2003 Bmw X5 on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
Up for sale our family jewel 03 X5 4.6is.I have bought this car 3 years and took great care of her and she did the same for me.We had around 20 k miles on the California roads and I was never left stranded or had even a distant feeling that I may not make it home.We bought it to use it for the family trips and to tow my race car to the track a few times a year.I probably have 1200-1500 miles towing for the last 3 years. It was planned to stay with the family for a long time, but I got a great deal om a X5 diesel and this one has to go.You can see all the maintenance I have done below, that is probably more than $10k if done by the dealer. Thanks god I am a 20+ years BMW technician and able to take a good care of my Bimmers.Of course there are some minor cosmetic flaws here and there, but I never had the goal to make the car perfect.Just to keep it nice, clean and mechanically 100%.
As you may already know the 4.6is models for E53 X5 are top of the line,power-wise and option-wise.It has 340 hp and is one of the fastest cars on the street.Nowadays that is not a stunning power, but BMW always utilises the power and torque in the best possible way.It also has amazing handling, even compared to most cars. When loaded with my race E30(2500 lbs+open trailer 1500lbs) it doesnt even feel there is something back there.I have connected electric brake controller, but the X5's brakes are more than sufficient to stop in any condition.
The AUTO CHECK REPORT mentions accident, but it doesnt give any details.Much more accurate CARFAX REPORT specifies "FRONT,MINOR DAMAGE",which is explained :"Minor damage is usually cosmetic, including dents or scratches to the vehicle body".

HERE's Real-Time Traffic pools live data from Audi, BMW Mercedes cars
Wed, Jul 26 2017Remember last week's news that German automakers were being accused of collusion? Here's a case where working together might pay off for drivers. Mapping expert HERE is launching a Real-Time Traffic service that pulls aggregated data from sensors in Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz vehicles that are actually out driving the road, making it the first commercial traffic service of its kind that collects real-time information from vehicles from competing carmakers, according to HERE. The car companies involved are actually all part-owners of HERE, however, after the mapping business was spun out of Nokia in 2015 and sold to the competing automakers as a joint venture. The HERE Real-Time Service is available to any customers across any industry, however, and boasts big improvements in features including traffic flow data, with a reach that extends to over 60 countries. In over 30 of the countries on that list, HERE also offers Traffic Safety Warning information, which will identify incidents on the road, as measured by hard-braking data. This allows real-time notifications to vehicles that could potentially prevent the worsening of these accidents. HERE is also in the process of adding more commercial vehicles as data sources for the Real-Time Traffic function, with "millions" of active vehicles in terms of consumer Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz vehicles on the road already. Clients for the service could include autonomous car technology companies, but also current Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as well as ride-hailing companies, urban transit authorities, city planners and logistics providers, to name a few.Written by Darrell Etherington for TechCrunch.Related Video:
Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo offers Europeans a pre-M3 performance 3er
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Anyone that's spent some time behind the wheel of the Alpina B7 probably knows enough to understand what Americans are missing with this, newly launched Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo. We've got no lack of M models to choose from, it's true, but the Alpina touch offers a completely different driving character, with almost as much performance. A pity then that Alpina has no plans that we've heard of to bring this one across the pond.
Filling the gap between the current 3 Series offerings and the outgoing M3 (we're not likely to even see the new M3 and M4 until September's Frankfurt show, nor be able to buy one until after that), the B3 Bi-Turbo brings serious performance to the F30 3er. As the name indicates, two turbochargers are used to force-feed BMW's 3.0-liter inline-six engine, for a total output of 410 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. That power offers a big jump from even the BMW 335i sedan, and will push the B3 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 190 miles per hour. Alpina's own sport suspension underpins the thing, while the power is modulated by way of a eight-speed automatic transmission.
The new B3 will be easily recognizable thanks to its "Classic" 20-inch, 20-spoke Alpina wheels, and a rather subtle, aero-enhancing body kit. No pricing has yet been announced, but you will find a host of additional information in the attached Alpina press release below.
BMW i8 pitted against M4 in sibling rivalry track battle
Wed, Jan 7 2015We recently watched Auto Bild challenge the BMW i8 against the M4 in a German drag race of decide the quicker of the inter-brand rivals. The hybrid took a commanding victory in that fight. However, Autocar now has a new battle for the two coupes. The siblings are together again on the Castle Combe Circuit to find out which of them offers the more enjoyable experience at the track. Unfortunately, we don't ever get a perfect point of comparison in the video because host Steve Sutcliffe never does a full lap in anger with either of them to set a time. Instead, he focuses more on how the BMWs feel behind the wheel. Sutcliffe also admits midway through the clip that the i8's electric motor is out of juice to power the front axle's electric motor. That only leaves the hybrid with its 228-horsepower and 236-pound-feet-of-torque turbocharged three-cylinder to spin the rear wheels. Still, Sutcliffe spends ample time explaining the benefits and downfalls of driving these coupes. See where his opinion falls between the M4 as the traditional German sports coupe and the i8 as the new-school hybrid in the video, above.
