck at port?
Tue, May 20 2014The first BMW i3 EVs have been delivered in the US, but in a quirk of the rules, none of them have been the range-extended versions. Long-time BMW electric vehicle driver Tom Moloughney discovered this fact the hard way. His i3 REx has been sitting at a New Jersey port for over a week and he's getting impatient. The problem is something Moloughney calls a "Monroney Hold." So, instead of sitting there fuming, Moloughney did a bit of research and discovered that the problem is something he calls a "Monroney Hold." He says that "the EPA certification has not been completed so BMW doesn't have a Monroney label (window sticker) to post in the window before the car leaves the port, which is required by law. The range extender option changes (shortens) the car's electric range, and also requires an official MPG rating so BMW couldn't use the same Monroney label as they did for the all electric i3." You can read more on his website, but it turns out that the story isn't so simple. For one thing, the EPA testing has been finished. Washington State representative Chad Magendaz told Moloughney that he asked the EPA for an official statement and got the following from Linc Wehrly, Director of the Light-Duty Vehicle Center Compliance Division: "EPA tested the i3 REx and provided the results of that testing to BMW on May 13th. EPA is not aware of anything that would prevent BMW from importing the vehicles since May 13th." Then there's the official word from BMW. Spokesman Dave Buchko told AutoblogGreen that: We are moving as quickly as possible to release the first BMW i3 Range-Extender models to BMW i Centers. Receipt of test data from the EPA is one step, but not the final step, in the process of receiving certification from the EPA. Rules do not permit the release of vehicles for sale until EPA labels are finalized, produced and affixed to any vehicle. Barring any unforeseen delays, we expect that to happen by the end of this week. We have never certified a vehicle like this before. We are taking every precaution to make sure that everything is done in a timely, but more importantly correct manner. In that Monroney labels cannot be produced until the EPA certification process is complete, the characterization [of a "Monroney Hold"] is not technically incorrect, but there is more to it than that, as is often true in life. On a lighter note, BMW donated a loaded i3 to Brad Pitt's Make It Right charity foundation as a fundraiser. Read about that below.
M235i outpoints 911, Corvette in CR testing, becomes highest-scoring BMW ever
Fri, 27 Jun 2014Good news just keeps coming for BMW, as Consumer Reports has just handed out a stunner of a verdict - the M235i, a spritely, 320-horsepower coupe that starts at just $43,100 has bested the likes of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and Porsche 911, vehicles that can easily cost twice as much and come to battle with considerably more power.
CR awarded the spiritual successor to the 1 Series M Coupe a score of 98 out of 100, beating out the 911 and the Stingray by three and six points, respectively. In fact, the M235i is remarkably close to the Tesla Model S' 99, making it one of the highest scores CR has ever handed out. It's also, not surprisingly, the highest-rated BMW ever.
Of the M235i's many attributes, Consumer Reports cited the car's performance potential as well as its quiet ride and comfort for front-seat passengers. While it's a shock to no one, CR called out the limited space in the backseats as well as some finicky controls as this Bimmer's biggest shortcomings.
